Latar Belakang. Tetanus merupakan salah satu penyakit infeksi yang dapat dicegah dengan imunisasi. Penyakit ini ditandai oleh kekakuan otot dan spasme yang diakibatkan oleh pelepasan neurotoksin (tetanospasmin) oleh Clostridium tetani. Tetanus dapat terjadi pada orang yang belum diimunisasi, orang yang diimunisasi sebagian, atau telah diimunisasi lengkap tetapi tidak memperoleh imunitas yang cukup karena tidak melakukan booster secara berkala. Tujuan. Penulisan ini untuk mengetahui penyebab tetanus pada pasien ini dan dapat memberikan terapi yang cepat dan tepat. Kasus. Seorang anak laki-laki, 2 tahun 6 bulan, dengan status gizi baik, datang dengan keluhan tidak dapat membuka mulut dan badan kaku sejak 2 hari sebelumnya. Diketahui sejak 1 bulan sebelumya sering keluar cairan dari telinga kanan, dan sering dikorek-korek. Riwayat imunisasi tidak lengkap. Setelah dilakukan pemeriksaan fisik dan pemeriksaan penunjang didapatkan diagnosis tetanus generalisata derajat II. Pasien diberikan terapi cairan, anti tetanus serum (ATS) 80.000 IU dibagi menjadi 30.000 IU intravena dan 50.000 IU intramuskular. Pasien juga diberikan metronidazol, diazepam, tetes telinga ofloksasin, dan ear toilet. Simpulan. Tetanus disebabkan oleh infeksi bakteri Clostridium tetani. Prinsip pengobatannya meliputi netralisasi toksin, eradikasi bakteri penyebab dengan antibiotik, perawatan luka port d'entrée, dan terapi suportif. [Medula Unila.2013;1(4):85-93

Sakai inheritance system which is done collectively is also contrary to the Islamic law which is done individually. The research was about Sakai adat community that was Moslems. It was conducted in Mandau Subdistrict, Bengkalis District, Riau Province. The result of the research showed that the community had known the Islamic inheritance law (faraidh), but not all community had known the Islamic inheritance law (faraidh) which could be seen from the portion of the inheritance. Dispute in distributing inheritance to Sakai community could be settled by reconciliation, either through family reconciliation with or through reconciliation with adat leaders

Keragaman dan Struktur Kumpulan Ikan di Anak Sungai-anak Sungai Sopokomil, Dairi, Sumatera Utara [Fish Diversity And Assemblage Structure In Tributaries Of Sopokomil River, Dairi, North Sumatra]

Penelitian tentang keragaman dan struktur kumpulan ikan yang dilakukan pada bulan Agustus dan November 2010 di anak sungai-anak sungai Sopokomil bertujuan mendeskripsikan komposisi dan keragaman kumpulan ikan secara spasial dan temporal serta mengevaluasi faktor lingkungan utama yang memengaruhi distribusi ikan di lokasi tersebut. Penangkapan ikan menggunakan alat backpack electrofishing dengan metode single-pass depletion di tujuh belas stasiun pengamatan. Ikan yang ditemukan selama penelitian berjumlah 16 spesies dari 10 genera dan 8 famili. Kekayaan spesies dan keragaman ikan meningkat secara signifikan mulai dari zona hulu, tengah, dan hilir. Hasil uji two-way ANOSM tanpa replikasi menunjukkan bahwa kumpulan ikan secara spasial berbeda secara signifikan, namun tidak berbeda secara temporal. Canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) menggarisbawahi bahwa ada empat parameter lingkungan uta-ma yang signifikan memengaruhi struktur kumpulan ikan di anak sungai-anak sungai Sopokomil, yakni ketinggian, pa-datan tersuspensi total, oksigen terlarut, dan suhu. Beberapa aktifitas antropogenik ditengarai ikut mengambil peran da-lam meningkatkan kandungan total padatan tersuspensi di badan sungai. Status hutan lindung yang melingkupi daerah hulu dan sebagian bagian tengah Sungai Sopokomil perlu untuk tetap dipertahankan demi kelestarian iktiofauna sungai ini

Peningkatan Pemahaman Konsep Fisika Mahasiswa Melalui Pendekatan Pembelajaran Pemecahan Masalah Berbasis Video

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep mahasiswa pada matakuliah Fisika Umum melalui pendekatan pembelajaran pemecahan masalah berbasis video. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pra-eksperimental dengan desain One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Data pemahaman konsep Fisika dikumpulkan dengan tes berbentuk pilihan berganda. Peningkatan pemahaman konsep Fisika mahasiswa dinilai berdasarkan perbandingan rerata nilai gain yang dinormalisasi, N-gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa melalui penggunaan pendekatan pembelajaran pemecahan masalah berbasis video pada topik Kinematika dan Dinamika Partikel dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep fisika mahasiswa, termasuk kategori sedang
