Spontaneous PT symmetry breaking of a ferromagnetic superfluid in a gradient field

We consider the interaction of a ferromagnetic spinor Bose-Einstein condensate with a magnetic field gradient. The magnetic field gradient realizes a spin-position coupling that explicitly breaks time-reversal symmetry T and space parity P, but preserves the combined PT symmetry. We observe using numerical simulations, a first-order phase transition spontaneously breaking this re-maining symmetry. The transition to a low-gradient phase, in which gradient effects are frozen out by the ferromagnetic interaction, suggests the possibility of high-coherence magnetic sensors unaffected by gradient dephasing

Interferometric measurement of interhyperfine scattering lengths in 87^{87}Rb

We present interferometeric measurements of the $f=1$ to $f=2$ inter-hyperfine scattering lengths in a single-domain spinor Bose-Einstein condensate of $^{87}$Rb. The inter-hyperfine interaction leads to a strong and state-dependent modification of the spin-mixing dynamics with respect to a non-interacting description. We employ hyperfine-specific Faraday-rotation probing to reveal the evolution of the transverse magnetization in each hyperfine manifold for different state preparations, and a comagnetometer strategy to cancel laboratory magnetic noise. The method allows precise determination of inter-hyperfine scattering length differences, calibrated to intra-hyperfine scattering length differences. We report $(a_{3}^{(12)}-a_{2}^{(12)})/(a_{2}^{(1)}-a_{0}^{(1)})=-1.27(15)$ and $(a_{1}^{(12)}-a_{2}^{(12)})/(a_{2}^{(1)}-a_{0}^{(1)})=-1.31(13)$, limited by atom number uncertainty. With achievable control of atom number, we estimate precisions of $\approx 0.3\%$ should be possible with this technique

Bose-Einstein Condensate Comagnetometer

We describe a comagnetometer employing the $f=1$ and $f=2$ ground state hyperfine manifolds of a $^{87}$Rb spinor Bose-Einstein condensate as co-located magnetometers. The hyperfine manifolds feature nearly opposite gyromagnetic ratios and thus the sum of their precession angles is only weakly coupled to external magnetic fields, while being highly sensitive to any effect that rotates both manifolds in the same way. The $f=1$ and $f=2$ transverse magnetizations and azimuth angles are independently measured by non-destructive Faraday rotation probing, and we demonstrate a $44.0(8)\text{dB}$ common-mode rejection in good agreement with theory. We show how spin-dependent interactions can be used to inhibit $2\rightarrow 1$ hyperfine relaxing collisions, extending to $\sim 1\text{s}$ the transverse spin lifetime of the $f=1,2$ mixtures. The technique could be used in high sensitivity searches for new physics on sub-millimeter length scales, precision studies of ultra-cold collision physics, and angle-resolved studies of quantum spin dynamics

Diseño de un proyecto de factibilidad, para la creación de un complejo turístico comunitario, en la parroquia de Huigra, cantón Alausí, provincia de Chimborazo, en el periodo 2012 – 2013

El Diseño de un proyecto de Factibilidad, para la Creación de un Complejo Turístico Comunitario, en la Parroquia de Huigra Cantón Alausí en la Provincia de Chimborazo, en el periodo 2012 – 2013, es el resultado de la urgente necesidad de la población de Huigra que busca tener alternativas para el mejoramiento de su calidad de vida, a través de una de las actividades de mayor incidencia en la economía de la zona por la rehabilitación del Ferrocarril de Alfaro que hoy es considerado como icono de la cultura nacional, el proyecto se orienta al planteamiento de un estudio de factibilidad en el que se han analizado las viabilidades fundamentales para determinar si su ejecución es posible, para el efecto se realizó un estudio de mercado analizándose la demanda y la oferta, se plantearon los elementos necesarios para la estructuración de un plan de marketing basado en las potencialidades turísticas del cantón constituyéndose en el soporte sobre las que se desarrollan las actividades del emprendimiento. Se realizó un análisis de la viabilidad técnica, en base a una demanda operativa configurando los diferentes elementos que dan forma al centro turístico, se realizó el análisis legal y un estudio de impactos ambientales como parte de los argumentos para medir la incidencia de la ejecución del proyecto en la parroquia de Huigra, finalmente se realizó el análisis financiero estableciéndose la inversión a realizar, la rentabilidad y el tiempo de recuperación de la inversión. An analysis of the technical feasibility was made, based on an operational demand, configuring the different elements that shape the tourist center, the legal analysis was carried out and a study of the effects of the part of the arguments to measure the incidence of the execution of the project in the parish of Huigra, finally the financial analysis was carried out establishing the investment to be made, the profitability and the time of recovery of the investment. Análisis de requerimientos para una app de alerta de emergencias médicas en la UTP Centro Regional de Chiriquí.

En la actualidad el uso de dispositivos inteligentes permiten al usuario realizar actividades a distancia, para entretenimiento, estudiar, etc., incluso para ayudar a otros, gracias a las constantes innovaciones tecnológicas que hay en el mercado. En el presente trabajo se propone elanálisis de los requerimientos esenciales para el desarrollo de una aplicación móvil, de alerta de emergencias médicas en la Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá, Centro Regional de Chiriquí, ya que la universidad no cuenta con una brigada de emergencias médicas ante los percances de salud que los estudiantes puedan presentar durante su estadía en los predios de la universidad, cada facultad y coordinador de eventos tiene un formulario de registro para activar la póliza en caso de emergencias ,por lo que no se cuenta con un historial de eventos de emergencias médicas en la Universidad.El método propuesto para el análisis de los requerimientos se enfoca en la integración de diagramas predictivos y metodologías de administración de recursos, como los Diagramas de Casos de Uso y la metodologías ágiles en especial en el método SCRUM, que permitirá detallar los pasos para su realizar su diseño

El desarrollo armónico de las habilidades lingüísticas en la enseñanza del idioma inglés en la educación superior

One of the most common problems of the university, in recent decades, is its great linguistic, cultural and academic diversity. In this educational space, English has become the lingua franca of instruction, so the main objective of this article is to know how linguistic skills influence the university pedagogical context. This is a descriptive field research, since the data were collected directly from the subjects studied and in the educational environment. It was developed in different stages: identification and delimitation of the project, elaboration and construction of the instrument, observation and recording of data, as well as analysis and interpretation of results. The findings reveal the importance of these skills in the teaching-learning process and which are the most effective methods, strategies, techniques and activities for their development.Uno de los problemas más comunes de la universidad, en las últimas décadas, es su gran diversidad lingüística, cultural y académica. En este espacio educativo, el inglés se ha convertido en lengua franca de instrucción, por lo que el objetivo principal de este artículo es conocer cómo influyen las habilidades lingüísticas en el contexto pedagógico universitario. Se trata de una investigación descriptiva de campo, pues los datos se recopilaron directamente de los sujetos estudiados y en el entorno educativo. Se desarrolló en diferentes etapas: identificación y delimitación del proyecto, elaboración y construcción del instrumento, observación y registro de datos, así como análisis e interpretación de resultados. Los hallazgos revelan la importancia de estas habilidades en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje y cuáles son los métodos, estrategias, técnicas y actividades más efectivos para su desarrollo
