A odontologia hospitalar e sua importância na multidisciplinaridade: uma revisão discutida da literatura

The performance of the dental surgeon in the area of hospital dentistry is presented as an achievement structured throughout history in the world and in Brazil. The impact on the recovery of the hospitalized patient's quality of life demonstrates the need to warrant dental care in a hospital environment. The dental surgeon is the professional responsible for carrying out adequate control of infections that reach the stomatognathic system, reducing health risks and the aggravation of systemic conditions that compromise the general condition of the patient. In this sense, discussed review of the literature sought to highlight the importance of the role of the dental surgeon in multidisciplinary teams at the hospital level, with emphasis on follow-up in Intensive Care Units. Based on the analysis of scientific articles from the Google Academy, Scielo, BIREME, PubMed and Scopus databases, published since 1965, with the aim of detailing the history and evolution of hospital dentistry, in accordance with current laws and regulations that guarantee its operation and its impact on the health care of hospitalized patients through the definition of care and oral health promotion protocols. Therefore, it is concluded that dentistry used at the hospital level is one of the premises of the new DCNs (National Curriculum Guidelines) for the Dentistry course, and must contemplate the current health system as a way of allowing the patient to receive comprehensive and humanized care and follow-up.A atuação do cirurgião-dentista na área da odontologia hospitalar se apresenta como uma conquista estruturada ao longo da história, no mundo e no Brasil. O seu impacto na recuperação da qualidade de vida do paciente internado demonstra a necessidade de garantia de assistência odontológica no ambiente hospitalar. O cirurgião-dentista é o profissional responsável por realizar o controle adequado das infecções que atingem o sistema estomatognático, reduzindo os riscos à saúde e o agravamento de condições sistêmicas que comprometem o estado geral do paciente. Nesse sentido, esta revisão discutida de literatura buscou evidenciar a importância da atuação do cirurgião-dentista em equipes multidisciplinares, em nível hospitalar, com ênfase no acompanhamento em Unidades de Terapia Intensiva. Foram analisados artigos científicos das bases de dados Google Academy, Scielo, BIREME, PubMed e Scopus, publicados desde 1965, com o intuito de detalhar a história e evolução da odontologia hospitalar, as legislações e normas vigentes que garantem o seu funcionamento e o seu impacto nos cuidados de assistência à saúde do paciente hospitalizado, por meio da definição de protocolos de cuidado e de promoção de saúde bucal. Assim, conclui-se que a odontologia empregada em nível hospitalar é uma das premissas das novas DCNs (Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais) para o curso de Odontologia, devendo contemplar o sistema de saúde atual como forma de permitir ao paciente um atendimento e acompanhamento integral e humanizado

ATENDIMENTO ODONTOLÓGICO A PACIENTES COM PARALISIA CEREBRAL: QUAIS CONDUTAS DEVEM SER ASSUMIDAS?

A paralisia cerebral (PC) é um distúrbio motor crônico que provoca distúrbios cognitivos, comunicativos e convulsivos associados. Alguns desafios práticos são comumente encontrados ao lidar com crianças com PC, portanto é necessário conhecimento e adaptação por parte dos Cirurgiões-Dentistas (CDs). Avaliar quais condutas podem ser assumidas pelos Cds frente o atendimento a pacientes com PC. Revisar a literatura nas bases de dados Pubmed e Scielo, utilizando os descritores: “Cerebral Palsy”, “Dentistry”, “Oral Care”, associados ao conector booleano and. Artigos em português e inglês publicados nos últimos 10 anos foram incluídos. Artigos não disponíveis na íntegra ou que não abrangiam a pc no ambiente odontológico foram excluídos. A incoordenação motora presente na pc afeta a capacidade de realizar uma higiene oral adequada e os déficits cognitivos tornam a cooperação para cuidados bucais eficazes mais difícil. As primeiras visitas devem ser usadas principalmente para o cd e o paciente se conhecerem, estabelecendo confiança mútua. A comunicação eficaz com esses pacientes durante a avaliação dentária deve levar em consideração sua idade de desenvolvimento e quaisquer distúrbios associados. A cadeira odontológica deve ser ajustada com cuidado e muitos desses pacientes são mais bem tratados com a cadeira inclinada para trás para dar uma posição de segurança. Torna-se essencial a capacitação do cd para oferecer um atendimento seguro e de qualidade, propiciando um ambiente acolhedor para o paciente e responsáveis

Effect of the acidified extract of Moringa oleifera leaves as a supplement in the in vitro culture medium of sheep preantral follicles

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of the acidified extract of M. oleifera leaves as a supplement into the base medium for in vitro culture of sheep isolated secondary follicles. Follicles were isolated and cultured for 12 days in α-MEM+(supplemented with bovine serum albumin, insulin, glutamine, hypoxanthine, transferrin, selenium, and ascorbic acid) with or without 0.1; 0.2 or 0.4 mg/ml of the acidified extract of M. oleifera. Follicle morphology, antral cavity formation, follicular and oocyte diameter, glutathione (GSH) concentration, mitochondrial activity and meiotic resumption were evaluated. After 12 days of culture, there was no significant difference among treatments in relation to follicular morphology, antral cavity formation, diameter and mitochondrial activity. Nevertheless, oocytes from follicles cultured in α-MEM+ showed greater GSH concentration than media containing M. oleifera extract. Furthermore, the concentration of 0.4 mg/ml M. oleifera extract significantly increased the percentage of fully grown oocyte (≥ 110 µm) when compared to the other treatments. In conclusion, the concentration of 0.4 mg/ml M. oleifera extract as a supplement of the culture medium, maintained the survival, and increased the percentage of fully grown oocytes
