Ecological Life Cycle Assessment Modified Novolaks Waste Used in Industrial Wastewater Treatment

    Get PDF
Ecological Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) applied in the assessment of the impact of products on the environment is a technique that allows for the evaluation of the environmental impact of polymeric flocculants used in industrial wastewater treatment. The possibility of conducting a full life cycle and thus manufacturing process analysis allows for reliable and accurate identification of the sources of environmental hazards and the impact of new products on the environment. Newly synthesized waste-based polymers are water soluble and possess the properties of flocculants, while reducing the parameters in industrial wastewater. In the paper, there are presented the results of the analysis conducted using LCA technique for the assessment of the impact of modified waste phenol formaldehyde resin (Novolak) on the environment. LCA technique was used to assess the impact of the new flocculant applied in the process of metallurgical wastewater treatment taking into account the environmental impact of the fl occulant manufacturing process

Bakalářská práce srovnává efektivnost hospodaření dvou neziskových organizací. První z nich je Občanské sdružení svatá Barbora a druhou organizací je Nadace policistů a hasičů. Práce srovnává jednotlivé ukazatele, díky nimž lze hodnotit hospodaření jednotlivých organizací.Non-profit organisations fill in the gaps in the market that exist between the state, businesses and households. Charity and non-profit are the main features of non-profit organisations. This bachelor dissertation compares the management effectiveness of two non-profit organisations, the Saint Barbara Civic Association and the Police Officers and Fire-fighters Foundation, and compares the individual indicators so that the management of the particular organisations can be assessed.153 - Katedra veřejné ekonomikyvelmi dobř

    LACK OF STOCKS RISK REDUCTION

    Get PDF
Within the present market conditions, stock control is ranked among very complicated spheres. Stocks not only cover possible outages in deliveries but also mean cost burdens for the company. Lately, a number of companies makes effort to determine exactly the amount of the buffer stocks which can protect them against negative effects of the surrounding. Logical conceptions offer a possibility of the use of different instruments for the determination of the buffer stock. However, a number of them uses a complicated mathematical apparatus, which is unsuitable for the practical usage under the industrial conditions. This article deals with an analysis of the use of a simple operative instrument for the determination of the amount of the buffer stock. For the analytic part, data from selected industrial enterprises in the Czech Republic were used

Comparative analysis of toxic responses of organic extracts from diesel and selected alternative fuels engine emissions in human lung BEAS-2B cells

This study used toxicogenomics to identify the complex biological response of human lung BEAS-2B cells treated with organic components of particulate matter in the exhaust of a diesel engine. First, we characterized particles from standard diesel (B0), biodiesel (methylesters of rapeseed oil) in its neat form (B100) and 30% by volume blend with diesel fuel (B30), and neat hydrotreated vegetable oil (NEXBTL100). The concentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and their derivatives in organic extracts was the lowest for NEXBTL100 and higher for biodiesel. We further analyzed global gene expression changes in BEAS-2B cells following 4 h and 24 h treatment with extracts. The concentrations of 50 mu g extract/mL induced a similar molecular response. The common processes induced after 4 h treatment included antioxidant defense, metabolism of xenobiotics and lipids, suppression of pro-apoptotic stimuli, or induction of plasminogen activating cascade; 24 h treatment affected fewer processes, particularly those involved in detoxification of xenobiotics, including PAHs. The majority of distinctively deregulated genes detected after both 4 h and 24 h treatment were induced by NEXBTL100; the deregulated genes included, e.g., those involved in antioxidant defense and cell cycle regulation and proliferation. B100 extract, with the highest PAH concentrations, additionally affected several cell cycle regulatory genes and p38 signaling.Web of Science1711art. no. 183

ObhájenoThe bachelor thesis deals with public space, specifically public space in the context of the village. The theoretical part is focused on public space in a general sense, followed by the terms countryside, village and population. The last chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to public space in village. The practical part is focused to a public space in a particular village of Zbůch, where I am using a questionnaire to find out how the public space in the village in used and what are the residents' opinions on his condition and possible changes

Aim: The aim of the following review is to analyze the role of nurses in promoting relations between parents and premature newborns according to the concept of Family-Centered Care. Design: The type of study – review. Methods: Both licensed and free-access electronic databases were used to search relevant studies from Czech and foreign sources for the period 2000–2015: CINAHL EBSCOhost, SCOPUS, PubMed and Medline. The selection criteria for the studies to be analyzed were as follows: both quantitative and qualitative studies taking into account parents aged 19–44 with premature newborns from 24–36 weeks of gestation. Experimental studies and imprecisely defined studies were eliminated. Only 21 of the 49 research studies considered met the selection criteria. This review involves seven of the studies: three quantitative studies – one randomized study, two cross-sectional studies, and four case studies. Results: Based on analysis of the studies, it appears that Family-Centered Care should be considered an essential means of support for parents of premature newborns. The role of nurses in promoting relations between parents and their premature newborns was highly appreciated in the areas of therapeutic communication, efficient work organization and choice of appropriate interventions. Conclusion: Studies focusing on the application of the principles of Family-Centered Care stress its advantages for parents, premature newborns, and medical staff. The conclusion of most of the studies is that nurses play a unique role in eliminating the degree of trauma experienced by parents, and in promoting relations between parents and premature newborns according to the concept of Family-Centered Care

Lessons learned from environmental risk assessment within the framework of Seveso Directive in Czech Republic and Italy

Major environmental accidents prevention and risk minimization are currently two the most challenging research issues within the broad framework of sustainable development. This consideration applies to a wide range of process establishments, where the handling and production of dangerous chemicals poses a real threat for the environment for short and long term. Currently, any new establishment with the potential to create a major accident has to be carefully evaluated at the design stage and according to the changes introduced by the Seveso III Directive concerning its scope, particularly regarding substances with acute toxicity, as well as the increased requirements for public information and external emergency. This paper aims at providing experiences, knowledge, as well as new approaches to the prevention of major accidents, with impacts on the environment, driven by the implementation of the new Seveso Directive. We firstly present a statistical analysis on environmental accidents in two European Countries where completely different watery surface and sea coastline extension cause different patterns and impact in case of an accident. Subsequently, we develop a methodological approach within the Seveso framework, focused on environmental risk assessment. At last, the recognized selected methodologies are illustrated by a practical Czech case-study and the findings are used to make recommendations concerning the need of considering safety barriers and technical measures for equally protecting human health and the environment.Web of Science49604
