Life Skill provides an individual with the courage and strength to tackle their day-to-day challenges. This in turn allows them to live life with a positive and responsible attitude and therefore tends to be one of the essential elements for a happy and peaceful life. As teachers are the backbone of our education system, therefore, it is not only crucial but rather critical in the current time that every teacher should be trained not only in their teaching skill but also in life skills. Life skills are an important attribute to everyone’s personal and professional life. It seems to play a major role in the teaching profession. Knowledge of different life skills allows teachers to upgrade and enhance their teaching skills. According to WHO life skills have been defined as “the abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that enables individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life”. In this paper, ten life skills, as suggested by WHO i.e Self-awareness skill, Interpersonal skill, Effective Communication skill, Problem Solving, Decision Making, Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Coping with Stress, Coping with Emotion, and Empathy, are explored in pupil teachers studying B.Ed colleges and their correlation with teaching effectiveness. The Descriptive Survey method is used to collect data by using a five-point rating scale of life skills tool and Pearson’s correlation method is used to find out the correlation between life skills and Teaching Effectiveness. The random Cluster method of sampling is used for a sample of 100 Pupil teachers of two B.Ed colleges of Ghaziabad district affiliated to C.C.S. University Meerut. The result of the analysis shows a high positive correlation between different life skills and Teaching Effectiveness

The most popular type of hair treatment is shampooing. Shampoos are an aqueous or creamy soap or detergent solution for washing hair, cleaning of hair shaft and scalp. In the current environment, it appears unlikely that herbal shampoo will be popular with customers, despite the fact that it performs better and is safer than synthetic shampoo. A more extreme strategy to popularizing herbal shampoo would be to alter customer expectations of what a shampoo should be, with a focus on safety and efficacy. The goal of this research work was to develop and formulate herbo cosmetic prepration using antifungal drug and contain polyherbal ingredients in shampoo for cosmetic purposes. In this work replace dangerous synthetic ingredients in herbal shampoo formulations with a safe alternative. Natural anti- dandruff shampoo was developed by utilizing a anti-fungal herbs Argemone mexicana and Caolotropis gigantea and herbal ingredients such as Spindus mukorrosi and Acacia concinna and the resulting formulation was evaluation for pH, viscosity, foaming stability, and evaluation satisfaction. Dandruff is a widespread scalp ailment induced by the Malassezia furfur. It can be totally eradicated, however it can be efficiently regulated and handled by such approach. Several anti-fungal drugs are used in hair care preparations for the management of dandruff in the current study

Aims: This study aims to develop a sustainable healthcare model using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Methods: First and foremost, the authors have identified the factors associated with the sustainable healthcare system through a literature review. Based on these factors, a questionnaire was developed and administered to 25 healthcare organizations from December 2020 to March 2021. An Analytical Hierarchy Process is utilized to rank the factors, and a conceptual model is developed. The Felix Hospitals substantiate this model. The authors have also applied sensitivity analysis to validate the results achieved via AHP. Results: The AHP model demonstrates the focus is on the environment first, followed by the economic and social dimensions sustainably. The validated model was also substantiated by the hospital (Felix) results and sensitivity analysis. Conclusion: It can be concluded that hospital sustainability highly depends on the environment in the first stage and economic and social sustainability in the second and third stages. The same result was achieved through AHP.  Keywords: analytical hierarchy process, hospital, sustainable healthcare

An Ensemble Classifier Based on Individual Features for Detecting Microaneurysms in Diabetic Retinopathy

    Get PDF
Individuals with diabetes are more likely to develop Diabetic Retinopathy (DR), a chronic ailment that can lead to blindness if left undiagnosed. Early-stage Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is characterized by Microaneurysms (MA), which appear as tiny red lesions on the retina. This paper investigates a unique approach for the automated early identification of microaneurysms  in eye images. A unique ensemble classifier technique is suggested in this work. Classifiers like SVM, KNN, Decision Tree, and Naïve Bayes are chosen in this study for building an ensemble model. After preprocessing the image, certain common image characteristics such as shape and intensity features were retrieved from the candidate. The mean absolute difference of each feature is computed. Based on mean ranges that would give improved classification results, an expert classifier is chosen and trained. The outputs of the classifiers are integrated for each of the distinct characteristics, and the number of categories that have been most frequently repeated is utilized to reach a final decision. The process has been comprehensively validated using two available open datasets, like e-ophtha and DIARETDB1. On the e-ophtha and DIARETDB1 datasets, the ensemble model achieved an AUC of 0.928 and 0.873, Sensitivity of 90.7% and 85%, Specificity of 90% and 91% respectively

The effect of ultrasonic pre-treatment on the catalytic activity of lipases in aqueous and non-aqueous media

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Ultrasound has been used to accelerate the rates of numerous chemical reactions, however its effects on enzymatic reactions have been less extensively studied. While known to result in the acceleration of enzyme-catalysed reactions, ultrasonication has also been shown to induce enzyme inactivation. In this study we investigated the effects of ultrasonic pretreatment on lipases in both aqueous and non-aqueous media.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Our results show that the ultrasonic pre-irradiation of lipases (from <it>Burkholderia cepacia </it>and <it>Pseudomonas fluorescens</it>) in aqueous buffer and organic solvents enhanced enzymic activities. In addition, we report the enhancement of hydrolytic (esterase) and transesterification activities.</p> <p>On using pre-irradiated enzyme, we found that the conversion rate for the transesterification of ethyl butyrate to butyl butyrate, increased from 66% to 82%. Similarly, a 79% conversion of <it>Jatropha </it>oil to biodiesel was observed upon employing pre-irradiated enzyme, in contrast to a 34% conversion with untreated enzyme.</p> <p>CD spectra showed that while the enzyme's secondary structure remained largely unaffected, the microenvironments of aromatic amino acids were altered, with perturbation of the tertiary structure having also occurred. SEM analysis demonstrated significant morphological changes in the enzyme preparation as a result of ultrasonication.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>In contrast to the effects of ultrasonic irradiation on other enzymes, for the lipases focused upon in this study, we report an enhancement of biocatalytic activity, which is thought to originate from morphological changes on the macro and molecular levels.</p

Background: India has one of the highest Vitamin D deficiency rates in pregnancy in the world and yet we have limited research to study its various effects from our country. We aim to study the prevalence of Vitamin D deficiency in pregnancy and effect on neonatal outcome after supplementation. Methods: 200 pregnant women were recruited at 26 weeks and more. They were divided into sufficient group (normal levels of the vitamin), supplemented group (recruited at 26 weeks and supplemented for 8 weeks) and unsupplemented group (recruited after 34 weeks and so could not be supplemented) based on time of recruitment and levels of vitamin D. They were followed up till discharge of newborn from the hospital. Neonatal outcomes were noted. Results: The prevalence of Vitamin D deficiency in pregnancy in present study was 94.5%. Vegetarians and urban residents were more likely to have this deficiency. Admissions to NICU were significantly less in neonates of vitamin D supplemented women. Conclusions: The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency is very high during pregnancy and further studies are needed to clearly define its role in neonatal outcome

Earthworm coelomocytes as nanoscavenger of ZnO NPs

    Get PDF
Earthworms can ‘biotransform’ or ‘biodegrade’ chemical contaminants, rendering them harmless in their bodies, and can bioaccumulate them in their tissues. They ‘absorb’ the dissolved chemicals through their moist ‘body wall’ due to the interstitial water and also ingest by ‘mouth’ while soil passes through the gut. Since the advent of the nanotechnology era, the environmental sink has been continuously receiving engineered nanomaterials as well as their derivatives. Our current understanding of the potential impact of nanomaterials and their natural scavenger is limited. In the present investigation, we studied the cellular uptake of ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) by coelomocytes especially by chloragocytes of Eisenia fetida and their role as nanoscavenger. Results from exposure to 100- and 50-nm ZnO NPs indicate that coelomocytes of the earthworm E. fetida show no significant DNA damage at a dose lower than 3 mg/l and have the potential ability to uptake ZnO NPs from the soil ecosystem and transform them into microparticles
