    Impact of a personnel performance evaluation system on organization’s objectives achievement – the case of University of Algarve

    Este estudo é parte de uma revisão de literatura existente sobre sistemas de avaliação de desempenho, tendo abordado a capacidade destes sistemas para ajudar organizações a implementar uma estratégia e para melhorar o seu desempenho. O estudo investigou o atual sistema de avaliação de desempenho do pessoal docente da Universidade do Algarve e os objetivos estratégicos da Universidade. Com base nas perceções dos professores da Universidade, visava compreender se o primeiro contribui para alcançar o último. Para coletar os dados necessários para responder à pergunta deste estudo, foi utilizado um questionário eletrónico que foi enviado via e-mail a todos os professores de todas as escolas e faculdades da Universidade do Algarve. Os resultados obtidos mostram que, embora a maioria dos professores pense que o sistema de avaliação de desempenho do pessoal docente deveria existir na Universidade, muitos indicaram que não há coordenação suficiente entre os indicadores de desempenho do sistema e os objetivos estratégicos da Universidade para serem eficazes e alcançá-los.This study revised the existing literature on performance measurement systems and its ability to help organizations to implement their strategies and enhance their performance. It investigated the current academic personnel performance evaluation system of the University of Algarve and the University’s strategic objectives. Based on perceptions of the University’s professors it aimed to understand if the former helps to achieve the latter. Self-administered questionnaires distributed via e-mails were used to collect necessary data to answer this study’s question. Questionnaires were sent to all academics of all the schools and faculties of the University of Algarve. Results show that although majority of professors think that academic personnel performance evaluation system should be in place at the University, many indicated that there are no sufficient linkages between the system’s performance indicators and the University’s strategic objectives in order to be effective in achieving them

    Change of the glass's surface properties using plasma treatment is a progressive technological method that allows achieves the surface layer with desired physical properties. To choose technological parameters ion-plasma treatment of the surface of the glass at atmospheric pressure, is necessary to examine potential variation of the plasma flow rate and the concentration of positive ions of the implementation. Electrical probe method is one of the most widely used and informative methods of plasma diagnostics which allows to establish its local characteristics. To investigate the potential distribution, temperature and concentration of positive particles in the section of the plasma flow used single electrical probe, which is a tungsten wire with a diameter of 0.3 mm and a length of 2 mm, placed in an alundum insulators. As a result of probing the plasma flow were obtained dependences of the ionization degree and the positive ions concentration of the material implantation from the temperature. Found that by using the developed plasmatrons for the process of ion-plasma treatment of the glass surface greatly increases the positive ions concentration of the material implantation and the degree of ionization the plasma flow.В статье на основании зондовой методики исследовано изменение потенциала плазменного потока и оценена концентрация положительных ионов материала внедрения при ионно-плазменной модификации поверхности стекла при атмосферном давлении.У статті на підставі зондової методики досліджено зміну потенціалу плазмового потоку й проведена оцінка концентрації позитивних іонів матеріалу впровадження при іонно-плазмовій модифікації поверхні скла при атмосферному тиску

    Dimerization energetics of DNA minor groove binders

    The energy analysis of a dimerization in aqueous solutions of seven biologically active lexitropsins, which are different by structure, was carried out with the use of the molecular simulation method. The main stabilization of dimers was shown to take place owing to hydrophobic and intermolecular van der Waals interactions. The latter are mainly associated with energyfavorable contacts between the aromatic rings of molecules and their peptide groups. Despite the significant dipole moments of the molecules concerned, the electrostatic interactions are relatively weak and destabilize the complexes because of the unfavorable relative arrangement of molecular dipoles.     Inoculation of wheat with Azospirillum sp. bacteria and study of their germinated portions effects on common carp performance and health aspects

    Background: As the germinated wheat regarded as a natural source of prebiotic, and the importance of prebiotic on performance and health of fish, so the effect of feed containing various amount of germinated wheat as a natural source of prebiotic, on growth performance, blood chemical, immunity indices, health and biological parameters in common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.).Methods: The first experiment started by planting pots in the plastic house, the pots arranged according to a Randomized Complete Design (RCD) layout with three replications. In each replication, ten seeds planted in the pots. The replications divided and arranged on 2 treatments, a control treatment taken in which seeds will be not inoculated with Azospirillum bacteria, the second treatment inoculated seeds with Azospirillum species which isolated from soil and culturing on its selective media then incubated at 28 0C for 7 days, after that the colonies of bacteria activated in its broth culture media at 28 0C for 3 days and it will be used as a liquid inoculum for the seeds. The second experiment the rearing of fish conducted at the Fish diseases Laboratory, College of Veterinary Medicine/ University of Sulaimani. 100 common carp (Cyprinus. carpio L.) reared for70 days.Result: Negative control T1 was higher significantly in Hepatic somatic index, T1 and T3 in Gills somatic index. T4 increased significantly in FCR, and Intestine Length index. T3 and T5 increased growth performance parameters and Feed and Protein efficiency ratio. T1, T3, and T4 increased the Intestine weight index. T4 and T5 increased the RBC. T3, T4, and T5 increased the ALT, and Globulin. MCH, MCHC, Lymphocytes, and CKI increased significantly in T5. All treatment groups increased each of Condition factor, and Granulocytes as compared to negative control. No significant differences seen in both Kidney, Spleen somatic index, Hb.Conclusion: According to the results obtained the inoculation of wheat with Azospirillum sp. bacteria enhance the common carp performance and health aspects by means of some biological parameters
