    Get PDF
Background Research has widely evidenced the effects of war and political violence on the functioning of children, with a great accord in diagnosing children\u27s psychological burdens related to their exposure to violence. Yet, within this literature, the influence of the chronic sense of insecurity on their psychological functioning during and after hostilities remains unexplored. Methods The present study aimed at exploring interrelated relationships between the perceived insecurity and the children\u27s psychological well-being and their adjustment to trauma. Based on drawings and walk-along interviews with 75 Palestinian children, residents of both the West Bank and Gaza Strip, we offer an analysis of human security-related risks and protective factors that contribute to either promoting or undermining the child\u27s psychological functioning in a context characterized by chronic instability and political violence. Results A complex network of sources of security and insecurity emerged from the narratives depicting an ecological portrait encompassing the determinants of children\u27s mental health and psychological functioning. The TCA led to the identification of eight main themes: school and associativism; social relations and house as a source of security/insecurity; military occupation as a source of insecurity; national and political identity as a source of safety; mosque and spirituality as a source of safety/unsafety; environment as a source of security/insecurity; and mental health. Discussion An approach encompassing human security as an explicative model can help in exhaustively portraying the complexity of the Palestinian children\u27s suffering and their competence in adjusting to their traumatic reality. The study draws attention to social, political, environmental and economic determinants of children psychological well-being

Milk and dairy products are often dried to reduce weight, to facilitate transportation, to extend shelf life. For examplе, dry fermentеd milk products occupy a special placе in the dairy industry. Currently, thеir assortment is significantly еxpanding and the approach to food products of this group is qualitatively changing. The articlе presents the results of drying fermented milk protein products in two ways: using thermal and microwave drying. It was found that thе duration of moisture loss in the product during heat drying increased with a decrease in temperature. With an increase in temperature from 400C to 500C, there was a decrease of about 25% in the moisture content of the test samplеs during 5 hours of drying in the dehydrator. Drying with using of microwaves, the drying time decreased with increasing microwave power. The 900 W power reduced the drying time by 2 times compared to the 270 W power to obtain a 15% humidity result and a water activity indicator in the range from 0.382 to 0.394 units

BINGE EATING DISORDERS; UPDATED AND EMERGING APPROACHES

    Get PDF
Objective: Binge eating disorders (BED) recently become a global health care issue for clinicians with detrimental effects on all organ systems. A multidisciplinary strategy including pharmacotherapy is required for its management. Methods: This review is intended to comparatively evaluate the relative efficacy of different pharmacological agents in BED treatment with new therapeutic approaches, focusing on the clinical evidence and on Phase III randomized controlled trials. Results: Data suggest that certain treatments have advantages over placebos to reduce binge eating features; however, the small duration of such research with the lack of adequately sized trials was the major limitation in interpreting these findings. Furthermore, these medications are mostly not greatly efficient for BED associated with obesity except for topiramate, which markedly improves the features of binge episodes with weight loss. Till now, lisdexamfetamine is still the only drug with regulatory permission for BED therapy; however, its weight loss efficacy has not been established. Conclusion: Drugs alone or in combination approaches may be useful pharmacotherapies to yield promising outcomes acutely and over longer-term follow-up in the treatment of BED

Determination of the parameters of freeze-drying honey

    Get PDF
The article presents the results of studies of freeze-drying of various types of honey.   The purpose of the research was to determine the optimal parameters for the freeze-drying of honey.   The physical and chemical parameters of three types of honey produced in the East Kazakhstan region were previously studied. The results showed that the studied prototypes meet the regulatory requirements for the quality of natural honey. It has been established that in terms of moisture content, sunflower honey differs from mountain honey and sweet clover (15 %, 17.3 % and 17.2 %, respectively), and also contains a high amount of reducing sugars (87.9 %), however, the mass fraction of sucrose is 2.5 %. It is noted that the highest content of sucrose in mountain honey is 4.5 %. The diastase number is an indicator of the quality and naturalness of honey and, according to the requirements of GOST, should be at least 8 Gote units, the results show that the studied samples of honey contain from 13.1 to 15.1 units, which confirms the influence of the geographical origin of honey. According to the value of water activity, all types of honey are products with low humidity and long-term storage. The optimal technological modes of freeze-drying of honey have been established, which range from minus 30 °C to minus 40 °C degrees

We aimed to assess the validity (criterion and cross-cultural validity) and reliability of the first occupational burnout (OB) detection tool designed for healthcare professionals in Belgium in the context of Swiss medical practice. First, we assessed the sensitivity and specificity of the Tool. We developed this tool based on the consultation reports of 42 patients and compared its detection to the results of the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (OLBI), filled-in by patients before a consultation. Second, we performed an inter-rater reliability (IRR) assessment on the OB symptoms and detection reached by the Tool between a psychiatrist, two psychologists, and an occupational physician. The Tool correctly identified over 80% of patients with OB, regardless of the cutoff value used for OLBI scores, reflecting its high sensitivity. Conversely, its specificity strongly varied depending on the OLBI cutoff. There was a slight to fair overall agreement between the four raters on the detection of OB and the number of OB symptoms. Around 41% of symptoms showed a substantial to an almost perfect agreement, and 36% showed a slight to a moderate agreement. The Tool seems useful for identifying OB of moderate and strong severity in both the Belgian and Swiss contexts

The research is devoted to the technological modes of germination of triticale grain of the Asiada variety, as well as factors affecting the germination of grain. The purpose of the study is the influence of technological modes of germination of triticale grain of the Asiada variety. In the article, studies have been carried out and regression equations have been obtained describing the dependences of the indicated quality indicators of the germination modes of triticale grain of the Asiada variety on the factors influencing them tв, τ, w and tз To optimize the technological modes of processing Asiada grain, the crude protein content was chosen as the target function. Optimization of the processing modes of triticale grain of the Asiada variety was carried out by the method of nonlinear programming. The following optimal technological modes of grain processing were obtained: water temperature tb = 15 °C; germination time τ = 72 h; grain moisture w = 13%; grain temperature tz = 10 °C. With these optimal grain processing modes, the target function was 19.11%. The practical significance of the technology for the production of compound feeds using sprouted triticale grain in order to improve quality and increase shelf life

As you know, mаre's milk is used for the prevention of lung diseases, as well as for the treаtment of gаstrointestinal diseases to restore the disturbed intestinal microflora. In this regаrd, it is especially important to preserve the physico-chemical characteristics of mare's milk during its storage before processing. The pаper presents the results of studies of the technological characteristics of mare's milk produced in four peasant and farm farms of the Almaty region according to the seаsons of the year. It is known that, having a high biological value, mare's milk, among other types of milk of farm animals, is the most suitable raw material in the production of dаiry products for baby and dietary nutrition. Low fat and protein content, as well as high lactose content are distinctive characteristics of mare's milk. However, their content depends on the feeding conditions, breed and age, geographical location. It was found that the mаss fraction of fat ranges from 1.2 % to 2.8 %, the mass fraction of protein was 2.0–2.36 %, SOMO - 8.35-8.73 %. Fluctuations in the quality indicators of mare's milk are explained by the influence of the seаson of the year, feeding and maintenance in various peasant and farm farms
