Reputation management: the effect of CEO behavior during a crisis

    Get PDF
This purpose of this thesis was to study how CEO behavior during a crisis impacts the organization\u27s lasting reputation. A thorough review of relevant publications, as well as intercept surveys, content analyses and email surveys, was conducted to test the hypotheses. Fifty intercept surveys were conducted over two weekends to discover opinions about the issue. Respondents appearing to be age 25 or older were randomly selected. A content analysis was conducted using articles from Newsweek and The Wall Street Journal to determine the media\u27s tone on the CEOs of Odwalla, Jack in the Box, Dow Coming and Exxon. A total of ten articles, five from each publication, were coded for each company. An email survey was sent to Fortune 100 companies to ascertain whether or not they had crisis communication plans. Of 100, 26 companies responded. It was concluded that: 1) the most successful American companies have crisis communication plans; 2) the CEO must receive positive media coverage during a crisis and 3) the public does not associate crises with company reputation over time

NALNET book system: Cost benefit study

    Get PDF
The goals of the NASA's library network system, NALNET, the functions of the current book system, the products and services of a book system required by NASA Center libraries, and the characteristics of a system that would best supply those products and services were assessed. Emphasis was placed on determining the most cost effective means of meeting NASA's requirements for an automated book system. Various operating modes were examined including the current STIMS file, the PUBFILE, developing software improvements for products as appropriate to the Center needs, and obtaining cataloging and products from the bibliographic utilities including at least OCLC, RLIN, BNA, and STIF. It is recommended that NALNET operate under the STIMS file mode and obtain cataloging and products from the bibliographic utilities. The recommendations are based on the premise that given the current state of the art in library automation it is not cost effective for NASA to maintain a full range of cataloging services on its own system. The bibliographic utilities can support higher quality systems with a greater range of services at a lower total cost

Local Magnetic Inhomogeneities in Lightly Doped BaFe2_2As2_2

We report 75^{75}As NMR measurements in BaFe2_2As2_2 doped with Ni. Like Co, Ni doping suppresses the antiferromagnetic and structural phase transitions and gives rise to superconductivity for sufficiently large Ni doping. The spin lattice relaxation rate diverges at TNT_N, with a critical exponent consistent with 3D ordering of local moments. In the ordered state the spectra quickly broaden inhomogeneously with doping. We extract the average size of the ordered moment as a function of doping, and show that a model in which the order remains commensurate but with local amplitude variations in the vicinity of the dopant fully explains our observations.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure

Enantioselective Iridium-Catalyzed Allylic Alkylation Reactions of Masked Acyl Cyanide Equivalents

    Get PDF
The first enantioselective iridium-catalyzed allylic alkylation reaction of a masked acyl cyanide (MAC) reagent has been developed. The transformation allows for the use of an umpoled synthon, which serves as a carbon monoxide equivalent. The reaction proceeds with good yield and excellent selectivity up to gram scale for a wide range of substituted allylic electrophiles, delivering products amenable to the synthesis of highly desirable, enantioenriched vinylated α-aryl carbonyl derivatives
