    UNUSAUAL PRESENTATION OF SUBMANDIBULAR DUCT AND GLAND CALCUI: CASE REPORT

    Get PDF
    Sialolithiasis is one of the most common pathologies of the submandibular gland; sialoliths account for about 80 percent of all salivary duct calculi.The majority of sialolith occurs in the submandibular gland or its duct and is common cause of acute and chronic infection. Salivary stones larger than 15 mm are classified as giant sialoliths. They are uncommon in the practice of otolaryngology, and their management has always been a therapeutic challenge. This report presents the two unusual and rare cases of large sialolith of the submandibular duct as well as gland measuring 70x11mm and 54x25mm respectively.

    Hall effect in cobalt-doped TiO2−δ_{2-\delta}

    Full text link
    We report Hall effect measurements on thin films of cobalt-doped TiO2−δ_{2-\delta}. Films with low carrier concentrations (1018^{18} - 1019^{19}) yield a linear behavior in the Hall data while those having higher carrier concentrations (1021^{21} - 1022^{22}) display anomalous behavior near zero field. In the entire range of carrier concentration, n-type conduction is observed. The appearance of the anomalous behavior is accompanied by a possible structural change from rutile TiO2_{2} to Ti_[n}O2n−1_{2n-1} Magneli phase(s)

    Objective: The aim of present study was to prepare nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) based Triamcinolone acetonide (TA). Methods: Nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) consisted of solid lipid and liquid lipid are a new type of lipid nanoparticles, prepared by using solvent diffusion and high pressure homogenization methods, which offer the advantage of improved drug loading capacity and release properties. Glyceryl monostearate selected as the solid lipid, capmul MCM C8 as the liquid lipid, polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) as the surfactant. NLCs dispersion was characterized by particle size analysis, zeta potential, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry, and an in vitro release study. Results: Optimized NLCs loaded with TA were exhibited spherical shape with particle size 286.1 nm, polydispersity index 0.317, zeta potential-21.9 mV and entrapment efficiency 86.19% respectively. The result of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed that drug was dispersed in NLCs in a crystalline state. In vitro release studies revealed that drug release of optimized batch was 8.34 % and 88.84% at 1h and 8h respectively. The release kinetics of the optimized NLCs best fitted the peppas-korsmeyer model. Furthermore, morphological investigations by SEM showed that optimized batch exhibit a spherical shape and a smooth surface. Conclusion: Thus, the results indicated that successfully prepared TA-loaded NLCs and could potentially be exploited as a carrier with improved drug loading capacity and sustained drug release. The present results demonstrated that these systems could be a promising platform for inflammatory diseases, in particular for psoriasis topical therapy

    The common toad, Duttaphrynus melanostictus, Schneider, 1799) Frost et al., 2006 from Aurangabad was found to harbor three species of nematodes; Oswaldocruzia goezei (Skrjabin and Schulz, 1952), Trichuris globusa (V. Linstow, 1901, Ransom, 1911), Oxysomatium macintoshii (Karve, 1927). Among all the parasites, Trichuris globulosa represents the accidental new host record for D. melanostictus in Maharashtra

    Temperature dependent optical studies of Ti1−x_{1-x}Cox_xO2_2

    We present the results of Raman and photoluminescence (PL) studies on epitaxial anatase phase Ti1−x_{1-x}Cox_xO2_2 films for xx = 0-0.07, grown by pulsed laser deposition. The low doped system (xx=0.01 and 0.02) shows a Curie temperature of ~700 K in the as-grown state. The Raman spectra from the doped and undoped films confirm their anatase phase. The photoluminescence spectrum is characterized by a broad emission from self-trapped excitons (STE) at 2.3 eV at temperatures below 120 K. This peak is characteristic of the anatase-phase TiO2_2 and shows a small blueshift with increasing doping concentration. In addition to the emission from STE, the Co-doped samples show two emission lines at 2.77 eV and 2.94 eV that are absent in the undoped film indicative of a spin-flip energy.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figure

    A Survey Paper on Secure Privacy Preserving Structure for Content Based Information Retrieval on Large Scale

    It is very essential to protect personal confidential data that we share or search through web. Previously there are number of privacy preserving mechanism has been developed. Here we develop a new privacy protection framework for huge- content-based information retrieval. We are offering protection in two layers. Initially, robust hash values are taken as queries to avoid revealing of unique features or content. Then, the client has to select to skip some of the bits in a hash value for increasing the confusion for the server. Since we are reducing information it is not so easy for servers to know about interest of the client. The server needs to give back the hash values of all promising candidates to the client. The client will find the best match by searching in the candidate list. Because we are only sharing hash values between server and client the privacy of client and server will be protected. We begin the idea of tunable privacy, where we can adjust level of privacy protection according to the policy. We can realized it by hash based. It can be realized through piecewise inverted indexing based on hash. We have to divide extracted feature vector into pieces and index each and every piece with a value. Every value is linked with an inverted index list. The framework has been comprehensively tested with very huge image database. We have estimated both privacy-preserving performance and retrieval performance for those content recognition application. Couple of robust hash algorithm is being used. One is based on discrete wavelet transform; the other is based on the random projections. Both of these algorithms demonstrate acceptable recital in association with state-of-the-art retrieval schemes. We believe the bulk voting attack for guesstimate the query recognition and sort. Experiment results confirm that this attack is a peril when there are near-duplicates, but the success rate is depends upon the number of distinct item and omitted bits, success rate decrees when omitted bits are increased

    An Overview of HVDC Power Transmission System with Voltage Source Converter

    Get PDF
    A general platform is introduced to study thedynamics of power systems with high voltage dc (HVDC) transmission links. Small-signal stability, voltage stability, and interaction phenomena of power systems with both line-commutated-converter HVDC (LCC-HVDC) and voltage-source- converter HVDC (VSC-HVDC) are addressed using the proposed platform. In quest of high efficiency, power density and problems of bulk power transmission over long distance, requirement of full control over power transmission and growing interest to incorporate renewable energy source into the grid has led to develop a new era of high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system. The researchers have developed many new HVDC configurations and voltage source converter (VSC) based HVDC transmission is one of them. Their high efficiency, compact size, high reliability, short installation and commissioning period and low operating and maintenance cost make it suitable choice for HVDC transmission. The HVDC system with power converter acts as a backbone and provides high reliability with a long useful life to support the AC electrical system. The power conversion i.e. AC to DC or vice versa is achieved by controllable electronic switches in a 3-phase bridge configuration.The wide spread use of AC-DC converters for various applications has resulted in power quality pollution leading to failure of sensitive equipments, reduced efficiency, etc
