Intelligent spectrum control in heterogeneous networks with high security capability
In this letter, an intelligent spectrum control (ISC) scheme is proposed to enhance the communication security performance in heterogeneous networks (Het-Nets), where the available spectrum can be efficiently managed by avoiding interferences flexibly with the aid of spectrum sensing technique. We analyze the security performance for the Het-Nets, and derive the closed-form expressions for the reliable transmission probability and the secrecy probability of the authorized user. Our numerical simulation results validate the accuracy of the analytical expressions, and imply that the Het-Nets with the ISC scheme can achieve a high security performance
A model-driven deep reinforcement learning heuristic algorithm for resource allocation in ultra-dense cellular networks
Resource allocation in ultra dense network (UDN) is an multi-objective optimization problem since it has to consider the tradeoff among spectrum efficiency (SE), energy efficiency (EE) and fairness. The existing methods can not effectively solve this NP-hard nonconvex problem, especially in the presence of limited channel state information (CSI). In this paper, we investigate a novel model-driven deep reinforcement learning assisted resource allocation method. We first design a novel deep neural network (DNN)-based optimization framework consisting of a series of Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM) iterative procedures, which makes the CSI as the learned weights. Then a novel channel information absent Q-learning resource allocation (CIAQ) algorithm is proposed to train the DNN-based optimization framework without massive labeling data, where the SE, the EE, and the fairness can be jointly optimized by adjusting discount factor. Our simulation results show that, the proposed CIAQ with rapid convergence speed not only well characterizes the extent of optimization objective with partial CSI, but also significantly outperforms the current random initialization method of neural network and the other existing resource allocation algorithms in term of the tradeoff among the SE, EE and fairness
RepBNN: towards a precise Binary Neural Network with Enhanced Feature Map via Repeating
Binary neural network (BNN) is an extreme quantization version of
convolutional neural networks (CNNs) with all features and weights mapped to
just 1-bit. Although BNN saves a lot of memory and computation demand to make
CNN applicable on edge or mobile devices, BNN suffers the drop of network
performance due to the reduced representation capability after binarization. In
this paper, we propose a new replaceable and easy-to-use convolution module
RepConv, which enhances feature maps through replicating input or output along
channel dimension by times without extra cost on the number of
parameters and convolutional computation. We also define a set of RepTran rules
to use RepConv throughout BNN modules like binary convolution, fully connected
layer and batch normalization. Experiments demonstrate that after the RepTran
transformation, a set of highly cited BNNs have achieved universally better
performance than the original BNN versions. For example, the Top-1 accuracy of
Rep-ReCU-ResNet-20, i.e., a RepBconv enhanced ReCU-ResNet-20, reaches 88.97% on
CIFAR-10, which is 1.47% higher than that of the original network. And
Rep-AdamBNN-ReActNet-A achieves 71.342% Top-1 accuracy on ImageNet, a fresh
state-of-the-art result of BNNs. Code and models are available

A novel multiple time-frequency sequential coding strategy for hybrid brain-computer interface
BackgroundFor brain-computer interface (BCI) communication, electroencephalography provides a preferable choice due to its high temporal resolution and portability over other neural recording techniques. However, current BCIs are unable to sufficiently use the information from time and frequency domains simultaneously. Thus, we proposed a novel hybrid time-frequency paradigm to investigate better ways of using the time and frequency information.MethodWe adopt multiple omitted stimulus potential (OSP) and steady-state motion visual evoked potential (SSMVEP) to design the hybrid paradigm. A series of pre-experiments were undertaken to study factors that would influence the feasibility of the hybrid paradigm and the interaction between multiple features. After that, a novel Multiple Time-Frequencies Sequential Coding (MTFSC) strategy was introduced and explored in experiments.ResultsOmissions with multiple short and long durations could effectively elicit time and frequency features, including the multi-OSP, ERP, and SSVEP in this hybrid paradigm. The MTFSC was feasible and efficient. The preliminary online analysis showed that the accuracy and the ITR of the nine-target stimulator over thirteen subjects were 89.04% and 36.37 bits/min.SignificanceThis study first combined the SSMVEP and multi-OSP in a hybrid paradigm to produce robust and abundant time features for coding BCI. Meanwhile, the MTFSC proved feasible and showed great potential in improving performance, such as expanding the number of BCI targets by better using time information in specific stimulated frequencies. This study holds promise for designing better BCI systems with a novel coding method
