The impact of social media on teenagers was explored through a comprehensive survey-based research initiative. Employing a well- organized electronic survey method, our study was conducted at major university colleges in Panvel and various other locations, focusing on individuals aged 15-20. The research delves into students' daily interactions with social media, marking the publication of a longitudinal study investigating the influence of social media on the health of today's teenagers. This investigation unveils the multifaceted effects of social media on teens, shedding light on its potential negative consequences such as distraction, sleep disruption, exposure to bullying, rumor spreading, unrealistic perceptions of others' lives, and peer pressure. The extent of these risks appears to be correlated with the frequency of social media use among teenagers. Through the survey, we meticulously analyzed the initial plans of recent graduates during the COVID-19 pandemic. We compared them to their actual decisions, providing valuable insights into the dynamic nature of their post-graduation choices.   &nbsp

In Ayurveda, Sandhana Kalpana is particular dosage form. In Sandhana Kalpana, Asava and Arishta are included. Arishta are self generated herbal fermentation formulation in traditional medicinal system; they are considered as unique and valuable therapeutics in Ayurveda. Through traditional knowledge in literature as well as in practice exists about Arishtas and Asavas. There was great efforts to document, preserve and improve knowledge for the betterment of mankind. Vidangarishta is prepared by traditional method with special reference to Sharangdhara Samhita. This is alcoholic medicaments prepared by allowing the decoction to undergoes fermentation with addition of honey. Vidangarishta keep for fermentation about one month. After fermentation process is completed, was tested according to both Ayurvedic and modern method. Vidangarishta commonly used for Krumi (worm infection) Vyadhi. Pharmaceutical and analytical study discussed in this research article

A comparative analysis of pain reduction following a single intra-articular injection of platelet-rich plasma, steroid or normal saline in chronic external shoulder impingement syndrome

Background: Shoulder impingement is a common diagnosis for patients with pain and dysfunction of shoulder joint. Due to its chronicity of clinical manifestation of the impingement syndrome, there is a need to find new therapies that collaborate to improve pain management. Methods: A hospital based descriptive, epidemiological study was conducted with 150 patients. The patients were divided in the following three groups of 50 patients each: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) group: 50 patients received PRP, steroid group: 50 patients received steroid injection normal saline group: 50 patients received normal saline injection. Baseline visual analogue scale (VAS) score on overhead activities were recorded. After the 4th week, 12th week, and 24th week, patients were examined in the outpatient clinic. The main outcome measure was pain with overhead activities using a VAS. Results: The VAS score improved significantly in PRP group and Steroid group compared to normal saline group at the 4th week, 12th-week and 24th-week follow-up periods post injection, as per ANOVA test (p<0.05). Conclusions: PRP and steroids, both can be considered effective methods to treat pain in chronic shoulder impingement syndrome (SIS) and less invasive compared to surgical treatment. They improve the pain and hence shoulder function in chronic impingement syndrome

Comparative Study of Various Treatments For Dairy Industry Wastewater

    Get PDF
Abstract: -Dairy industries have shown tremendous growth in size and number in most countries of the world. These industries discharge wastewater which is characterized by high chemical oxygen demand, biological oxygen demand, nutrients, and organic and inorganic contents. Such wastewaters, if discharged without proper treatment, severely pollute receiving water bodies. In this article, the various recent advancements in the treatment of dairy wastewater have been discussed and stress is given on the lowest cost of the best possible treatment

Modelling the impact of social protection on tuberculosis: the S-PROTECT project.

BACKGROUND: Tackling the social determinants of Tuberculosis (TB) through social protection is a key element of the post-2015 End TB Strategy. However, evidence informing policies are still scarce. Mathematical modelling has the potential to contribute to fill this knowledge gap, but existing models are inadequate. The S-PROTECT consortium aimed to develop an innovative mathematical modelling approach to better understand the role of social protection to improve TB care, prevention and control. METHODS: S-PROTECT used a three-steps approach: 1) the development of a conceptual framework; 2) the extraction from this framework of three high-priority mechanistic pathways amenable for modelling; 3) the development of a revised version of a standard TB transmission model able to capture the structure of these pathways. As a test case we used the Bolsa Familia Programme (BFP), the Brazilian conditional cash transfer scheme. RESULTS: Assessing one of these pathways, we estimated that BFP can reduce TB prevalence by 4% by improving households income and thus their nutritional status. When looking at the direct impact via malnutrition (not income mediated) the impact was 33%. This variation was due to limited data availability, uncertainties on data transformation and the pathway approach taken. These results are preliminary and only aim to serve as illustrative example of the methodological challenges encountered in this first modelling attempt, nonetheless they suggest the potential added value of integrating TB standard of care with social protection strategies. CONCLUSIONS: Results are to be confirmed with further analysis. However, by developing a generalizable modelling framework, S-PROTECT proved that the modelling of social protection is complex, but doable and allowed to draw the research road map for the future in this field

Feasibility of a streamlined tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment initiation strategy.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the feasibility of a streamlined strategy for improving tuberculosis (TB) diagnostic evaluation and treatment initiation among patients with presumed TB. DESIGN: Single-arm interventional pilot study at five primary care health centers of a streamlined, SIngle-saMPLE (SIMPLE) TB diagnostic evaluation strategy: 1) examination of two smear results from a single spot sputum specimen using light-emitting diode fluorescence microscopy, and 2) daily transportation of smear-negative sputum samples to Xpert® MTB/RIF testing sites. RESULTS: Of 1212 adults who underwent sputum testing for TB, 99.6% had two smears examined from the spot sputum specimen. Sputum was transported for Xpert testing within 1 clinic day for 83% (907/1091) of the smear-negative patients. Of 157 (13%) patients with bacteriologically positive TB, 116 (74%) were identified using sputum smear microscopy and 41 (26%) using Xpert testing of smear-negative samples. Anti-tuberculosis treatment was initiated in 142 (90%) patients with bacteriologically positive TB, with a median time to treatment of 1 day for smear-positive patients and 6 days for smear-negative, Xpert-positive patients. CONCLUSION: The SIMPLE TB strategy led to successful incorporation of Xpert testing and rapid treatment initiation in the majority of patients with bacteriologically confirmed TB in a resource-limited setting

Effect of High Pressure Coolant on Surface Finish In Turning Operation,

    Get PDF
Abstract: Present study focuses on effect of high pressure coolant on surface finish of EN8 material during turning operation. In industry common practices is to use low pressure coolant up to 10 bar. In the present experimentation, instead of low pressure, high pressure coolant of 10 bar to 70 bar is used. The experimentation is done on CNC machine during turning operation of a particular job of EN8 material. It is concluded that increase of pressure results improved surface finish to considerable level

Myxobacterial diversity of Indian soils - How many species do we have?

    Get PDF
Myxobacteria of tropical soils is an under-explored bacterial group. We report below the results of sampling in Pune district of Western Ghats. A number of novel morphotypes were found in forest as well as urban/semi-urban soils. There was a high level of floral dissimilarity between habitats. The morphotypes detected in Pune district also differed from the northern Indian species recorded earlier. Using a species individual curve on the Pune, Lucknow and pooled data, we try to estimate the number of species that are likely to be present in India. A plausible estimate is several fold higher than the species recorded worldwide so far
