Inverse Problem Approach for Non-Perturbative QCD: Foundation

We propose a novel theoretical framework to calculate the non-perturbative QCD quantities. It starts from the dispersion relation of quantum field theory, separating the high-energy and low-energy scales and using the known perturbative theories to solve the unknown non-perturbative quantities by the inverse problem. We prove that the inverse problem of dispersion relation is ill-posed, with unique but unstable solutions. The regularization methods must be used to get the stable approximate solutions. The method is based on the strict mathematics, without any artificial assumptions. We have test some toy models to vividly show the main features of the inverse problem. It can be found that this approach can systematically improve the precision of the solutions.Comment: 23 pages, 8 figure

Objectives: Abnormal expression of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) plays a prominent role in glioma progression. However, the biological function and mechanism of lncRNA DLGAP1 antisense RNA 1 (DLGAP1-AS1) in gliomas are still unknown. Methods: The authors assessed DLGAP1-AS1 and miR-628-5p expression in glioma tissues and cell lines using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and evaluated their effects on glioma cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) using the cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay, 5-Ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine (EdU) assay, Transwell assay, and western blot, respectively. The expression of DEAD-box helicase 59 (DDX59) was quantified using western blotting, and a dual-luciferase reporter gene assay was performed to detect the interaction between DLGAP1-AS1 and miR-628-5p. Results: The authors observed increased DLGAP1-AS1 expression in glioma tissues and cell lines with higher WHO grades and shorter survival time. DLGAP1-AS1 promoted the proliferation, migration, invasion, and EMT of glioma cells, while miR-628-5p counteracted these effects. The authors identified DLGAP1-AS1 as a molecular sponge of miR-628-5p in glioma cells as the biological functions of DLGAP1-AS1 are partially mediated via miR-628-5p. In addition, DLGAP1-AS1 upregulated DDX59 expression by inhibiting miR-628-5p expression. Conclusion: The DLGAP1-AS1/miR-628-5p/DDX59 axis regulates glioma progression

A Deterministic and Storable Single-Photon Source Based on Quantum Memory

    Get PDF
A single photon source is realized with a cold atomic ensemble (87^{87}Rb atoms). In the experiment, single photons, which is initially stored in an atomic quantum memory generated by Raman scattering of a laser pulse, can be emitted deterministically at a time-delay in control. It is shown that production rate of single photons can be enhanced by a feedback circuit considerably while the single-photon quality is conserved. Thus our present single-photon source is well suitable for future large-scale realization of quantum communication and linear optical quantum computation

A Novel Interface Database of Graphene Nanoribbon from Density Functional Theory

Interfaces play a crucial role in determining the overall performance and functionality of electronic devices and systems. Driven by the data science, machine learning (ML) reveals excellent guidance for material selection and device design, in which an advanced database is crucial for training models with state-of-the-art (SOTA) precision. However, a systematic database of interfaces is still in its infancy due to the difficulties in collecting raw data in experiment and the expensive first-principles computational cost in density functional theory (DFT). In this paper, we construct ample interface structures of graphene nanoribbons (GNR), whose interfacial morphology can be precisely fabricated based on specific molecular precursors. The GNR interfaces serve as promising candidates since their bandgaps can be modulated. Their physical properties including energy bands and density of states (DOS) maps are obtained under reasonable calculation parameters. This database can provide theoretical guidance for the design of electronic devices and accelerate the ML study of various physical quantities

    Magmatic record of India-Asia collision

This work was financially co-supported by Chinese Academy of Sciences (XDB03010301) and other Chinese funding agencies (Project 973: 2011CB403102 and 2015CB452604; NSFC projects: 41225006, 41273044, and 41472061).New geochronological and geochemical data on magmatic activity from the India-Asia collision zone enables recognition of a distinct magmatic flare-up event that we ascribe to slab breakoff. This tie-point in the collisional record can be used to back-date to the time of initial impingement of the Indian continent with the Asian margin. Continental arc magmatism in southern Tibet during 80-40 Ma migrated from south to north and then back to south with significant mantle input at 70-43 Ma. A pronounced flare up in magmatic intensity (including ignimbrite and mafic rock) at ca. 52-51 Ma corresponds to a sudden decrease in the India-Asia convergence rate. Geological and geochemical data are consistent with mantle input controlled by slab rollback from ca. 70 Ma and slab breakoff at ca. 53 Ma. We propose that the slowdown of the Indian plate at ca. 51 Ma is largely the consequence of slab breakoff of the subducting Neo-Tethyan oceanic lithosphere, rather than the onset of the India-Asia collision as traditionally interpreted, implying that the initial India-Asia collision commenced earlier, likely at ca. 55 Ma.Publisher PDFPeer reviewe
