Circuit Breaker Fault Diagnosis Method Based on Improved One-Dimensional Convolutional Neural Network

    Get PDF
Aiming at the problems of manual feature extraction and poor generalization ability of model in traditional circuit breaker fault diagnosis technology, a circuit breaker fault diagnosis method based on improved one-dimensional convolutional neural network is proposed. Firstly, the input feature sequence is adaptively weighted by self-attention mechanism to highlight the weight of important information; Secondly, 1 1 convolution layer and global average pooling layer are used to replace the full connection layer, which reduces the model training parameters, improves the training efficiency and prevents the phenomenon of over-fitting. Aiming at the problem of small number of data samples, the data is enhanced by Generative Adversarial Network. After adding the generated data to the original data, the accuracy of fault identification is further improved. The experimental results show that this method can effectively and accurately identify different fault types of circuit breaker, and verify the feasibility of its engineering application

A non‐linear adaptive excitation control scheme for feedback linearized synchronous generations in multimachine power systems

    Get PDF
A new adaptive scheme is proposed in this paper to design excitation controllers for feedback linearized models of synchronous generators in multimachine power systems in order to ensure the stability during large disturbances. The proposed scheme uses speed deviations of synchronous generators, readily available measured physical properties of multimachine power systems, to make all generators within a power network as partially linearized as well as to provide more damping. An adaptive scheme is then used to estimate all unknown parameters which appear in the partial feedback linearizing excitation controllers in order to avoid parameter sensitivities of existing feedback linearization techniques. The overall stability of multimachine power systems is ensured through the excitation control and parameter adaptation laws. The Lyapunov stability theory is used to theoretically analyse the stability of multimachine power systems with the proposed scheme. Simulation studies are presented to evaluate the performance of the proposed excitation control scheme for two different test systems by different operating conditions including short-circuit faults on key locations along with variations in parameters for a large duration. Furthermore, comparative results are presented to highlight the superiority of the proposed adaptive partial feedback linearizing excitation control scheme over an existing partial feedback linearizing excitation controllers

Rhabdosargus holubi (Steindachner, 1881) is a small (maximum size = 450 mm total length; Heemstra and Heemstra 2004) sparid that is distributed along the south-east coast of Africa from St Helena Bay, South Africa, to Maputo, Mozambique (Götz and Cowley 2013). Spawning occurs in the nearshore marine environment primarily during winter, specifically May–August in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) (Wallace 1975) and July–February in the South-Eastern Cape (Whitfield 1998). Individuals reach 50% sexual maturity at approximately 150 mm standard length (SL) in the Eastern Cape (Whitfield 1998). The early life stages are transported by the south-westward-flowing Agulhas Current, and recruit as post-flexion larvae and early juveniles into estuaries during late winter and early summer (Blaber 1974). The warm temperatures and high nutrient levels in estuaries favour fast growth (Blaber 1973a), and fish spend their first year of life in these environments, migrating back out to sea after reaching approximately 120 mm SL. Some individuals remain trapped in closed estuaries, where they may reach sizes greater than 200 mm SL (James et al. 2007a). Rhabdosargus holubi is the dominant estuarine-dependent marine teleost species recorded in permanently open and temporarily open/closed estuaries in the warm-temperate region, which spans the south, south-east and east coast of South Africa (Harrison 2005). The species is also an important component of the linefishery in many SouthAfrican estuaries (10–15.6% by number) (Pradervand and Baird 2002), particularly in Eastern Cape estuaries (Cowley et al. 2003). These figures underestimate the presence of R. holubi, as most individuals making use of estuaries are young, feeding predominately on filamentous macroalgae and diatom flora, and are generally too small to be caught with hook and line (De Wet and Marais 1990). James et al. (2007b) showed that R. holubi made up 34–92% of the annual seine-net catch in the East Kleinemonde Estuary. Rhabdosargus holubi is also important in the KZN shorebased linefishery, representing 4.6% of the total landed catch (Dunlop and Mann 2012)More and more investigations indicate that genetic modification has no significant or persistent effects on microbial community composition in the rice rhizosphere. Very few studies, however, have focused on its impact on functional microorganisms. This study completed a 13C-CO2 pulse-chase labeling experiment comparing the potential effects of cry1Ab gene transformation on 13C tissue distribution and rhizosphere methanogenic archaeal community composition with its parental rice variety (Ck) and a distant parental rice variety (Dp). Results showed that 13C partitioning in aboveground biomass (mainly in stems) and roots of Dp was significantly lower than that of Ck. However, there were no significant differences in 13C partitioning between the Bt transgenic rice line (Bt) and Ck. RNA-stable isotope probing combined with clone library analyses inferred that the group Methanosaetaceae was the predominant methanogenic Archaea in all three rice rhizospheres. The active methanogenic archaeal community in the Bt rhizosphere was dominated by Methanosarcinaceae, Methanosaetaceae, and Methanomicrobiaceae, while there were only two main methanogenic clusters (Methanosaetaceae and Methanomicrobiaceae) in the Ck and Dp rhizospheres. These results indicate that the insertion of cry1Ab gene into the rice genome has the potential to result in the modification of methanogenic community composition in its rhizosphere

Local Resistance in Early Medieval Chinese Historiography and the Problem of Religious Overinterpretation

Official Chinese historiography is a treasure trove of information on local resistance to the centralised empire in early medieval China (third to sixth century). Sinologists specialised in the study of Chinese religions commonly reconstruct the religious history of the era by interpreting some of these data. In the process, however, the primary purpose of the historiography of local resistance is often overlooked, and historical interpretation easily becomes ‘overinterpretation’—that is, ‘fabricating false intensity’ and ‘seeing intensity everywhere’, as French historian Paul Veyne proposed to define the term. Focusing on a cluster of historical anecdotes collected in the standard histories of the four centuries under consideration, this study discusses the supposedly ‘religious’ nature of some of the data they contain

A Review of Equivalent Circuit Model Based Online State of Power Estimation for Lithium-Ion Batteries in Electric Vehicles

    No full text
With rapid transportation electrification worldwide, lithium-ion batteries have gained much attention for energy storage in electric vehicles (EVs). State of power (SOP) is one of the key states of lithium-ion batteries for EVs to optimise power flow, thereby requiring accurate online estimation. Equivalent circuit model (ECM)-based methods are considered as the mainstream technique for online SOP estimation. They primarily vary in their basic principle, technical contribution, and validation approach, which have not been systematically reviewed. This paper provides an overview of the improvements on ECM-based online SOP estimation methods in the past decade. Firstly, online SOP estimation methods are briefed, in terms of different operation modes, and their main pros and cons are also analysed accordingly. Secondly, technical contributions are reviewed from three aspects: battery modelling, online parameters identification, and SOP estimation. Thirdly, SOP testing methods are discussed, according to their accuracy and efficiency. Finally, the challenges and outlooks are presented to inspire researchers in this field for further developments in the future

Impact of electric vehicles and renewable energy systems on cost and emission of electricity

This paper investigates the influence of electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy sources (RESs) on the cost and emission of electricity. Based on the data collected from Melbourne in Australia, the power system with EVs and the power system with both EVs and RESs have been simulated to compare with conventional power systems in terms of the cost and emission of electricity. The simulation results show that the integration of both EVs and RESs into the power system can reduce the cost and emission of electricity by intelligently managing the timings of charging/discharging EV batteries from/to the grid

In this paper a methodology for optimum design of solar array and battery bank for a solar array-exclusive standalone photovoltaic system using energy balance concept is presented. Long-term data of solar radiation obtained from Malaysian Meteorological Services Department and typical load requirement of a residential house in Malaysia are used. The constraint of system cost function based on loss of power supply probability (LPSP) is implemented using Genetic Algorithms. For a given desired LPSP, the optimum arrangement of solar array and battery bank that gives the minimum system cost is then determined

Designing a robust battery pack for electric vehicles using a modified parameter diagram

    No full text
Battery packs are highly sensitive to operating environment and their interactions with other systems in electric vehicles (EVs). Control of the operating environment and understanding of the influences of these interactions on battery performances are required to maximise their energy capacity and cycle life in EVs. This paper presents a modified parameter diagram (P-diagram) which is a part of systematic effort to design a robust battery pack. In the modified P-diagram, the physical inputs that affect the performance of a battery pack are identified and categorised into noise factors and control factors, where the former limits the performance and the latter can be used to improve it. Different noise factors are conceptually analysed in conjunction with various control factors and graded according to their relative influence on the performance of a battery pack. The performance is measured in terms of ideal function output and potential error states. The error states are subsequently broken down into inherent losses and undesired response(s). With such systematic understanding, a robust battery back can be designed for EVs

This paper presents an improved battery pack equalizer (BPE) based on a DC/DC converter using fuzzy logic controller (FLC). This BPE can be designed without the necessity of a cell model in the pack. It is simple and robust. The simulation results have demonstrated that the BPE with the FLC has better performance than the BPE with the PI controller in terms of the balancing speed and efficiency
