AbstractLNG tanks are complex in design and building process and high in costs, so LNG tank technology is one of the most advanced ones in the field of energy, which has been monopolized by foreign companies for a long time. In order to work out LNG tank technology domestically, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC for short), the largest LNG importer in China, develops a LNG tank technology system “CGTank®” successfully in reference to the design and construction experience of domestic and foreign companies, after years of scientific research in tackling difficult problems. This system presents four traits as follows. First, a set of calculation software is developed independently by CNOOC, and the tanks in all operating conditions are calculated after 3D hologram and multi-point contact model of fluid-solid coupling effect is built up. Second, earthquake effect research and inner tank check research are improved innovatively by means of response spectrum analysis after European standards are introduced. Third, it is put forward for the first time that the stress strength discrimination standard is based on the principal stress which is obtained by means of the maximum shearing failure theory. And fourth, a large LNG full-capacity tank technology package with completely independent intellectual property right is established. The “CGTank®” system was first applied in the Tianjin LNG demonstration project, which has passed all indicator tests and is now in operation smoothly. The project is provided with the core tank design technology by CNOOC Gas and Power Group and with the EPC by CNOOC Engineering Co., Ltd. The independent LNG tank technology can be applied in a wide scope and it is favorable for impelling domestic production of LNG industry completely

A Model of Workflow Composition for Emergency Management

    Get PDF
AbstractThe common-used workflow technology is not flexible enough in dealing with concurrent emergency situations. The paper proposes a novel model for defining emergency plans, in which workflow segments appear as a constituent part. A formal abstraction, which contains four operations, is defined to compose workflow segments under constraint rule. The software system of the business process resources construction and composition is implemented and integrated into Emergency Plan Management Application System

Observation of Fermi-energy dependent unitary impurity resonances in a strong topological insulator Bi2Se3 with scanning tunneling spectroscopy

Scanning tunneling spectroscopic studies of Bi2Se3 epitaxial films on Si (111) substrates reveal highly localized unitary impurity resonances associated with non-magnetic quantum impurities. The strength of the resonances depends on the energy difference between the Fermi level ({E_F}) and the Dirac point ({E_D}) and diverges as {E_F} approaches {E_D}. The Dirac-cone surface state of the host recovers within ~ 2{\AA} spatial distance from impurities, suggesting robust topological protection of the surface state of topological insulators against high-density impurities that preserve time reversal symmetry.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figures. High mobility group box 1 promotes radioresistance in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cell lines by modulating autophagy

Resistance to radiotherapy results in relapse and treatment failure in locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). High mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) is reported to be associated with the radioresistance in bladder and breast cancer. However, the role of HMGB1 in the radiotherapy response in ESCC has not been fully elucidated. Here, we investigated the role of HMGB1 to radioresistance in ESCC clinical samples and cell lines. We found that HMGB1 expression was associated with tumor recurrence after postoperative radiotherapy in locally advanced ESCC patients. HMGB1 knockdown in ESCC cells resulted in increased radiosensitivity both in vitro and in vivo. Autophagy level was found depressed in HMGB1 inhibition cells and activation of autophagy brought back cell's radioresistance. Our results demonstrate that HMGB1 activate autophagy and consequently promote radioresistance. HMGB1 may be used as a predictor of poor response to radiotherapy in ESCC patients. Our finding also highlights the importance of the utility of HMGB1 in ESCC radiosensitization.Peer reviewe

Sulforaphane induces adipocyte browning and promotes glucose and lipid utilization

Scope: Obesity is closely related to the imbalance of white adipose tissue storing excess calories, and brown adipose tissue dissipating energy to produce heat in mammals. Recent studies revealed that acquisition of brown characteristics by white adipocytes, termed “browning,” may positively contribute to cellular bioenergetics and metabolism homeostasis. The goal was to investigate the putative effects of natural antioxidant sulforaphane (1-isothiocyanate-4-methyl-sulfonyl butane; SFN) on browning of white adipocytes. Methods and Results: 3T3-L1 mature white adipocytes were treated with SFN for 48 h, and then the mitochondrial content, function, and energy utilization were assessed. SFN was found to induce 3T3-L1 adipocytes browning based on the increased mitochondrial content and activity of respiratory chain enzymes, whereas the mechanism involved the upregulation of nuclear factor E2-related factor 2/ sirtuin1/ peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1 alpha signaling. SFN enhanced uncoupling protein 1 expression, a marker for brown adipocyte, leading to the decrease in cellular ATP. SFN also enhanced glucose uptake and oxidative utilization, lipolysis and fatty acid oxidation in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. Conclusion: SFN-induced browning of white adipocytes enhanced the utilization of cellular fuel, and the application of SFN is a promising strategy to combat obesity and obesity-related metabolic disorder
