    Effect of organizational culture on innovation in Finnish companies

    Abstract. Innovation is a phenomenon of major importance to companies. Entrepreneurial organizations recognise the necessity of innovation to survive in rapidly changing business environments. However, companies generally feel dissatisfied with their levels of innovation despite the vast resources spent on trying to generate higher levels of innovation. Researchers have been attempting to understand the processes of innovation within entrepreneurial organizations. Focus on the organizational level has observed how organizational structure and organizational learning capabilities affect the level of innovation in an organization. A corporate survey in 2018 indicated that a significant perceived obstacle to innovation is “cultural issues”. A significant strand of the literature has studied the effect of organizational culture on innovation. Organizational culture refers to the shared beliefs and attitudes within the organization. Most of the research has utilised the Competing Values Framework (CVF). The CVF identifies four main culture types: adhocracy, clan, market, hierarchy. These culture types are distinguished by their differences in structure and focus. The prior research mainly uses quantitative methods to observe correlations between each of the culture types and product innovation. The consensus of the prior research: adhocracy facilitates innovation and hierarchy hinders innovation. There have been mixed findings pertaining to clan culture and market culture with some studies also choosing to neglect observation of these two. This research builds on the previous literature by utilising the CVF and quantitative methods (hierarchical regression analysis) to observe the correlations for each of the four culture types and innovation in Finnish companies. The aim is to identify which culture type is optimal for product innovation. The context of Finland is distinct from previous studies which have primarily been conducted in large European economies such as Germany and Spain. This research solicits responses from executives and C-level employees in Finnish companies to two questionnaires: Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument and Innovation Metric Questionnaire. The responses from these questionnaires indicate predominant organizational culture types and level of innovation performance, respectively. The findings suggest that adhocracy culture is a positive influence on a firm’s innovation performance, consistent with previous research. However, the lack of significant correlations for the three other culture types suggests that the CVF model lacks explanatory power

The proposed system uses the Genetic algorithm to find the optimized ordering quantity at proper reorder point , by considering the power plant live data as a practical case study.     Event by Event Analysis of High Multiplicity Events Produced in 158 A GeV/c 208 Pb- 208 Pb Collisions

    An extensive analysis of individual high multiplicity events produced in 158 A GeV /c 208Pb- 208Pb collisions is carried by adopting different methods to examine the anomalous behavior of these rare events. A method of selecting the events with densely populated narrow regions or spikes out of a given sample of collision events is discussed.Employing this approach two events with large spikes in their eta- and phi- distributions are selected for further analysis. For the sake of comparison, another two events which do not exhibit such spikes are simultaneously analyzed. The findings suggest that the systematic studies of particle density fluctuations in one- and two-dimensional phase-spaces and comparison with those obtained from the studies of correlation free Monte Carlo events, would be useful for identifying the events with large dynamical fluctuations. Formation of clusters or jet like phenomena in multihadronic final states in individual events is also discussed and the experimental findings are compared with the independent particle emission hypothesis by carrying out Monte Carlo simulations

    The alwathba wetland reserve lake in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and its ostracod (seed shrimp) fauna

    Al Wathba Wetland Reserve (AWWR) lake, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is an artificially created water body in a natural wetland region that experienced seasonal flooding before the establishment of the lake. The lake is mostly fed by treated waste water, and became a protected wetland reserve after the Greater Flamingo started to successfully breed in the area in 1998. Detailed monitoring of several hydrochemical parameters and water depth at nine stations and two inlets of treated water in the lake was conducted over a period of seven years starting in January 2010. As a result, the seed-shrimps (Ostracoda: Podocopida) Heterocypris salina, previously reported from a late Miocene location in the UAE, and Cyprinotus cingalensis were recorded for the modern fauna of the UAE for the first time. The presence of the ostracods only at the station with the lowest salinity in the AWWR Lake shows that their distribution is predominantly controlled by the salinity of the water which covered an extremely large range of more than two orders of magnitude (1.45-457%) at the different sampling sites and inlets during the monitoring period. Thus, the lake represents an interesting and important ecological research laboratory under semi-natural conditions

    Simultaneous determination of 6-shogaol and 6-gingerol in various ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) extracts and commercial formulations using a green RP-HPTLC-densitometry method

Various analytical methodologies have been reported for the determination of 6-shogaol (6-SHO) and 6-gingerol (6-GIN) in ginger extracts and commercial formulations. However, green analytical methods for the determination of 6-SHO and 6-GIN, either alone or in combination, have not yet been reported in literature. Hence, the present study was aimed to develop a rapid, simple, and cheaper green reversed phase high-performance thin-layer chromatography (RP-HPTLC) densitometry method for the simultaneous determination of 6-SHO and 6-GIN in the traditional and ultrasonication-assisted extracts of ginger rhizome, commercial ginger powder, commercial capsules, and commercial ginger teas. The simultaneous analysis of 6-SHO and 6-GIN was carried out via RP-18 silica gel 60 F254S HPTLC plates. The mixture of green solvents, i.e., ethanol:water (6.5:3.5 v/v) was utilized as a mobile phase for the simultaneous analysis of 6-SHO and 6-GIN. The analysis of 6-SHO and 6-GIN was performed at λmax = 200 nm for 6-SHO and 6-GIN. The densitograms of 6-SHO and 6-GIN from traditional and ultrasonication-assisted extracts of ginger rhizome, commercial ginger powder, commercial capsules, and commercial ginger teas were verified by obtaining their single band at Rf = 0.36 ± 0.01 for 6-SHO and Rf = 0.53 ± 0.01 for 6-GIN, compared to standard 6-SHO and 6-GIN. The green RP-HPTLC method was found to be linear, in the range of 100–700 ng/band with R2 = 0.9988 for 6-SHO and 50–600 ng/band with R2 = 0.9995 for 6-GIN. In addition, the method was recorded as “accurate, precise, robust and sensitive” for the simultaneous quantification of 6-SHO and 6-GIN in traditional and ultrasonication-assisted extracts of ginger rhizome, commercial ginger powder, commercial capsules, and commercial ginger teas. The amount of 6-SHO in traditional extracts of ginger rhizome, commercial ginger powder, commercial capsules, and commercial ginger teas was obtained as 12.1, 17.9, 10.5, and 9.6 mg/g of extract, respectively. However, the amount of 6-SHO in ultrasonication-assisted extracts of ginger rhizome, commercial ginger powder, commercial capsules, and commercial ginger teas were obtained as 14.6, 19.7, 11.6, and 10.7 mg/g of extract, respectively. The amount of 6-GIN in traditional extracts of ginger rhizome, commercial ginger powder, commercial capsules, and commercial ginger teas were found as 10.2, 15.1, 7.3, and 6.9 mg/g of extract, respectively. However, the amount of 6-GIN in ultrasonication-assisted extracts of ginger rhizome, commercial ginger powder, commercial capsules, and commercial ginger teas were obtained as 12.7, 17.8, 8.8, and 7.9 mg/g of extract, respectively. Overall, the results of this study indicated that the proposed analytical technique could be effectively used for the simultaneous quantification of 6-SHO and 6-GIN in a wide range of plant extracts and commercial formulations

    In India there is a lack of doctorrsquos availability in rural areas compare to urban areas because of which the number of deaths is increasing in the rural areas. To solve this issue we are building an android application (Healtho) which will recommend the disease based on the symptoms given by the end user. Basically, a recommended system will be used by using Hadoop with mahout that is a Big Data concept. By using android as a platform we can provide higher availability of the system to the end user and provide some emergency services like location of nearby Hospitals and blood bank. The system also provides the medicine time (Meditime) in which the end user may come to know at what time the medicine is to be taken. This system could mostly be used by the people who live in rural area because there is lack of doctorrsquos availability and hospitals.nbs
