Qualitative Evaluation of Emotional Intelligence In-Service Program for Secondary School Teachers

This paper is an attempt to evaluate the Emotional Intelligence (EQ) In-Service Program on the basis of experiences of 20 secondary school teachers who attended the program in a private school in Turkey. A phenomenological approach, with a focus group method was used. The first objective of this study was to evaluate EQ program on the basis of teachers’ experiences. The second was to explore the teachers’ perceptions about the implications of EQ skills in classroom situations. The results were discussed in terms of the evaluation of the EQ program and its implications for learning and teaching activities in the classroom

Yarı Rijit Bağlı Betonarme Bacaların Serbest Titreşiminin Diferansiyel Transformasyon Metodu İle Analizi

Farklı zemin kayma modülleri için çökmeye ve dönmeye karşı elastik yaylar kullanılarak modellenen sabit enkesitli betonarme bacaların ilk üç modlarına ait doğal açısal frekansları, analitik metotla ve Diferansiyel Transformasyon Metodu (DTM) kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Tüm analizlerde analitik yöntem ve DTM’nin yanında SAP2000 programı da kullanılmıştır. Sistemlerde kullanılan çökme ve dönme yayı rijitlikleri ASCE 4-98 yönetmeliği kapsamında zemine ait kayma modülüne, poisson oranına ve baca temelinin yarıçapına bağlı olarak hesaplanmıştır. DTM’den elde edilen sonuçların analitik yöntemle elde edilen sonuçlara oldukça başarılı bir şekilde yakınsadığı görülmüştür. Yarı rijit bağlı sistem için elde edilen açısal frekans değerleri, ankastre mesnetli sistem ile kıyaslanmıştır. Analizler sonucu elde edilen açısal frekans değerleri tablo halinde verilmiştir. İlk üç moda ait mod şekilleri ve normalize edilmiş eğilme momenti diyagramları sunulmuştur.In this study, the free vibration analysis of semi-rigid connected reinforced concrete chimneys is investigated. The first three natural circular frequencies of the chimneys which have uniform cross sections along their heights and modeled by using different translational and rotational springs due to different soil conditions, are obtained using analytical solution and Differential Transform Method (DTM). SAP2000 is used in addition to analytical solutions and DTM solutions in numerical analysis. The stiffnesses of elastic springs that are used in numerical analysis are calculated by means of shear modulus of the soil, poisson ratio of the soil and radius of the foundation in accordance with ASCE 4-98. The results obtained from DTM are compared with the results of the analytical solution and very good proximity is observed. The natural frequencies of semi-rigid systems are compared with the natural frequencies of clamped foundation system. The natural frequencies are tabulated. Effect of Dietary Canola Oil Level on Fatty Acid Composition of Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss L.)

The effects of different levels of dietary canola oil on fatty acid composition of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were investigated. Five experimental diets with equal protein (47%) and lipid (17%) contents were formulated for rainbow trout with a mean weight of 119±0.17 g. Canola oil was used to replace 0, 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of the fish oil in the control diet. Fish were fed twice daily to satiation for 70 days. At the end of the study, fatty acid compositions in the trout body mirrored the fatty acid compositions of the experimental diets. The highest fatty acids were palmitic acid (C16:0), oleic acid (C18:1n-9), linoleic acid (C18:2n-6), and docosahexaenoic acids (C22:6n-3). The study showed that, under our test conditions, canola oil can replace 100% of fish oil with no negative effect on the chemical or fatty acid composition of rainbow trout

The Relation among retail price main of consumption center of fruit and vegetables and Region of Mediterranean (Turkey) : Test of Market Integration

Spatial price differentials for selected fresh fruits and vegetables, among six cities of Turkey, namely, Adana, Mersin, Antalya, important production centers, and İstanbul, Ankara and İzmir, main consumption centers, were investigated. The relations among retail prices of different cities were analyzed using Vector Auto Regression (VAR) models for each product. The existence or not, and the level of integration -in the affirmative case- among city markets regarding each product were tried to be analyzed using Ravallion’s dynamic analysis method of the market integration. Monthly data used are the retailer price series from 1994 to 2004, obtained from DIE for each of the cities. Retail prices of lemons, lettuce and tomatoes are considered as representative of fresh fruits and vegetables market. Results of the VAR model for lemons market revealed that Adana was the leader market, and that the prices of the other cities were dependent on those of the leader. The highlighted leader position of Adana in this market permitted the dynamic analysis method of market integration suggested by Ravallion to be applied in the lemons market. As the result, long-run market integration with Adana for three out of five local markets was detected. In the lettuce market, on the other hand, the VAR model suggested the retail prices in each city to behave fairly independently from each other. Regarding tomato prices, even though virtual influence of Antalya on other cities was identified examining the impulse response functions (IRF) and the variance decomposition obtained from the VAR model, Adana and Mersin were also observed to have their respective regions of impact. The level of leadership assigned to Antalya in tomatoes market was not highlighted enough for dynamic analysis of integration.Var model, Market Integration, Fruit and vegetables, Retail Price, Region of Mediterranean

Conceptual development of ethical climate and its impacts on individuals and organizations

Aksoy, Seval (Dogus Author)“Örgütsel Etik İklim (ÖEİ)” kavramı özellikle 2000’li yıllarda üzerinde fazlasıyla araştırma yapılmış olan bir örgütsel davranış çalışma konusudur. Yapılan bu çalışmada, ÖEİ’nin örgütsel özdeşleşme (ÖÖ), örgütsel bağlılık (ÖB) ve kişiörgüt uyumu (KÖU) kavramlarıyla olan ilişkileri, Kocaeli’nde faaliyet göstermekte olan imalat firmalarında yapılan bir uygulamalı çalışma ile test edilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre, ÖEİ ile ÖÖ ve ÖB arasında pozitif ilişkinin bulunduğu, ayrıca ÖEİ ile ÖB ve ÖÖ arasındaki ilişkide KÖU’nun kısmi ara değişken rolü oynadığı tespit edilmiştir.The concept of “Organizational Ethical Climate (OEC)” is a subject matter of organizational attitude research study on which many researchers have been conducted so far, especially after 2000’s. In this research, relationships among OEC and organizational identification (OI), commitment (OC) and personorganization fit (POF) are analyzed through an empirical research conducted in manufacturing firms located in Kocaeli. Results indicate that there are positive relationships between OEC and OI, as well as OEC and OC, also POF mediates the relationships between OEC and OI / OC
