Proposal for the development of an alternative system for wall lining interior partitions to improve existing housing performances, based on use of moulded panels of recycled pulp of cellulose

The present contribution deals with the development of a constructive system for wall lining of partition walls focused on the rehabilitation of existing dwellings that present deficits in terms of insulation and the layout of wired conduits. The objective of this development is to carry out these constructive tasks with the greatest speed, cleanliness and least inconvenience and environmental impact. Thus, it seeks to comply with the requirements of adequacy in buildings to intervene, save the inconveniences of current and past rehabilitation systems, and take a step towards the response to those needs that have arisen diachronically in the housing of installations in partition walls. In response to the above reasons, a composite sandwich construction configuration was designed between the existing support wall body and the back closure plate. The element that joins both parts of the sandwich presents an adequate relieve moulded with a pulp recycled cellulose material called Biprocel.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

Flat zones filtering, connected operators, and filters by reconstruction

This correspondence deals with the notion of connected operators. Starting from the definition for operator acting on sets, it is shown how to extend it to operators acting on function. Typically, a connected operator acting on a function is a transformation that enlarges the partition of the space created by the flat zones of the functions. It is shown that from any connected operator acting on sets, one can construct a connected operator for functions (however, it is not the unique way of generating connected operators for functions). Moreover, the concept of pyramid is introduced in a formal way. It is shown that, if a pyramid is based on connected operators, the flat zones of the functions increase with the level of the pyramid. In other words, the flat zones are nested. Filters by reconstruction are defined and their main properties are presented. Finally, some examples of application of connected operators and use of flat zones are described.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

    The Fano-Rashba effect

We analyze the linear conductance of a semiconductor quantum wire containing a region where a local Rashba spin-orbit interaction is present. We show that Fano lineshapes appear in the conductance due to the formation of quasi bound states which interfere with the direct transmission along the wire, a mechanism that we term the Fano-Rashba effect. We obtain the numerical solution of the full Schr\"odinger equation using the quantum-transmitting-boundary method. The theoretical analysis is performed using the coupled-channel model, finding an analytical solution by ansatz. The complete numerical solution of the coupled-channel equations is also discussed, showing the validity of the ansatz approach. The text explains the difficulties and internal exile suffered by Serra Ràfols after the defeat of the Republic, occupation by Francos supporters and the exile in Mexico of Pere Bosch Gimpera, father of Hispanic archaeology and his teacher. The paper explains the political complexity of establishing new scientific relations between Catalonia, Spain and other countries after 1939 and after the Second World War. Emphasis is placed on the creation of the Comisaría Provincial de Excavaciones de Barcelona (Commissioners Office for Excavations of Barcelona Province) in 1945, the nature of this office in Catalonia as a patriotic, pro-Catalan network of academics, and on the resumption of contacts with the Permanent Council of the International Congresses of Prehistoric and Protohistoric Sciences of Copenhagen in 1948
