The analysis of current state of zoobenthos at the Crimean shores of the Black Sea is fulfilled. The general features of taxonomical structure, regional peculiarities of bottom fauna development and species number distribution pattern with depth are considered. The results obtained testify the absence of species number reduction at the Crimean coastal zone of the Black Sea over the 2nd half of the XX century. Total number of the macrozoobenthos species registered in the Crimea water area exceeds 560. Filter-feeding mollusks (Chamelea gallina and Modiolula phaseolina first of all) became the most pronounced “evolutioning” species, determining the quantitative changes of the bottom fauna over the soft-bottoms of the southwestern Crimea during the period 1930-s – 1990-s. The shift to lesser depths: from the zone of the mussel silts (26-50 m) to the silty-sand (13-25 m) of the most productive benthal belt of the southwestern Crimea is marked. Meiobenthos (eumeiobenthos) of the Crimean shelf includes more than 522 species in total. Formation of specific meiofauna composition in areas of the methane gas seeping is marked. The presence of 38 species and 6 genera of Nematoda, which are registered only in the given conditions testify to this

Machine-tool industry retrospective analysis in member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States

The article examines the dynamics of machine tool production in the countries of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and post-Soviet states from the standpoint of statistical science. In the course of the work a data was obtained, the tabular and graphical presentation of which made it possible to identify certain periods of time in the machine tool industry of the USSR and the Commonwealth of Independent States (including the Baltic states), characterized by different dynamics and production structure in individual states. The initial stage of development fell on the territory of modern Russia, but during the years of the existence of the USSR, a number of machine-tool industries were opened in the Union Republics. This gave impetus to industrial development on the periphery of the Soviet state, and by the time the domestic machine tool industry flourished in the late 1970s, the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic accounted for less than half of the all-Union output. However, after 1978 there was a significant decline in the dynamics of production in the industry. And after the collapse of the country there is almost complete destruction of the machine-tool industry on the territory of the countries of the former USSR. The results obtained in the course of the study can be useful in scientific and practical activities in assessing the current situation, as well as prospects for the production and consumption of machine tools in the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, including Ukraine and the Baltic states

Regulation of Transfer of 137cs by Polymeric Sorbents for Grow Ecologically Sound Biomass

Soil contamination with radiocesium has a long-term radiological impact due to its long physical half-life (30.1 years for 137Cs and 2 years for 134Cs) and its high biological availability. 137Cs causes the largest concerns because of its deleterious effect on agriculture and stock farming, and, thus, human life for decades. One of the important aspects of the problem of contaminated soils remediation is understand of protective actions aimed at the reduction of biological migration of radionuclides in soil-plant system. The most effective way to bind radionuclides is the use of selective sorbents. The proposed research mainly aims to achieve control on transfer of 137Cs in a system growing media–plant due to counter ions variation in the polymeric sorbents. As the research object, Japanese basil-Perilla frutescens was chosen. Productivity of plants depending on the presence (control-without presence of polymer) and type of polymer material, as well as content of 137Cs in plant material has been determined. The character of different polymers influences on the 137Cs migration in growing media–plant system as well as accumulation in the plants has been cleared up

Ambulatory tuberculosis treatment in post-Semashko health care systems needs supportive financing mechanisms

    Get PDF
The tuberculosis (TB) control strategy in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan, is being changed to decentralised out-patient care for most TB patients by the Government of Uzbekistan, in collaboration with the international medical humanitarian organisation Médecins Sans Frontières. Ambulatory treatment of both drug-susceptible and drug-resistant TB from the first day of treatment has been recommended since 2011. Out-patient treatment of TB from the beginning of treatment was previously prohibited. However, the current Uzbek health financing system, which evolved from the Soviet Semashko model, offers incentives that work against the adoption of ambulatory TB treatment. Based on the 'Comprehensive TB Care for All' programme implemented in Karakalpakstan, we describe how existing policies for the allocation of health funds complicate the scale-up of ambulatory-based management of TB

Aromaticity in a Surface Deposited Cluster: Pd4_4 on TiO2_2 (110)

We report the presence of \sigma-aromaticity in a surface deposited cluster, Pd4_4 on TiO2_2 (110). In the gas phase, Pd4_4 adopts a tetrahedral structure. However, surface binding promotes a flat, \sigma-aromatic cluster. This is the first time aromaticity is found in surface deposited clusters. Systems of this type emerge as a promising class of catalyst, and so realization of aromaticity in them may help to rationalize their reactivity and catalytic properties, as a function of cluster size and composition.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure

Population-genetic structure of the residents of Central Russia

    Get PDF
In the territory of Central Russia, the presence of a certain, ordered system of grouping of elementary populations (raions) has been established, according to the data on the frequencies of surnames, using various methods of multivariate statistics (cluster analysis, multidimensional scaling, factor analysis). All the raions of the Belgorod oblast are combined into four clusters, corresponding to real geographical location of the populations: central cluster (12 raions), western (4 raions), south-eastern (3 raions), eastern (2 raions). Geographical distances between them play a significant role in the formation of genetic division between elementary population

THE THYMIDINE KINASE-1(TK-1) AS A POTENTIAL TUMOR MARKER: SERUM LEVELS IN SERUM OF PATIENTS WITH SOLID AND SYSTEM MALIGNANCE NEOPLASMS

The review summarizes the results of studies of levels and/or activity in the blood serum of a metabolic marker thymidine kinase-1 (TK-1) of proliferating cells in patients with lymphoproliferative diseases (LPD) and malignant neopasms (NM).Comparison of the data in the literature in some cases have been difficult due to the fundamentally different methods of detection the activity or concentration of TK-1, used by authors, even despite the presence of relatively high (but not absolute) correlation between these parameters (maximum 0.8).Many clinical and laboratory studies have shown levels of correlation and/or TK-1 activity with clinical stages and different types of LPD and solid MN and can serve as a prognostic factor for overall and recurrence-free survival of patients. When solid MN shown that the activity of TK-1 accurately reflects the proliferative status of tumor.A comparison of the dynamics of TC-1 in the process of chemotherapy and its clinical efficacy, different authors have received fundamentally different results: in some cases the marker reduction was associated with treatment efficacy, and in part of publications they show that the clinically relevant effects of the treatment observed increase in the marker after the first chemotherapy. The entire set of received data demonstrates the relevance of the further development of the algorithm use of TK-1 in oncology practice
