Modern features for capital portfolio monitoring

Purpose: Banking activity calls for new requirements, approaches, conditions, and mechanisms of the bank's liabilities management. Capital portfolio monitoring is an integral part of bank management. This study focuses on and proposes a quality criterion for the bank's capital portfolio, which has never been used by banking institutions so far. Design/Methodology/Approach: The proposed criterion represents a link between the banking sector and the common vector of Russia's current economic development and functioning. It takes into consideration the condition of macroeconomics, tendencies of the modern financial market and basic guidelines of the banking sector. Findings: Authors proved that the banking institution's capital portfolio analysis is impossible without monitoring activities. The process of permanent monitoring of the formation used, and the performance of banking capital need to be constantly improved, according to current trends in economic, social, political, and financial spheres. The study proposes new schemes, considering the current condition of the banking sector, macroeconomics and the regional social-economic environment. Practical Implications: The results may be implemented into activity of the Russian banking sector to improve the effectiveness of its business activity. Digital technologies in lending small and medium-size enterprises in Russia

Purpose: The article is devoted to the assessment of changes in the forms and methods of lending Russian Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). The purpose is to outline the role of digital technologies in the system of lending SMEs in Russia. Design/Methodology/Approach: To achieve this goal it is necessary: first, to outline the main changes in the banking industry considering digital technologies, second, to list the main banking products, how digital technologies influence the most (banks as ecosystems) and third, to describe how digital technologies are beneficial in lending SMEs. Findings: The authors defined the crucial role of digital technologies, underlined the leading role of the Russian financial sector in the world according to experts and offered the scheme of a digital banking product development. Also, the authors compared digital development in the EU and in Russia and made the conclusion towards some new opportunities to SMEs. Practical Implications: The research results may be implicated in a system of lending by means of digital products offered to SMEs and future key points of development in the digital sphere for the commercial banks, e-trade and fintech companies. Originality/Value: The main contribution of this article is in comparison between digital development in the EU and Russia, some leading role of the Russian banks in the world, description of a digital banking product development and considering the experience of the ecosystem of Sberbank for SMEs in Russia.peer-reviewe

The Period Changes of the Cepheid RT Aurigae

Observations of the light curve for the 3.7-day Cepheid RT Aur both before and since 1980 indicate that the variable is undergoing an overall period increase, amounting to +0.082 +-0.012 s/yr, rather than a period decrease, as implied by all observations prior to 1980. Superposed on the star's O-C variations is a sinusoidal trend that cannot be attributed to random fluctuations in pulsation period. Rather, it appears to arise from light travel time effects in a binary system. The derived orbital period for the system is P = 26,429 +-89 days (72.36 +-0.24 years). The inferred orbital parameters from the O-C residuals differ from those indicated by existing radial velocity data. The latter imply the most reasonable results, namely a1 sin i = 9.09 (+-1.81) x 10^8 km and a minimum secondary mass of M2 = 1.15 +-0.25 Msun. Continued monitoring of the brightness and radial velocity changes in the Cepheid are necessary to confirm the long-term trend and to provide data for a proper spectroscopic solution to the orbit.Comment: Accepted for publication in PASP (November 2007
