Background & Objective: It is necessary for a correct evaluation to use valid instruments prepared exactly according to the study population and special field. This study aimed to determine valid and reliable criteria for clinical evaluation of nursing teacher in Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Methods: In this exploratory-descriptive study, reviewing different sites and literature, primary clinical evaluation form with 60 items based on the Likert scale was designed. Face validity of the instrument was determined based on students', teachers', and nursing and educating professors' opinions and content validity was determined based on Waltz and Bausell index. Construct validity was determined by factor analysis. Also, reliability of instrument was determined by Cronbach's alpha coefficient, split-half coefficient and test-re-test. Results: Factor analysis to determine construct validity created two factors: educational behaviors factor with 21 phrases, factor coefficient of 0.633-0.788 and eigenvalues of 20.059; and supportive behaviors factor with 6 phrases, factor coefficient of 0.629-0.799 and eigenvalues of 1.915. Cronbach's alpha coefficient of clinical evaluation instrument was 0.95 totally, 0.96 for factor 1 and 0.85 for factor 2. Split-half coefficient was 0.81 and total Pearson correlation coefficient was 0.77 (P > 0.001). Pearson correlation coefficient of answers to final question "what do you evaluate your teacher finally?" was 0.81 for factor 1 (P > 0.001), and 0.72 for factor 2 (P > 0.001). Conclusion: Our instrument for clinical evaluation of nursing teachers (student form) was designed with two factors: educational behaviors factor with 21 phrases and suportive behaviors factor with 6 phrases and had a high degree of validity and reliability. We suggest this instrument can be used for clinical evaluation of nursing teachers in Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences. Introduction: One of the important indices of preparedness for accidents and disasters is evaluation of knowledge and performance of emergency medical services (EMS) staff regarding principles of triage. Therefore, the present study was done with the aim of determining the knowledge and performance of EMS staff regarding START pre-hospital triage in 2016. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out on EMS staff in north of Khuzestan province. Individuals who met the inclusion criteria were included via census sampling. Data were gathered via a questionnaire consisting of 5 demographic data questions, 15 triage knowledge questions and 19 triage performance questions. The data were then statistically analyzed. Results: 117 individuals with the mean age of 33.21 ±6.08 years and mean job experience of 7.35 ± 4.32 years participated all of whom were male. Mean knowledge of the studied population regarding triage was average (mean score: 9.44) and their performance score revealed that their performance was also average (mean score: 9.58). Conclusion: Based on the findings of the current study, knowledge and performance of EMS staff in north of Khuzestan province was average regarding pre-hospital triage.

Abstract Background Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Controversial views exist over the effects of metabolically unhealthy obesity phenotypes on CVDs. This study aimed to perform a meta-analysis to assess the association between metabolic syndrome and myocardial infarction (MI) among individuals with excess body weight (EBW). Methods We searched PubMed/Medline, Scopus, and Web of Science databases as of December 9, 2023. Cohort studies involving patients with overweight or obesity that reported the relevant effect measures for the association between metabolic syndrome and MI were included. We excluded studies with incomplete or unavailable original data, reanalysis of previously published data, and those that did not report the adjusted effect sizes. We used the Newcastle Ottawa Scale for quality assessment. Random-effect model meta-analysis was performed. Publication bias was assessed by Begg’s test. Results Overall, nine studies comprising a total of 61,104 participants were included. There was a significant positive association between metabolic syndrome and MI among those with obesity (hazard ratio (HR): 1.68; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.27, 2.22). Subgroup analysis showed higher HRs for obesity (1.72; 1.03, 2.88) than overweight (1.58; 1.-13-2.21). Meta-regression revealed no significant association between nationality and risk of MI (p = 0.75). All studies had high qualities. There was no significant publication bias (p = 0.42). Conclusions Metabolic syndrome increased the risk of MI in those with EBW. Further studies are recommended to investigate other risk factors of CVDs in EBW, in order to implement preventive programs to reduce the burden of CVD in obesity
