Predictive control for energy management in all/more electric vehicles with multiple energy storage units
The paper describes the application of Model Predictive Control (MPC) methodologies for application to electric and hybrid-electric vehicle drive-train formats incorporating multiple energy/power sources. Particular emphasis is given to the co-ordinated management of energy flow from the multiple sources to address issues of extended vehicle range and battery life-time for all-electric drive-trains, and emissions reduction and drive-train torsional oscillations, for hybrid-electric counterparts, whilst accommodating operational constraints and, ultimately, generic non-standard driving cycles

Phenomenological Transport Equation for the Cuprate Metals
We observe that the appearance of two transport relaxation times in the
various transport coefficients of cuprate metals may be understood in terms of
scattering processes that discriminate between currents that are even, or odd
under the charge conjugation operator. We develop a transport equation that
illustrates these ideas and discuss its experimental and theoretical
consequences.Comment: Replaced with journal ref. Latex+ p
Frontier exploration and the North Atlantic Igneous Province : new insights from a 2.6 km offshore volcanic sequence in the NE Faroe–Shetland Basin
Acknowledgements and Funding This work was funded by Chevron. The authors would like to acknowledge the Chevron West of Shetlands team along with the Joint Venture partners OMV, Faroe Petroleum and Indemitsu for access to data along with permission to publish this study. PGS is thanked for access to the Corona Ridge Regional Geostreamer (CRRG) data and permission to publish the seismic line. The paper was improved thanks to insightful reviews by S. M. Jones and A. Saunders, which substantially improved an earlier draft. J. Still and F. Thompson gave invaluable technical support at the University of Aberdeen, and K. A study of inner zone electron data and their comparison with trapped radiation models
A summary and intercomparison of recent inner radiation zone electron data are presented. The morphology of the inner radiation zone is described and the data compared with the current generation of inner zone trapped electron models. An analytic representation of the inner zone equatorial pitch angle distribution is presented. This model was based upon data from eight satellites and was used to reduce all data to the form of equatorial flux. Although no Starfish-free high energy electron measurements were available from the inner portion of the inner radiation zone, it was found that the AE-6 model provided a good description of the present solar maximum environment
