Vinylene-Linked Covalent Organic Frameworks by Base-Catalyzed Aldol Condensation

    Get PDF
Two 2D covalent organic frameworks (COFs) linked by vinylene (−CH=CH−) groups (V‐COF‐1 and V‐COF‐2) are synthesized by exploiting the electron deficient nature of the aromatic s‐triazine unit of C3‐symmetric 2,4,6‐trimethyl‐s‐triazine (TMT). The acidic terminal methyl hydrogens of TMT can easily be abstracted by a base, resulting in a stabilized carbanion, which further undergoes aldol condensation with multitopic aryl aldehydes to be reticulated into extended crystalline frameworks (V‐COFs). Both V‐COF‐1 (with terepthalaldehyde (TA)) and V‐COF‐2 (with 1,3,5‐tris(p‐formylphenyl)benzene (TFPB)) are polycrystalline and exhibit permanent porosity and BET surface areas of 1341 m2 g−1 and 627 m2 g−1, respectively. Owing to the close proximity (3.52 Å) of the pre‐organized vinylene linkages within adjacent 2D layers stacked in eclipsed fashion, [2+2] photo‐cycloadditon in V‐COF‐1 formed covalent crosslinks between the COF layers.TU Berlin, Open-Access-Mittel - 2019DFG, 390540038, EXC 2008: UniSysCa

The PSI np data and their effect on the charge Π−N−N\Pi-N-N coupling constant

    Get PDF
Differential cross sections of elastic neutron-proton scattering have been measured for the energy range from 200 MeV to 580 MeV. The angular interval for the detection of the recoiling proton ranges up to 48 degree in the laboratory system. This corresponds to an interval of the scattering angle from 80 degree to 180 degree in the centre-of-mass system. For absolute normalization the simultaneously measured np --> d Pi^o reaction was used above 280 MeV. The charged Pi-NN coupling constant has been determined to f^2_{Pi-n-p} = 0.076+-0.001

The Family-Environment Connection: Filling a Nationwide Program Gap

    Get PDF
Since its inception, Extension has focused on helping individuals, families, and communities change economic, environmental, and social conditions. Over the organization\u27s history, environmental condition change programming has been mostly the purview of natural resource educators and less often conducted by family and consumer science professionals. There is no evidence of a comprehensive approach to environmental education in Extension linked to family development. In addition, no evidence was found of any Extension educators conducting environmental education with the family unit as the audience. The Family-Environment Connection initiative created by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach aims to fill this gap

TDC Chip and Readout Driver Developments for COMPASS and LHC-Experiments

    Get PDF
A new TDC-chip is under development for the COMPASS experiment at CERN. The ASIC, which exploits the 0.6 micrometer CMOS sea-of-gate technology, will allow high resolution time measurements with digitization of 75 ps, and an unprecedented degree of flexibility accompanied by high rate capability and low power consumption. Preliminary specifications of this new TDC chip are presented. Furthermore a FPGA based readout-driver and buffer-module as an interface between the front-end of the COMPASS detector systems and an optical S-LINK is in development. The same module serves also as remote fan-out for the COMPASS trigger distribution and time synchronization system. This readout-driver monitors the trigger and data flow to and from front-ends. In addition, a specific data buffer structure and sophisticated data flow control is used to pursue local pre-event building. At start-up the module controls all necessary front-end initializations.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

    Analysing powers for the reaction n⃗p→ppπ−\vec{\rm n} {\rm p} \to {\rm p} {\rm p} \pi^{-} and for np elastic scattering from 270 to 570 MeV

The analysing power of the reaction np→ppπ−{\rm n}{\rm p} \to {\rm p}{\rm p} \pi^{-} for neutron energies between threshold and 570 MeV has been determined using a transversely polarised neutron beam at PSI. The reaction has been studied in a kinematically complete measurement using a time-of-flight spectrometer with large acceptance. Analysing powers have been determined as a function of the c.m. pion angle in different regions of the proton-proton invariant mass. They are compared to other data from the reactions np→ppπ−{\rm n}{\rm p} \to {\rm p}{\rm p} \pi^{-} and pp→ppπ0{{\rm p}{\rm p} \to {\rm p}{\rm p} \pi^{0}}. The np elastic scattering analysing power was determined as a by-product of the measurements.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures, subitted to EPJ-
