Despite the important influence borders have on the development of borderlands, regional geography does not have a theory on this influence. In this paper, the authors implement Fischer's theory on regional development in the framework of a study of four municipalities in the Franco-Italian Alps. The authors point out that the effect of the border depends on the capability of regional Systems to cross the border. This capability in itself depends on the characteristics of the border. Furthermore the authors point at the importance of the way local actors adapt to external stimuli. After a brief overview of the development of the French municipalities of Briançon and Modane and the Italian municipalities of Susa and Bardonècchia, the hypotheses are tested.Recognizing the necessity of more refined studies on the subject the authors conclude that Fischer's theory is a very valuable one in the study of borderlands

Spectator Interest in Attending Future Danish Men’s National Soccer Team Matches: A Study of Demand

Accepted for publication in https://fitpublishing.com/journals.Existing research on spectator demand tends to focus primarily on elite club sport. This paper aims to expand on the literature by applying regression models to a large and unique set of survey data collected from Danish men’s national soccer team matches held from 2013 to 2017. The output from our models suggests that the number of matches attended is positively related to future demand, as are the results of the matches. Our results have implications for managers of national sports federations because they provide information on how spectators’ interest in and intention to attend matches involving national teams are related. This can assist them in improving spectator demand in the future

Background: Infant mental health is crucial for healthy development. Children who have experienced adversities and are looked after in care need to be supported to form healthy attachment through a permanent placement as soon as possible. A major randomised control trial (RCT) called the Best Service Trial (BeST?) is currently investigating the most effective assessment framework for when children enter care. The assessments are facilitated by a social work service called Family Assessment and Contacts Service (FACS) and a team called the Glasgow Infant Mental Health Team (GIFT). Aim: The research aims to explore the perspective of those involved in the assessment of cases of child maltreatment and their experiences of the wider child welfare system. Methods: A case study approach was used to gain an in-depth insight. Thematic Analysis (TA) was used to analyse the transcripts from the key stakeholders surrounding four families, which were assessed by either GIFT or FACS. Results: Three key themes were identified across the dataset. The importance of the duration of the assessment process, the need for effective communication during this and that the legal structure has a significant influence on the overall experience and outcomes. Conclusions and implications: The study found that joint working was improved by open communication and that delays in outcomes are rooted in concerns around the child having to wait for a long-term home. It was highlighted that training for the Children’s Hearing System could improve the current structure

    Sproglæring uden for klasseværelset
