    Indigenous traditional practices for eco-friendly management of insect/pest in Maharashtra, India

    An ethnobotanical study on plants used for indigenous traditional management of insects pests by people in Maharashtra was conducted to document the information particularly associated with the use as insecticide and pesticide potential of plants. In this study, following areas from the Maharastra were worked out, Ratnagiri, Raigad and Sindhudurg of Konkan, Toranmal and Dhadgaon areas in Nandurbar district, some areas in Nasik and Ahemdnagar districts. People residing in the villages and nearby forests depends mostly on traditional management of household insects, pests through their own methods use different plants, plant parts, etc. The present paper deals with the plants used to control insects and pests by the people of Maharashtra. A total of 84 plants belonging to 40 families have been documented for their insecticidal/pesticidal potential. Of these, families with more number of species used as insecticide or pesticide are, Fabaceae with 10 species; Lamiaceae with 8 species; Euphorbiaceae with 6 and Asteraceae with 5 species

    SIMULTANEOUS ESTIMATION & VALIDATION OF PARACETAMOL, PHENYLEPHRINE HYDROCHLORIDE AND CHLORPHENIRAMINE MALEATE IN TABLETS BY SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHOD

    The present work describes two methods for simultaneous estimation of phenylephrine hydrochloride and chlorpheniramine maleate in pure and solid dosage forms. First method employs the application of simultaneous equation and second, is a multi-wavelength spectrophotometric analysis method. Both methods utilize 0.1N NaOH as solvent. Simultaneous equation develops using 256.8 nm, 236.8 nm and 222.4 nm as the max of paracetamol, phenylephrine hydrochloride and chlorpheniramine maleate respectively. Calibration curves were linear over the concentration ranges of 0-35 μg/mL for all drugs. The results demonstrated that the procedure is accurate, precise and reproducible (relative standard deviation < 1 %), while being simple, cheap and less time consuming, and hence can be suitably applied for simultaneous determination of three drugs in laboratory prepared mixtures and in commercial tablet preparation

To do electronic commerce there should be authentication of particular document. The working of internet is the documents are traveling in terms of bits from one destination to other destination, through various media like – Co-axial cable, fiber optic, satellite etc. While traveling this document there is probability of making changes in that document by any third party is high or some document may get changed due to noise/disturbance in communication media. This Act required to provide legal recognition carried out by means of electronic data interchange and other means of electronic communication

    Communicating risk of medication side-effects: role of communication format on risk perception

    Background: Medication side-effects often arouse fear in the minds of consumers and therefore need to be communicated in a manner such that the intended message is clearly understood, without causing undue fear. Objectives: Considering the message format and contextual factors that influence perceptions of risk, this study aimed at assessing the interaction effects of message format and contextual factors (rate of occurrence and severity) on risk perception of medication side-effects. Methods: Using Rhormann’s risk communication process model, a 2 (message format: words-only vs. words + numeric) X 2 (rate of occurrence: high vs low) X 2 (severity: mild vs severe) experimental factorial study was designed. Participants were presented with four of eight possible combinations of the three factors and were asked to indicate the risk perception with the associated side-effects. Repeated measures analysis was conducted while adjusting for control variables. Results: A total of 196 completed surveys were collected. Communication format did not have significant main effect on risk perception (P=0.4237) but demonstrated a significant interaction with rate of occurrence (P=0.0001). As compared to words-only format, least square means for words + numeric format were lower among low-rate side-effects but were higher among high-rate side-effects. Rate of occurrence (P<0.0001) and severity (P<0.0001) had significant main effects on risk perception as well as interaction effect with each other (P<0.0001). Conclusions: The results indicated that effect of communication format on risk perception of side-effect is dependent on the underlying rate of occurrence of side-effect. Healthcare providers should therefore carefully construct risk communication messages for effective communication with patients

    Role of the cluster structure of 7^7Li in the dynamics of fragment capture

    Exclusive measurements of prompt γ\gamma-rays from the heavy-residues with various light charged particles in the 7^7Li + 198^{198}Pt system, at an energy near the Coulomb barrier (E/VbV_b \sim 1.6) are reported. Recent dynamic classical trajectory calculations, constrained by the measured fusion, α\alpha and tt capture cross-sections have been used to explain the excitation energy dependence of the residue cross-sections. These calculations distinctly illustrate a two step process, breakup followed by fusion in case of the capture of tt and α\alpha clusters; whereas for 6^{6}He + pp and 5^{5}He + dd configurations, massive transfer is inferred to be the dominant mechanism. The present work clearly demonstrates the role played by the cluster structures of 7^7Li in understanding the reaction dynamics at energies around the Coulomb barrier.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, Accepted for publication in Phys.     EVOLUTION OF NANOTECH ASSISTED PCR DIAGNOSIS OF MYCOBACTERIUM TUBERCULOSIS AND ITS ASSESSMENT WITH CONVENTIONAL METHODS

    Objective: This study was focused on assessment and performance of conventional and nanotech assisted methods for detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Tuberculosis (TB) still leftovers one of the top ten causes of death worldwide, thus this study has undertaken the use of MNP for early detection of TB.Methods: A cross-sectional studies were conducted on clinical and radiological suspected TB patients in the department of microbiology at D. Y. Patil hospital Kolhapur. All samples received in the month of August 2016 to January 2017. Total One hundred twenty-sputum samples were processed for diagnosis of TB by ZN stain, culture on L. J. Medium and real-timePCR tests.Results: In our present study, 60.83% (73) patient male and 39.17 % (47) were female patient, showing a borderline male prevalence found in our study. Eighteen percent patients were found to be in the age group (21-30 y) are mostly affected for pulmonary tuberculosis. A significant difference was seen in the percentage of differentDNA extraction methods, the fig. being conventional chloroform-phenol 66.66%, the commercial kit 80%, magnetic bead 86.66% and MNPs method 99.66% found to be significant (P&lt;0.0001**).Conclusion: In the present study the MNP-DNA extraction techniques with NALC followed by IS6110 target amplification were found superior for diagnosis of TB. The MNP assisted extraction method showed better results in terms of quantification and sensitivity of TB PCR diagnosis, evolving nanotech assisted innovative method

    DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF UV SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHODS FOR ESTIMATION OF ATAZANAVIR SULPHATE IN BULK AND TABLET DOSAGE FORM

    Two simple, accurate, precise and cost effective UV-Spectrophotometric methods have been developed for estimation of Atazanavir sulphate (ATV), an anti-HIV drug, in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form. Method A is Absorbance maxima method, which is based on measurement of absorption at maximum wavelength, 247nm. Method B is Area under Curve (AUC), in wavelength range of 240-254nm. The linear responses were observed in the range of 5- 40 μg/ml for both the methods, with the regression coefficient of 0.9996 and 0.9997 respectively. The accuracy of the methods was assessed by recovery studies and was found to be 100.56% and 100.86% respectively. The developed methods were validated for different parameters like linearity, accuracy (recovery), precision and specificity, as per the ICH Q2 R1 (International Conference for Harmonization) guidelines and were found to be satisfactory. These methods can be used for the determination of Atazanavir sulphate in bulk and formulation without interference of the excipients

    DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF UV SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHOD FOR ESTIMATION OF DARUNAVIR ETHANOLATE IN BULK AND TABLET DOSAGE FORM

    Two simple, precise and economical UV methods have been developed for the estimation of Darunavir ethanolate (DRV) in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form. Method A is Absorbance maxima method, which is based on measurement of absorption at maximum wavelength, 266 nm. Method B is area under curve (AUC), in the wavelength range of 255-275 nm. Linearity for detector response was observed in the concentration range of 3-18 μg/ml for the both methods. The developed method was validated with respect to linearity, accuracy (recovery), precision and specificity. The accuracy of the methods was assessed by recovery studies and was found to be 100.07% and 99.58% for Method A and Method B respectively. The results were validated statistically as per ICH Q2 R1 guidelines and were found to be satisfactory. The proposed methods were successfully applied for the determination of DRV in tablet dosage form
