The role of human capital, leadership and organizational culture on organizational performance: examining the effects of learning organization in Malaysian logistics companies / Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarminah Samad and Prof. Dr. Zaini Abdullah
Internal and external forces have continually reshaping the world's business environment which ultimately influence organizational performance. Lu (2002) suggested that in today's competitive environment, companies and industries need to understand the key factors that influence their survival in business which ultimately help to contribute overall organizational performance. This implies that companies must be able to generate substantial profit by operating at the lowest possible cost. According to Lu (2002) a study conducted in logistics companies indicate that majority of the respondents agreed that logistics management strategy and approaches were among the key factors for companies' performance. These strategies highlight some important aspects that would induce organizational performance. Among the strategies as documented in literature that help in influencing organizational performance are like time based, asset productivity, technology based and relationship based strategies. Meanwhile Lu (2002)) emphasized quality as important factor for the success of companies regardless of sectors

The effect of the revision of intangible assets accounting standards on enterprise technology innovation
Against the institutional background of building an innovative
country, this article constructs the influence mechanism of the
accounting standards for intangible assets for enterprise technology innovation. We select panel data from the Shanghai Stock
Exchange and Shenzhen Stock Exchange from 2002 to 2015. We
focus on the two dimensions of innovation input and innovation
output and use Poisson regression, negative binomial regression,
zero expansion regression, and other methods to examine the
effects of the revision of the intangible assets accounting standards on enterprise technology innovation. Our research reveals
the following: (1) In general, the revision of the intangible assets
accounting standards can promote enterprises’ technological
innovation activities; (2) This effect is heterogeneous by ownership: before the revision of accounting standards for intangible
assets, state-owned enterprises had more innovation input than
non-state-owned enterprises, but the innovation output of nonstate-owned enterprises has become greater than that of stateowned enterprises even though the policy only significantly
improved the innovation output of the latter; and (3) The system
lacks a continuous effect. The revision of the intangible assets
accounting standards has only a one-year lag effect on the incentive effect of enterprise innovation input activities, mainly because
enterprise innovation input has only a one- to two-year lag effect
on output. The implementation of this system has not changed
the status quo that Chinese patent rights are based on applied
short-term technology research and development. Based on the
findings, this article proposes some pertinent policy suggestions
Influence of Organizational Capability on Competitive Advantage in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
Previous studies have revealed that various factors have been linked to competitive advantage. Competitive advantage is one of the important topic to be addressed as it able to create value of customers and increase organizational performance. This ability will help organization to sustain its product position in the market. Though some studies have related competitive advantage with organizational capability factor, less research has been carried on processed food Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia. The aim of this study was to examine the influence of organizational capability (quality relationship and financial capability) on competitive advantage of processed food SMEs in Malaysia. The study constructs a Structure Equation Model (SEM) to answer the hypotheses and objectives of the study. Data in the study was collected from a sample of 110 processed food SMEs industry in Malaysia. The obtained data were analyzed using SPSS and Amos Version 22. Descriptive and inferential statistics were employed to answer the objectives and hypotheses of the study. Through an empirical test of the processed food SMEs in Malaysia, this study draws the following conclusions or results:quality relationship has a positive influence on competitive advantage; financial capability has a positive influence on competitive advantage; organizational capability has a positive significant contribution on competitive advantage and quality relationship has more influence than financial capability on competitive advantage. Findings from this study serve as a guideline in business activities to strengthen the competitive advantage of SMEs industry.Findings, implications and recommendations for future research from this study are discussed
Environmentally Specific Servant Leadership and Employees' Energy-Specific Pro-Environmental Behavior: Evidence from Healthcare Sector of a Developing Economy
Environmental issues are significantly rising worldwide. Addressing the environmental issues and preserving the biosphere is a critical matter of concern in this era. The sheer amount of total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the world is related to the energy sector, especially electrical
energy. A bulk of electrical energy is consumed by individuals in buildings for cooling and heating
purposes. Prior researchers have emphasized employing clean and green energy sources to deal with environmental issues. The role of green energy from a decarbonization aspect is unchallengeable. However, a critical gap in most energy-related studies exists in the available literature. That is, most of the literature focuses on the supply side (the production) of energy, neglecting the critical issue lies with the demand side (consumption side). Energy data show that a sheer amount of electrical energy is wasted by individuals due to their inadequate energy consumption behavior. In this respect, a country’s healthcare system uses a significant amount of electrical energy. In particular, hospital staff uses a bulk of electricity during patient treatment, care, and other service delivery operations. The critical aim of this study is to improve the energy-specific pro-environmental behavior (EPEB) of hospital employees in an environmentally specific servant leadership (ESL) framework. Specifically, the study was conducted in Pakistan, which is a developing country. This study also tests the mediating effect of green self-efficacy (GSE) and green perceived organizational support (GPOS) in the above-proposed relationship. The data for the current work were collected from hospital employees by employing a survey strategy (n = 316) from a developing country. Structural equation modeling was considered to analyze the data, which confirmed that a servant leader with environmental preferences could significantly drive the EPEB of employees (β = 0.699), while GSE (β = 0.138) and GPOS (β = 0.102) mediated this relationship. The findings of this study can help the healthcare sector to improve its efforts toward de-carbonization by improving the energy consumption behavior of employees through ESL, GSE, and GPOS

The role of complementary and alternative medicines in general health and immunity
The immune system is a host protection system that includes numerous biological structures and processes in an organism which protects from diseases. It has been showed that there is significant relationship between immune system function and infectious diseases both in animal models and in humans. The aim of this research is to investigate whether Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAMs) can be useful in boosting immune system to prevent and/or treat the infectious diseases in the early stage of infection. Accordingly, the previous research on this issue is investigated and the results re provided. This study also performs an analysis on the consumers’ reviews on turmeric to find the effectiveness of turmeric intake in improving general health status of patient through WebMD data. The results of this study demonstrated that the majority of consumers are highly satisfied with the use of turmeric in improving their health conditions. It is also found that the majority of patients have used turmeric as the alternative therapies and got positive results in their treatments. In general, the results of this research provided several recommendations on the use of CAMs for infectious diseases and revealed that immune system may be boosted by CAMs and accordingly help in prevention and/or treatment of infectious diseases. However, further evaluations for the use of CAMs through consumers’ experience analysis are needed to come to robust conclusions regarding the benefits of CAM as an alternative medicine for infectious disease such as COVID-19
