Prospects of electric vehicles in the developing countries : a literature review

    Get PDF
Electric mobility offers a low cost of travel along with energy and harmful emissions savings. Nevertheless, a comprehensive literature review is missing for the prospects of electric vehicles in developing countries. Such an overview would be instrumental for policymakers to understand the barriers and opportunities related to different types of electric vehicles (EVs). Considering the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) guidelines, a systematic review was performed of the electronic databases Google Scholar and Web of Science for the years 2010–2020. The electric four-wheelers, hybrid electric vehicles and electric two-wheeler constituted the electric vehicles searched in the databases. Initially, 35 studies identified in the Web of Science that matched the criteria were studied. Later, 105 other relevant reports and articles related to barriers and opportunities were found by using Google Scholar and studied. Results reveal that electric four-wheelers are not a feasible option in developing countries due to their high purchase price. On the contrary, electric two-wheelers may be beneficial as they come with a lower purchase price

Information systems for interactive learning: Design perspective

    Get PDF
This paper aims to present and discuss educational issues and relevant research to universities and colleges in the Arabian Gulf Region. This include cultural, students’ learning preferences and the use of information and communication technology. It particularly focuses on interactive learning through the consideration of learning styles. It explores the sequential-global learning styles profile of undergraduate students as part of a continuous research in Information Systems design with a particular focus on the design of Interactive Learning Systems (ILSs). A study to examine the learning style profile of undergraduate students in a cohort of Management Information Systems at a UAE university has been conducted, and a discussion and recommendations on how these findings can be reflected on the design of ILSs are provided

The Functional Form of the Aggregate Import Demand Equation: Evidence from Developing Countries

    Get PDF
The specification of the appropriate functional form of the aggregate import demand equation is an important methodological problem, which affects the estimates of demand elasticities and the conclusions about the impact of policy changes. In the absence of any guidance from economic theory we determine the appropriate form empirically using a generalized functional form based on the Box-Cox method and find, that for a large number of developing countries the log-linear form is the prefer. red choice for the aggregate import demand equation

Robust data analysis for factorial experimental designs: Improved methods and software

    Get PDF
Factorial experimental designs are a large family of experimental designs. Robust statistics has been a subject of considerable research in recent decades. Therefore, robust analysis of factorial designs is applicable to many real problems. Seheult and Tukey (2001) suggested a method of robust analysis of variance for a full factorial design without replication. Their method is generalised for many other factorial designs without the restriction of one observation in each cell. Furthermore, a new algorithm to decompose data from a factorial design is introduced and programmed in the statistical computer package R. The whole procedure of robust data analysis is also programmed in R and it is intended to submit the library to the repository of R software, CRAN. In the procedure of robust data analysis, a cut-off value is needed to detect possible outliers. A set of optimum cut-off values for univariate data and some dimensions of two-way designs (complete and incomplete) has also been provided using an improved design of simulation study

Impact of Capital Structure on Stock Return in Oil & Gas Sector of Pakistan

    Get PDF
The given study investigates the influence of capital structure on the stock return in the context of oil and gas segment of Pakistan. For this purpose the analysis is conducted on 10 oil and gas companies operating in Pakistan on the basis of market capitalization over the period of 2005 to 2014. In order to inspect the impact of debt to equity and financial leverage on stock outcomes, the Correlation and regression models are used to test the results. This study has determined that the variation in capital structure does affect the stock return of oil and gas companies in Pakistan. Furthermore, Debt to equity ratio and financial leverage positively affect stock return. The Financial leverage and debt to equity positively affected the stock return and are showing significance with greater than 2 of “t” values and less than 0.05 of “p” values. Keywords: Capital Structure, Stock Return, Debt to Equity, Financial Leverage.[1] [1] Army Public College of Management Sciences affiliated with UET, Taxila, Pakistan
