Development of an efficient method for obtaining lactose and lactulose from whey

Taking into account a wide range of lactulose application in pharmaceutics, baby food production and other fields, along with the importance of technological solutions for its extraction from milk whey, the presented work was carried out to obtain lactulose in one cycle with simultaneous alkaline treatment and desalting of whey by the electromembrane method. Based on the data obtained, an effective method for obtaining a protein concentrate, lactose, and its isomer – lactulose from whey has been developed. The processes of pre-treatment and desalting of milk whey by the electromembrane method were studied and the optimal parameters for the processes implementation were determined. The curves of changes in the concentration of inorganic ions in whey in the desalination process, depending on the degree of demineralization, were plotted

ADVANCING POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC INTERESTS THROUGH DATA LOCALIZATION IN THE NAME OF PRIVACY AND SECURITY

Revelations about the US National Security Agency’s mass surveillance programs presented an opportunity for foreign governments to push forward their Internet governance agenda. Many nation states proposed infrastructure-based initiatives to localize data within their jurisdiction citing concerns over privacy and security of their citizens. Relying on a conceptual framework that connects Internet infrastructure to power and social control this paper examines data localization proposals by a number of governments arguing that their purpose is to pursue alternative political and economic objectives in the name of privacy and security

59 s. :obr.
Tvoří z historie a přítomnosti neobyčejnou budoucnost v odívání.
Dámská oděvní kolekce byla inspirována arménskými kroji a koberci. Používá jejich vzory, aniž by je deformovala, či měnila. Vzory jsou aplikované přenosovým tiskem na moderní a elegantní střih

The privacy role of information intermediaries through self-regulation

    No full text
Through qualitative analysis of the policies of two major global information intermediaries — Google and Microsoft — and related case studies, this paper demonstrates a) that intermediaries’ participation in self-regulatory programmes and implementation of privacy principles does not necessarily translate into meaningful privacy safeguards for users in the face of growing private surveillance capacity; and b) that within the EU and US self-regulatory frameworks, information intermediaries have discretionary power to set their policies and practices prioritising strategic interests over privacy commitments. Discussions in this paper complement existing studies on the implementation of privacy principles stipulated in Fair Information Practices (FIPs) by enhancing understanding about the role of information intermediaries in defining privacy conditions of users within self-regulation

Minas Bzhyshkyan and His Report on Armenians in Lwów

Minas Bzhyshkyan, an armenologist, philologist, pedagogue, historian, ethnographer, and musicologist was a member of the Armenian Catholic Mechitarists order. He travelled widely and took scrupulous notes of his journeys, which aided writing his monograph A Journey to Poland and other countries where exiles from Ani live. His work, crucial for research on Armenians in old Poland, was originally published in 1830 in Venice. It was written in classical Armenian, an ancient language of a highly ornate quality. The book is a valuable source of information on geography, architecture, and epigraphy of peoples living on territories travelled by Bzhyshkyan, as well as on the past and present of the Armenian diasporas in the Central Europe and the Black Sea Basin countries. The author presents data on the Armenian community of Lwów and evaluates it against information from other sources

Electrosynthesis of gold nanocomposites based on a copolymer of 1-vinyl-1,2,4-triazol with crotonic acid

In this work, we have synthesized and discussed the results of electrosynthesis of metal-polymer nanocomposites of gold. Nanocoatings were made on pure iron and steel electrodes by combining the process of electropolymerization of 1-vinyl-1.2.4-triazole with crotonic acid and cathodic deposition of gold. Using UV, IR and atomic absorption spectroscopies, X-ray phase analysis, as well as thermogravimetric and elemental analyses, the structure and composition of the synthesized nanocomposites and nanocomposite coatings were studied

Quantitative analysis of biologically active substances and the investigation of antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of some extracts of Osage orange fruits

    No full text
Biologically active substances, the antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of aqueous, 70% ethylate and ethyl acetate extracts of fruits of maclura orange (Osage Orange), a representative of the Moraceae genus growing in the Ararat region of Armenia have been studied. It is found that plant extracts are rich in a wide range of pharmacologically active substances, in particular, tannins, flavonoids, organic acids, vitamins, anthocyanins, micro- and microelements, etc. Based on the investigations performed, extracts of maclura orange can be recommended as a source of biologically active substances (BAS), as well as a preventive and corrective agent in deficiency or imbalance of macro- and microelements in tissue and cellular structures in various pathological processes in the body. An ethanol extract of maclura fruits exhibits the antimicrobial activity against Bacillus subtilis 1820, E. Coli 5002, Serratia marcescens 5251 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC-6538 strains. Maclura extracts can be used as an environmentally friendly source of antioxidants against early aging

Digital Rendezvous: Experiences of Students, Staff, and Alumni on a Campus Memory Map

    No full text
This project aims to develop interactive maps, where students, stuff, and alumni can share their memories about a physical space: a university campus. We propose creating several digital maps of the LSE for past decades, where individuals associated with the university can map their memories with current or past physical spaces around the campus. The visualization of historical and current transformation of this physical landscape will potentially promote ties in this community of association and contribute to the growing body of work on collaborative memory and geo-socially located imaginaries
