Dispersion relation for electron waves propagating in an isotropic plasma containing Maxwellian and suprathermal electrons
The paper discusses the dispersion relation for longitudinal electron waves propagating in a collisionless, homogeneous isotropic plasma, which contains both Maxwellian and suprathermal electrons. I t is found that the dispersion curve, known to have two separate branches for zero suprathermal energy spread, depends sensitively on this quantity. As the energy half-width of the suprathermal
population increases, the branches approach each other until they touch at a connexion point, for a small critical value of that half-width. The topology of the dispersion curves is different for half-widths above and below critical; and this can affect the use of wave-propagation measurements as a diagnostic technique for the determination of the electron distribution function. Both the distance between the branches and spatial damping near the connexion frequency depend on the half-width, if below critical, and can be used to determine it. The theory is applied to experimental data

Asymptotic Solution for the Current Profile of Passive Bare Electrodynamic Tethers
A relatively high-accuracy analytical solution for the current and potential profile along a passive bare electrodynamic tether is provided using perturbation theory. An ad hoc nondimensional formulation of the governing local bias and orbital motion limited current collection equations allows one to approach the problem with a perturbation technique in which a parameter, epsilon, quantifies the influence of ohmic effects on the final solution. For the case of small ohmic effects an approximate solution is obtained with a third-order expansion. Conversely, the case of dominant ohmic effects is treated based on an extension of the exact analytical solution available for the particular case of zero load and negligible potential drop at the cathodic end of the tether. After computing the analytical current and potential profile the maximum and average current, the Lorentz force and torque, as well as the optimum load impedance for maximum power generation are obtained. When compared with the exact, numerically-computed solution an accuracy of better than5%is achieved for the computation of the average current across the full parameter space. The error with respect to the generated power becomes negligible when the load impedance is set to the optimum value, while it can grow to a maximum of about 30% for the less relevant case in which the load impedance of the power generation system is badly mismatched. The results, which are valid for a general rectilinear passive electrodynamic tether with constant cross section satisfying orbital motion limited theory and irrespective of the particular orbit configuration, will be of aid in the design and analysis of space missions involving bare electrodynamic tethers
Efficient and Accurate hybrid GO-Spectral Algorithm to Design Conformal Serrated-Edge Reflectors Operating as Collimators in Millimeter Wave Compact Ranges
This paper presents a hybrid analysis algorithm, which is used at Radiation Group (UPM) to carry out the design of a conformal serrated-edge reflector for the mm-Wave compact range UPM facility. Main features of this algorithm involve its capability of handling conformal serrated rim parabolic reflectors, accuracy and computational efficiency
Antenna Measurement System at 300 GHz for the Terasense Project
The aim of this paper is to introduce the design techniques used to develop the antenna measurement system for the Terasense Project. This project, funded by the Spanish Government, involves millimetre-wave systems design. One of these systems is an antenna measurement facility. The antenna measurement system operates in a banded range of frequency. The lower frequencies deal between 75–110 GHz (WR10 operation range) and the upper frequencies are set between 220–325 GHz (WR03). Among the different possible configurations, the reflector-based compact range is chosen. The quiet zone is generated by a serrated-edge reflector, fed by a low gain horn. In this paper we will focus on the reflector design. A serrations study is carried out and quiet zone acquisition results are obtained
Asociacionismo migrante latinoamericano y codesarrollo.
The ferroelectric Mott-Hubbard phase of organic (TMTTF)2X conductors
We present experimental evidences for a ferro-electric transition in the
family of quasi one- dimensional conductors (TMTTF)2X. We interpret this new
transition in the frame of the combined Mott-Hubbard state taking into account
the double action of the spontaneous charge disproportionation on the TMTTF
