MACD - Analysis of weaknesses of the most powerful technical analysis tool

    Get PDF
Due to the huge popularization of the stock trading amongst youth, in the recent years more and more of trading and brokerage houses are trying to find a one ‘easy to understand’ tool for the novice traders.  Moving average convergence divergence seems to be the main pick and unfortunately inexperienced traders are relying on this one tool for analysis and trading of various securities.   In this paper, I will investigate the validity of MACD as the ‘magic wand’ when solely used in investment trading decision making.  The main limitation of this study is that it could be used more widely across industries and various sizes of companies, funds, and other trading instruments

Lingvistička obilježja i aspekti blogova u kontekstu Netspeaka

Within the context of Netspeak, and English as a global language, weblogs (blogs) are defined as frequently modified web pages in which dated entries are listed in reverse chronological sequence, are becoming an increasingly popular form of communication on the World Wide Web. The present paper introduces blogs as an asynchronous type of online communication that share features with asynchronous discussion forums. The paper presents the origin of blogs, the blogosphere – who blogs and about what - and most importantly, why people blog. The scope of blogs is argued to have expanded dramatically over the past decade, making blogging more of a multifaceted tool than a specific type of Internet platform. The paper outlines the basic linguistic features of blogs and gives an overview of basic blog types and their corresponding linguistic properties and aspects. The paper serves the purposes of characterizing the properties of the emergent blog genre, situating it with respect to the broader genre ecology of the Internet. The idea is to provide an empirical snapshot of the weblog in its present stage, as a historical record for purposes of comparison with future stages of evolution, and to contribute to a theoretical understanding of how technological changes trigger the formation of new genres, which in turn may affect the genre ecology of a larger domain such as the Internet.U kontekstu Netspeaka i engleskoga kao globalnog jezika, blogovi, koji se definiraju kao često modificirane internetske stranice na kojima se unešeni podaci navode obrnutim kronološkim redoslijedom, postaju sve popularnijim oblikom komunikacije na Internetu.

The present paper surveys the development and the current position of community interpreting (CI) in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), by providing an insight into the emergence of this “out of necessity” concept. The paper is a reflection of the origins and major features of the profession, from the perspective of active participants in this process. Since the research in this field practically does not exist in BiH, the paper attempts to highlight the fundamentals of the profession, fields of practice, professional organizations and training opportunities. The paper portrays the historical backgroundof CI in the context of BiH, trying to capture the interpreting activities and the accompanying practicalities both in the conflict (1992-1995) and post-conflict periods. CI in BiH is mainly performed my semi- and non-professionals, due to the fact that education and training institutions for community interpreters are traditionally non-existent in this country. The paper brings a historicalparadigm into the emergence of the interpreting profession and its inherently embedded international character in BiH. The study of CI may not have such a long tradition as other disciplines, but has immensely gained in popularity in recent decades, particularly in the context of ever-growing interestby scholars. The paper follows these recent global trends aiming at contributing to a more comprehensive research in the field in the context of BiH, highlighting the importance of CI in the evolving society challenged by the newly-emerging social phenomena

The historical context of globalization as an organized process, which influenced the majority of national economies linked via international institutional mediators, led to the so called regional economic integration phenomenon. It is interpreted as the efforts of underdeveloped and developing countries to speed up their economic growth and more significantly impact the entire macroeconomic stability by means of some form of regional integration. Nowadays, regional economic integration is one of the pillars for proper functioning of modern economic relations. Experience of developed countries serves as an example to point out that integration processes inevitably contribute to more favorable environment for developing business sector in the countries striving for integration. In the context of global integrations, more frequent forms of regional changes and the establishment of trade blocks come as the consequence as well as the overall need for obtaining trade balance among national economies. Within this context, the European Union is seen as one of the most important regional integration and an imperative in economic, political and cultural segment, as it is the territory with significant economic growth and the region with high living standards

In recent years, there has been a dramatic decrease in the sale of new automobiles on the market of the Republic of Croatia. When considering certain periods, the sale reached its peak in 2008, with 88,265 vehicles sold. In 2013, the sale was reduced by 68.5%, and 27,802 vehicles were sold. 2014 and 2015 saw a slight recovery with 35,715 vehicles sold. This increase was related to the fact that the state, through certain ministries, bought new automobiles and thus made 20% of the above-mentioned number. Devastation in the market of new automobiles was accompanied by an increase in the sale of used vehicles, both in the country (which was caused by the fact that vehicle lease agreements of the State Administration expired, replaced by the above-mentioned share in the sales of new vehicles) and from abroad. This caused an increase in the average vehicle age in the Republic of Croatia. Consequently, the secondary market for automotive parts has been experiencing organic growth at high rates, thus determining obvious propulsiveness. The five largest companies in the secondary market for automotive parts in the Republic of Croatia generate annual revenue of HRK 1,253,655,892 (EUR 166423) through wholesale and retail. As the result of these sales methods, we have a very diverse client base in all the major companies on the market with the fundamental problem of credit risk, mainly due to the fact that the highest percentage of revenue is generated through operations with automobile repair workshops, whose balance sheet indicators are extremely poor. In such circumstances, it is essential to use a more serious approach to the problem of determining clients’ creditworthiness, as the basis for better liquidity. This paper presents a model for the assessment of clients’ creditworthiness, as a possible solution to the problem of illiquidity in the Croatian secondary market for automotive parts. The model provides for the establishment of the client base, with a combination of elements of qualitative analysis and financial and quantitative analysis to assess credit risk, as well as continuous monitoring of the base. By applying this model, the credit risk of every client, as the fundamental cause of illiquidity in this sector, would be noticed on time and measures for its reduction would be taken

In the stock trading community, a recent growth in number of traders, especially young ones, is quite visible and more and more investors are trying to find one turnkey tool that can work for rookie traders as well as seasoned professionals.  The purpose of this research is to analyze one of the proclaimed magic tools of trading called Relative Strength Index (RSI).  Researchers plan to examine and analyze a standalone usage of RSI as a sole determinant of investment decisions.  RSI indicator is one of the five most popular technical indicators and it is very often used in assessment of stock direction but unfortunately some inexperienced investors are relying too much on this one tool and use it for analysis and trading of various securities.   Secondary data will be used to analyze the signal strength and profit relation using regression and paired sample t-test.  The outcome of the study portrays that RSI indicator is highly unreliable due to a very weak coefficient of determination; hence the tool should be used only when coupled with other technical analysis indicators.  The main limitation of this study is in its breadth so in the future it could be used more widely across industries and various types of companies

Purpose. The paper aims to point out the role of scientific research platforms as the main drivers of the integration of the concept of media and information literacy into public policies, that is, in the long term, into formal education. Approach/methodology/design. In order to successfully analyse the obstacles to establishing a clear correlation between the lack of systematic and long-term engagement of scientific research bases and the integration of media and information literacy into public policies, this paper has explored, analysed and conceptualized the approach and results of the Institute for Social Science Research, Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Sarajevo in research, development, advocacy and integration of media and information literacy into the education system in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a case study. Results. The research has attempted to illustrate how scientific research platforms can be used to influence (and create an optimal model for public intervention) public policies, rather than just serve as platforms for academic advancement and as project implementation tools. Social value. The scientific research platform on media and information literacy at the University of Sarajevo can be understood as an applied practice in an open scientific environment, and developed on the principles of the common good
