An economic analysis of the production of hydrogen from wind-generated electricity for use in transport applications

    Get PDF
Wind-generated electricity is often considered a particularly promising option for producing hydrogen from renewable energy sources. However, the economic performances of such systems generally remain unclear because of unspecified or favorable assumptions and operating conditions. The aim of this paper is to clarify these conditions by examining how the hydrogen produced is used. The analysis that has been conducted in the framework of the HyFrance 3 project concerns hydrogen for transport applications. Different technical systems are considered such as motorway hydrogen filling stations, Hythane®-fueled buses or second-generation biofuels production, which present contrasted hydrogen use characteristics. This analysis reveals considerable variations in hydrogen production costs depending on the demand profiles concerned, with the most favorable configurations being those in which storage systems are kept to a minimum.wind power ; hydrogen production

Synthesis, metal complexation and biological evaluation of a novel semi-rigid bifunctional chelating agent for 99mTc labelling

A novel bifunctional chelating agent bearing an aromatic ring has been synthesised and characterised. This ligand formed well-defined oxorhenium complexes. The analogous 99mTcO-complex was obtained in an excellent yield with high radiochemical purity (>95%). The biodistribution of the 99mTo-complex after intravenous injection studied in normal rats showed that the activity was excreted mainly via renal-urinary pathway indicating its use for labelling peptides with 99mTc

A flexible investment: the Australian vet sector’s framework for applying new technologies in learning

    Get PDF
In 1999, the Australian VET sector developed a five-year strategic plan, Flexible Learning for the Information Economy: A Framework for National Collaboration in Vocational Education and Training 2000-2004. Known commonly as the Collaborative Framework, the plan is a fluid platform upon which the Australian VET sector can strategically plan for the use and expansion of learning technologies in training and industry. This paper will explore the Collaborative Framework not only as an integrated policy response to the emergence of new learning technologies, but also as a model of collaboration between governments and a bold experiment in cultural change within the VET sector

El cartel político soviético, una especificidad

The author of the article, (extracted from his doctorate thesis in History), suggests to us an original approach of the Soviet propaganda poster. They are characteristic products of Russian culture, rooted in icons and popular pictorial traditions such as the Lubok. The art of the poster is also part of a specific artistic training, a branch of the National Fine Arts and Architecture Academy. A lot of them are really works of art, but they mainly serve to the diffusion of ideology. And their originality is precisely located in what the author calls consubstantiality, using a religious word to define this immutable mixture of art and ideology which characterizes the Soviet poster. This would explain their current attraction, the passion of collectors and the continuous attention of the Russian state upon them. The posters analyzed, (a collection of more than 3500 pieces), mainly belong to three centers situated in Moscow: the Museum of the Russian Armed Forces, the Lenin National Library and the Center of National Russian Archives of Literature and Art (RGALI).El autor del artículo, (extracto de su tesis de doctorado de Historia), propone un acercamiento específico al afiche de propaganda soviética.

On the Significance of Religion in Violence Against Women and Girls

In this ground-breaking volume, the authors explore two sides of religion: the ways in which it contributes to violence against women and girls (VAWG) and the ways it counters it. Recognising the very real impact of religion on the lives of women and girls, it prioritises experiences and learnings from empirical research and of practitioners, and their activities at grassroots-level, to better understand the nature and root causes of VAWG. Drawing on research done in Christian and Muslim communities in various fragile settings with high religiosity, this book avoids simplistically assigning blame to any one religion, instead engaging with the commonalities of how religion and religious actors influence norms and behaviours that impact VAWG. If the sustainable development goal of ending all forms of VAWG is to be achieved, how should actors in the international development sector engage with religion and religious actors? This book unpacks the nature of religion and religious actors in relation to VAWG, with the aim of giving greater clarity on how to (and how not to) engage with this crucial issue. Combining cutting-edge research with case studies and pragmatic recommendations for academics, policymakers and practitioners, this concise and easily accessible volume helps instigate discussion and engagement with the incredibly important relationships between religion and VAWG

Une analyse économique de la production d'hydrogène à partir d'électricité éolienne pour des usages transport

    Get PDF

The Evolution of a Refereed Journal: The International Journal of Nursing Student Scholarship

The majority of students, both undergraduate and graduate, at post-secondary institutions find themselves having to write academic papers. They often ask what happens to the paper? Who reads it except for the marker, usually a faculty member? We hear that the paper gets filed in the “round bin”, never to be read again. Sometimes the faculty member might suggest publication, but students are often unsure of how or where to begin the publishing process, and perhaps do feel comfortable asking for advice from faculty members or fellow students. Several academic faculty members addressed these concerns by developing a journal designed to support students to move their course papers from ‘a who reads it approach to publishing’. The authors describe the evolution of The International Journal of Nursing Student Scholarship
