    INHIBITION OF CALCIUM OXALATE CRYSTALLIZATION BY AN EXTRACT OF OCIMUM BASILICUM SEEDS: AN IN-VITRO STUDY

    Objective: Ocimum basilicum (OB) has been used to treat diverse illnesses which include urinary stone disorder for a reason that historical time in India. We investigated OB seeds for antiurolithic activity. Methods: Calcium oxalate crystallization becomes triggered by the addition of 0.01 M sodium oxalate answers in normal human urine and nucleation was done. Results: OB seeds were discovered to be robust and promising antiurolithiatic agents which are in accordance with its use in traditional medication. Conclusion: An extract of the traditional herb OB has super inhibitory activity on crystalluria and therefore might be useful in dissolving urinary stone; however, in addition, a study in animal fashions of urolithiasis is needed to assess its capability antiurolithiatic interest

    Exploring The Contribution of Innate Immune Cells to Breast Cancer Immunotherapy

    Breast cancer is the leading type of cancer in women. About 10-15% of breast cancers are triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), a subtype with the worst prognosis. Due to the lack of estrogen, progesterone and HER2 receptor expression, chemotherapies have been the standard of care for decades. Immunotherapy has emerged as promising for TNBC treatment. In 2020, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted approval to pembrolizumab in combination with chemotherapy for patients with advanced triple-negative breast cancer. However, only a subgroup of advanced TNBC patients live longer whose tumors have a PD-L1 Combined Positive Score of at least 10 (CPS>=10). There is still an unmet medical need to provide alternative treatment for the rest of patients. Interestingly, a few of patients at UCSD Moores Cancer Center were found to have had excellent responses to pembrolizumab despite low CPS scores (termed Elite Responders). The hypothesis of this project is that there may be an alternative immune response mechanism and/or crosstalk happening between the innate and adaptive immune systems, especially in Natural Killer Cells and Macrophages, that contributed to this unexpected excellent response. Our procedure used ACDBio RNAscope Multiplex Fluorescence v2 method to spatially analyze innate immune cells (Natural Killer cells and macrophages) and adaptive immune cells (T-cells) in the Tumor Micro Environment. Our data demonstrated increased tumor infiltration of innate immune cells (macrophage and Natural Killer cells) in the Elite Responders. This conclusion indicated the joint effort of two immune systems (innate and adaptive) which eventually led to increased survival

    This research study aims to focus towards the application or evaluation of Web 2.0 tools in State University Libraries of India. The present study deals with the extent usage of Web 2.0 in State University Libraries of India.This research used content analysis based on quantitative and qualitative data which is collected by website observation and questionnaire method. Out of 348 Indian State University Libraries 69% of libraries are having official website and 31% of libraries are lacking any dedicated library webpage. It is found that 9.77% of the Indian State University Libraries were using Web 2.0 technologies to provide services to their users. It is found that the highest Web 2.0 application index is in state of Kerala. OPAC 2.0, Mashups, RSS, Social Bookmarking & Tagging, Social Networking Services, Vodcast and Blog are the most widely applied technology and YouTube, Google Docs, Instant Messaging, Wikis are the least used technology amongst respondent libraries

    ACUTE TOXICITY EVALUATION OF PROTODIOSCIN RICH EXTRACT OF TRIGONELLA FOENUM-GRAECUM L IN RATS

    ABSTRACTObjectives: The objective of this study was to investigate the acute toxicity of standardized protodioscin rich extract (PRE) of Trigonella foenumgraecumL (26.63% w/w; PRE).Methods: To evaluate the toxicity of PRE, the acute toxicity of the extract on adult rats were investigated. A fixed large dose of 2 g/kg body weight ofPRE was administrated by a single oral gavage, and 1 g/kg body weight of PRE was administered by intravenous according to the Organisation forEconomic Co-operation and Development guidelines.Results: In 2 weeks, PRE showed no obvious acute toxicity. There were no deaths in either group and no change in the clinical signs. The hematologicaland biochemical analyses showed some changes that returned to reference levels without impairment of homeostasis. The treatment did not induceuntoward changes in organs as shown by histological studies. The in vivo results showed that has low toxicity.Conclusion: PRE is safe and can be potentially used as an aphrodisiac in future studies.Keywords: Protodioscin, Aphrodisiac, Trigonella foenum-graecum, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, Toxicity,Histopathological studies

    Studies on Degradation of Reactive Red 135 Dye in Wastewater using Ozone

    AbstractAn attempt has been made in this paper to identify effects of efficient ozonation processes for decolorization and/or degradation of organic pollutants for environmental protection. In dyes, since the chromosphere groups with conjugated double bonds, which are responsible for color, can be broken down by ozone either directly or indirectly forming smaller molecules, thereby decreasing the color of the effluents. Ozonation and its combinations are effective for wastewater treatment. In the present study 99.9% decolorization of RR 135 was accomplished by ozonation. The time required for the complete decolorization gradually increase with increase in the initial dye concentration. For RR135 after 48, 55 and 67min reaction time, complete decolorizaton was achieved at initial dye concentrations of 500, 1000 and 1500mg/L, respectively. The COD removal efficiency gradually decreased with an increase in the initial concentration. For RR135 after 60, 65 and 87min reaction time, the COD removal percentage was 66.66%, 61% and 56.64% at initial dye concentrations of 500, 1000 and 1500mg/L, respectively

    Anesthetic management of pulmonary endarterectomy in a patient with suprasystemic pulmonary pressure: a case report

    Pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) is a potentially curative procedure for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. A 34-year Indian male presented with supra-systemic pulmonary pressure was taken for PEA after achievable optimization. A successful PEA was performed with the help of total cardiac arrest. Patient developed reperfusion pulmonary edema post operatively, which was managed medically. The problems encountered by anesthesiologists in this case were preoperative pulmonary hypertension with chronic hypoxia and postoperative management of reperfusion pulmonary edema

    Prospective cross sectional study on anatomical variation with special emphasis on critical anatomical landmark in patients undergoing multi detector computed tomography of paranasal sinuse

    Introduction: Paranasal sinuses are best evaluated by multi-detector computed tomography. Evaluation of sphenoid sinus pneumatization, lamina papyracea, onodi cell, cribriform plate, types of optic canal and supraorbital pneumatisation are useful for evaluation of the surgical anatomy of paranasal sinuses for the radiologist which guides the surgeon to take a correct approach for surgery without major complications of crucial structures. CT is recently used as a investigation of choice in the assessment of the paranasal sinuses and surrounding structures. Aims and Objective: To study the types of anatomical variation of paranasal sinuses and osteomeatal complex and clinical importance of these various of paranasal sinus on pre-operative computed tomography. Materials and Methods: Over a period of 18 months, 104 patients referred for CT scan of PNS region G.K.General hospital were evaluated for the presence of normal variants of the paranasal region. Unenhanced CT of the PNS was performed for these patients in the coronal plane, complemented by axial views in selected cases. Results: Out of 109 patients who fulfilled inclusion criteria were studied from that most common is type II cribriform plate found in 80.7% of patients, Presence of haller cells was noted in 11.01% of individuals. Most of the uncinate process was attached to lamina papyracea in 88.9% individuals. Onodi cell was identified among 41% patients. Depending on the pneumatization of the sphenoid sinus, type I course of optic nerve was most common. Sellar variety of sphenoid sinus was more common observed in 82.5% patients. Presence of supraorbital pneumatization was identified in 72.4% patients among total subjects. Conclusion: The presence of anatomical variants does not indicate a predisposition to sinus pathology but these variations may predispose patients to increased risk of intraoperative complication
