Tesi
Data matching: Construction of COVID-19 - related variables for Young Lives Peru
This Technical Note outlines the COVID-19 matched dataset from the Young Lives cohorts in Peru created by the Young Lives team. The matched dataset combines COVID-19 administrative data with the extensive longitudinal data set from the Young Lives study in Peru. The authors document the steps taken to create a set of variables that measure the number of COVID-19 cases, deaths and vaccine doses applied in the districts where Young Lives participants reside, along with the duration of the lockdown periods they endured. They collected administrative data and integrated it with the Young Lives datasets from Call 2 (August to October 2020), Call 3 (November to December 2020), Call 4 (August to September 2021) and Call 5 (November to December 2021). This data matching process enables assessment of how the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on participants development outcomes, including their health, well-being, and their education and work lives
Patterns of accounting history literature: Movements at the beginning of the 21st century
This paper addresses and updates the challenge made by Carmona [2004] regarding the need to broaden the accounting history literature into periods, settings, and sectors outside those traditionally published in specialist journals. For this purpose, we review three international journals the Accounting Historians Journal; Accounting, Business & Financial History; and Accounting History and two national publications Rivista di Contabilita e Cultura Aziendali (Italy) and De Computis (Spain) over the period 2000-2008. The results show changes in the publishing patterns of accounting history research. We also explore whether non-Anglo-Saxon researchers have widened the settings, periods, and sectors studied from those of Anglo-Saxon researchers, thus altering the traditional focus of accounting history research
Blackspot seabream early life stages dispersal by hydrodynamic modelling (Strait of Gibraltar - Alboran Sea)
The Blackspot seabream (Pagellus bogaraveo) is a commercially appreciated demersal fish, widespread in the
north-eastern Atlantic and middle-western Mediterranean. The Strait of Gibraltar (SoG) is an important fishing
area where artisanal fleets from Spain and Morocco target this species using special longline gears known
as “voracera”. Different studies on the health status of this species claim an overexploitation of the resource
without any kind of objective management measures implemented yet by the associated countries. Improving
the knowledge of the population dynamics, and particularly during the spawning window, is crucial for a better
management of the fishing effort for this species. There is an agreement in literature in considering the SoG as
an especially energetic and dispersive spawning zone for this species. Once spawned, eggs and larvae (ELS) are
assumed to be scattered by the currents towards both sides of the SoG, mostly to the eastwards Alboran basin,
where high concentrations of juveniles occur.
A high resolution hydrodynamic model coupled to a Lagrangian particle tracking system is employed to assess the
potential dispersal pathways of blackspot seabream ELS spawned in the SoG. Recursive releases of passive tracers
in different virtual spawning spots and depths within the SoG region are tracked under different tidal conditions
in order to obtain an overall characterization of the spatial dispersion patterns of the studied species. Semidiurnal
tidal currents emerge as the primary factor in determining the horizontal dispersion and pathway of the spawning
products, although the spring-neap tidal cycle and the spawning depth can be also important variables depending
on the region considered as well as the arrival zone for the ELS dispersal paths over the Alboran SeaUniversidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional CEIMA
Low and high frequency approximations to eigenvibrations of string with double contrasts
We study eigenvibrations for inhomogeneous string consisting of two parts
with strongly contrasting stiffness and mass density. In this work we treat a
critical case for the high frequency approximations, namely the case when the
order of mass density inhomogeneity is the same as the order of stiffness
inhomogeneity, with heavier part being softer. The limit problem for high
frequency approximations depends nonlinearly on the spectral parameter. The
quantization of the spectral semiaxies is applied in order to get a close
approximations of eigenvalues as well as eigenfunctions for the prime problem
under perturbation.Comment: 13 pages, 6 plots; submitted for publication; typos added
