Literary Ecology in Kongga Owose Folklore

    Get PDF
Ecology and folklore are two different sides of life. Both have to do with different things. Ecology deals with the interrelationships between living things and the environment, such as land, water, plants and animals. While folklore is a part of life events in nature related to humans, nature, animals and plants that are passed down from generation to generation, from generation to generation in various shades of life and culture. The folklore of Kongga Owose implies three different stages of life, namely (1) the heyday of Kongga Owose, (2) the interim period, and (3) humans (Sorume people) fought against Kongga Owose

A LITERARY MITHOLOGY STUDY ON THE STORY OF THE BAPAK BIOLOGI SOEKARNO-BILOGICAL FATHER OF SOEKARNO

    Get PDF
The story of Bapak Biologi Soekarno (bilogical father of Soekarno) is a story that developed in the community of Butonese. This story contains the existence of Soekarno who was born from the descendants of the nobleman of Buton, La Ode Muhammad Idris. This story is certainly controversial with the historical record of the Indonesian nation who recognizes Raden Soekemi Sosrodihardjo as the father of Soekarno. This controversy is very strong. Each maintains a belief that is assumed to be true. This controversy can be decomposed by restoring the essence of myth as a narrative story. Myths are seen in various dimensions, such as (1) factual, (2) scientific, (3) imagination, and (4) spiritual. These four dimensions then give rise to the four truths in the narrative story, such as (1) factual truth, (2) scientific truth, (3) the truth of the imagination, and (4) spiritual truth. Referring to the nature of the narrative story and its truths, the controversy of Biological Father of Soekarno is not necessarily the case. Both have elements of truth, either factually, scientifically, imaginatively, or spiritually

The purpose of this research is to describe the language attitude of Tolakinese people toward Mekongga dialect. This research applied qualitative approach. The place of this research was carried out in Kolaka District. Techniques of collecting data through interviews, observation, documents. Based on the results of data analysis found that Tolaki ethnic community in Kolaka experiencing relatively negative language attitude toward Mekongga dialect. This was because the speakers of Mekongga dialect began to feel less confident in using the local language. Another thing that caused it is the presence of cross-breeding. A family with parents of different ethnic groups, then it is probable that their children do not master one of the languages of their parents, even each parents' language is not controlled by the child. However, there are actually some speakers who show their caring attitude towards the Tolaki language of Mekongga dialect. It is a positive signal that there is still a Tolakinese of Mekongga dialect community who is affectionate and caring about the local language. But the problem is they have not been able to do something meaningful in order to preserve the local language. The first step they can take is to show a more positive language attitude using Mekongga dialect in daily communication, especially in the family environment, i.e to children, husbands, and wives. In addition to the low language attitudes of the community, this also cannot be separated from the lack of significant government attention to regional languages. This is evidenced by the implementation of local language learning content that is still below the standards, both in terms of teacher availability and teacher competence. It is also in line with the government's policy on naming roads and public facilities that are less aligned to the preservation of the Tolaki-dialect of Mekongga

Clean Water Facility as a Communal Space in Fishermen Settlement of Galsesong

Clean water facilities in fishermen settlement Galesong there were three types, namely public wells, public toilets, and public taps. The drinking water service was one of the main places visited by the surrounding residents. The primary function as a place clean water supply for surrounding residents, and social functions as a communal space, where people conduct social interaction. The impact of these interactions promote tolerance and togetherness communities, as well as improving the security environment. The purpose of the research was to determine the intensity of the interaction of the three types clean water facility, and social interaction distance of communication was established, and its effect on people's social lives. The method used was field exploration of behavioral mapping combined with time activity. That was done to help researchers determine the level and the depth of social interaction. The result was to identify differences in the frequency of social interactions that occur in the third water facilities and social distance that occur based on user age

Adaptive comfort model incorporating temperature gradient for a UK residential building

Thermal comfort field experiments were conducted to acquire thermal comfort data of 119 participants in a test house representative of a typical UK house. This paper compares the performance of popular PMV-based thermal comfort index vs neutral temperature based on Actual Mean Vote. The aim of this research was to incorporate vertical thermal gradient, which is usually a neglected yet highly influential parameter in a residential setting and propose a new adaptive thermal comfort model. The new adaptive model (LPMV) has been developed using a polynomial curve fit method. This method was chosen as it has the capability to correlate indoor environmental parameters with AMV and incorporated them in the generated mathematical model. The model requires temperature gradient and SET* only to determine neutral temperatures which makes it the first of its kind. The LMPV model was rigorously tested against thermal comfort data compiled in this study and against independent/unbiased data (the ASHRAE RP-884 database). LPMV showed up to 0.7°C improvement in predicting neutral temperature of occupants compared to the famous Fanger’s PMV model. This can result in better prediction of a suitable heating setpoint temperature which has great implications on annual energy demand

Performance assessment of Fanger’s PMV in a UK residential building in heating season

Traditionally there are two approaches to thermal comfort studies in the indoor environment. The first approach is to conduct tests in fully controlled climate chambers located in laboratories which help in maintaining desired environmental conditions for the experiments. However, the thermal physics of climate chambers are very different to that of real buildings. Additionally, the numbers of participants in such studies are also limited. The alternate/second approach is to place sensors and collect data in a set of homes and offices over a period of time where researchers have virtually no control on the thermal environment. This approach does involve a large set of participants however the large variations in thermal environmental parameters make the data not very reliable to elucidate trends. This paper reports on an original approach that combines the advantages of both these methods. In this research thermal comfort studies were conducted in a test house representative of a real residential building and a large set of participants. The thermal environmental parameters and heating strategies inside the test house were also fully controlled by researchers. The aim was to assess the performance of Fanger’s thermal comfort model (PMV) in predicting the actual thermal comfort of occupants (AMV) during heating season using two different types of heating emitters. A total of 119 participants between the ages of 19 and 21 years took part in these experiments. AMV of the occupants was determined by conducting surveys whilst PMV was calculated using sensors installed in the living room. Thermal neutral temperatures were calculated and compared for both AMV and PMV indices. It was found that there is a strong and directly proportional relation of both AMV and PMV with the operative temperature in the room. It was also observed that PMV would typically overestimate the neutral temperature compared to the statistically derived neutral temperature which the occupants would consider thermally comfortable
