Propagation of high-energy neutrinos in a background of ultralight scalar dark matter
If high-energy neutrinos propagate in a background of ultralight scalar field
particles of dark matter (eV), neutrino-dark matter
interactions can play a role and affect the neutrino flux. In this work we
analyse this effect using transport equations that account for the neutrino
regeneration as well as absorption, and we consider the neutrino flux
propagation in the extragalactic medium and also through the galactic halo of
dark matter. We show the results for the final flux to arrive on Earth for
different cases of point and diffuse neutrino fluxes. {We conclude that this
type of neutrino interactions with ultralight scalar particles as dark matter
can yield very different results in the neutrino flux and in the flavor ratios
that can be measured in neutrino detectors such as IceCube.Comment: 11 pages, 11 figures, accepted for publication in Astroparticle

French influence on Portuguese architects in the age of enlightenment
This investigation shows the European influence on the work of Portuguese architects of the Enlightenment period. Based on previous studies we focus our attention on the design of "Praça do ComĂ©rcio" square and on a hypothesis, that it was based on the French Royal Square. We demonstrate that the design of Lisbon from the second half of the eighteenth-century was influenced by the theories and best practices of the time. We also confirm that the architect EugĂ©nio dos Santos e Carvalho, a member of the reconstruction team for the Baixa, had in his personal library several reference books of French architectural practice that certainly influenced his architecture. The plans for the main square of Lisbon's lower city, "Praça do ComĂ©rcio", can be compared to the "Place de Nos ConquĂȘtes", predecessor of the "Place VĂȘndome", in its design, architecture and dimensions. This research analysed the cartography and iconography of Lisbon's reconstruction. In particular, the drawings of "Praça do ComĂ©rcio" and "Place de nos ConquĂȘtes" were exhaustively studied. The comparative study of the elements for both squares lead to the conclusion that the Portuguese square presents many aspects of the French Age of Enlightenment, and in particular those featured in the "Place de nos ConquĂȘtes". This paper concludes that the Portuguese urban design and architectural projects of the 18th century are the result of previous knowledge where it was always possible to articulate the vernacular with academic design, and where many different influences left their mark on the culture of the period. The plans for the lower part of Lisbon display a mixture of references that relate to architectural and urban planning traditions of the Portuguese military engineering and contemporary French urban planning
The impact of public health crises on Lisbon public space policies: From the 19th century to the present days
Cities have been affected, throughout History, by earthquakes, big fires, epidemics, and pandemics that sparked moments of reflection and change in the city form and public space quantity and quality. For example, this happened after the Great Fire of London (1666) or the Great Earthquake of Lisbon (1755). After episodes of destruction or disruption, debates and projects forge the urban answer to diminish future losses and risks. From this starting point, we discuss the impact of two distinct public health crisis - the epidemics of the 19th century and the current COVID-19 pandemic - on Lisbon's public spaces. For both periods, we analyze primary sources - strategies, plans, projects, and papers - designed by Lisbon City Council and that depict the ideas and tactics to tackle the urban challenges imposed by the public health crises. With this research, we discuss the impact of public health crises on public spaces policies design through two particular examples in Lisbon, from the 19th century and the current days. Furthermore, we question if these crises served, to any extent, the intentions to qualify public places and introduce a new form and image on Lisbon public spaces.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Pairs-Production of Higgs in Association with Bottom Quarks Pairs at Colliders
In a previous paper, we studied the Higgs pair production in the standard
model with the reaction . Based on this, we study
the Higgs pair production via . We evaluate the
total cross section of and calculate the number total of events
considering the complete set of Feynman diagrams at tree-level, and compare
this process with the process . The numerical
computation is done for the energy which is expected to be available at a
possible Next Linear Collider with a center-of-mass energy and luminosity 1000 .Comment: 12 pages, 6 figure
Reading of the evolution of the urban shape of the Plateau - City of Praia
An analysis of urban morphology of the historical nucleus (the Plateau) of Praia (Cape Verde) highlights the process of thinking and making a city expressed in AntĂłnio de Lencastre 's plan and its further development. For this, the processes of urban transformation occurring over time in the Plateau are shown. The methodology used for this urban analysis allowed an understanding of the intervention process on the Plateau through an interpretative analysis of morphological evolution obtained from: i) a detailed identification of cartography; ii) a comparative morphological analysis of urban development based on old and current cartography; iii) a vectorization of the maps through scale normalization (the letters were overlapped with the 2018 chart); iv) an identification of public buildings and public spaces; and v) a quantification of the elements of urban form. In the quantification of the elements of the urban form, the reading and interpretation of the different maps is synthesized through analytical drawings and tables.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
