The main aim of this diploma thesis is to define the key factors that cause ever-widening economic gap between South Korea and Thailand. The methods of analysis, description and comparison were used in order to reach this aim. The framework of this thesis is the middle income trap, based on which the difference in terms of economic developmnet of both states is explained

A Humanitarian Assessment of the Arms Trade Treaty: Reducing the Proliferation of Conventional Weapons to Civilian Combatants

    No full text
The Arms Trade Treaty, enacted in 2013, aims to decrease human suffering by limiting the international supply of conventional weapons. However, this treaty has not created a positive obligation on states to respect international humanitarian law due to competing interests, lack of enforcement, and ambiguity. This paper analyzes the proliferation of violence resulting in violations of both international humanitarian law and international human rights law attributable to the availability of conventional weapons supplied through the international arms trade. By analyzing the cases of Saudi-Arabia, Iraq, Syria and Sudan, this paper highlights the urgency of creating more legal obligations on States to stop the widespread availability of weapons. At the root of the problem is the fact that the weapons intended to provide security for the State and its civilians are being used by the very people that International Humanitarian Law seeks to protect

The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to define and describe commodity structures of trade, which are key for every single BRICS economy and which evince the highest rate of interconnection and complementarity within BRICS grouping. The methods of comparison, description and analysis were used in order to reach this aim. Great emphasis is put on examination of imports and export of BRICS countries in 2008 -- 2012 period. From the point of view of the commodity structure division, the Standard International Trade Classification -- SITC was used in this thesis. Also the most important socio-economic indicators related to BRICS countries are stated in thesis

JOMINY END QUENCHING OF 4140 STEEL: THE EFFECT OF TIME AND TEMPURATURE ON AUSTENITIC GRAIN GROWTH

    Get PDF
This project investigated the effects of austenitizing temperatures and time on the hardness of 4140 steel. The most common test for studying these effects is the Jominy End Quench test. In this test a 140mm long and 25.4 mm in diameter sample is heated into the austenite range for selected temperatures and times and water spray quenched at one end, producing a varying cooling rate across the sample. Currently the Jominy End Quench test focuses on the hardenability of the steel. An improved model for correlating the Jominy End Quench curves and the resulting grain size curves proposed introduce a better defined heating and cooling cycle. The improved model obtained will optimistically result in less time spent in research and development
