    [History and Contribution of Barzanji and Marhaban Practices in The Main Councils of Society] Sejarah serta Sumbangan Amalan Barzanji dan Marhaban dalam Majlis-Majlis Utama Masyarakat

    The art of barzanji and marhaban is included in the sound art of Islamic heritage. It has long been practiced by the Muslim community in certain occasions. The art of barzanji and marhaban is a series of poems about the story of Rasulullah SAW which are presented with its own rhythm. This practice has good implications for the appreciation of the sirah of Rasulullah SAW and is able to foster unity among the community. However, recent developments have found that the practice of barzanji and marhaban is increasingly eroded in society. This article explains about the history and role of the art of barzanji and marhaban. Several suggestions were also put forward to strengthen the art of barzanji and marhaban so that it can continue to be practiced in society. Keywords: barzanji, marhaban, sound art of Islamic.   Seni barzanji dan marhaban adalah termasuk dalam  seni suara warisan Islam. Ianya telah lama diamalkan oleh masyarakat Islam dalam majlis-majlis tertentu. Seni barzanji dan marhaban adalah rangkaian puisi tentang kisah Rasulullah s.a.w yang disampaikan dengan iramanya yang tersendiri. Amalan ini memberikan implikasi yang baik kepada penghayatan sirah Rasulullah s.a.w serta mampu memupuk perpaduan di kalangan masyarakat.  Namun, perkembangan terkini mendapati amalan barzanji dan marhaban semakin terhakis dalam masyarakat. Artikel ini menjelaskan tentang sejarah dan peranan seni barzanji dan marhaban.     The concept of Wasatiyyah in governing the Muslim community of Singapore

    Wasatiyyah is the original nature of Islam, therefore Allah calls Muslims as ummatan wasatan. The principle of wasatiyyah is the reason why Islamic sharia can be relevant to be practiced anywhere and at all times, including in secular countries such as Singapore. This article discusses the concept of wasatiyyah implemented by MUIS and related institutions in governing the Muslim community in Singapore. The research method in this article is qualitative with a literature review approach. The collected data was analyzed using the opinion of scholars or experts in the field of sharia law. From the results of this study, the author concludes that in governing the Muslim community of Singapore, MUIS and related institutions have adopted the concept of wasatiyyah

    Halal risk control at the upstream level of the broiler chicken supply chain

    Halal Assurance System (HAS) was develop over the past 6 years and has undergone several changes and enhancements in terms of its policy requirement in 2019 by JAKIM. However, the implementation of HAS in the poultry industry only discuss the development of this system at the slaughtering stage and also produces downstream of chicken products only. Therefore, there are still no studies that focus on the implementation of HAS at the upstream level of the halal food supply in livestock farms although much research has been conducted. The basic criteria emphasized in the HAS is the determination of the halal control point at each step or process involved. For example, there is five elements in the farming of broiler farms that have been identified as halal risks consisting of food and beverage, medical, farm biosecurity and infrastructure, and logistics were proposed by the authors. Therefore, the qualitative methodology approach through documentation analysis is used to obtain sources of information to discuss the importance of HAS and to explain the elements of halal risk control (HRC) in poultry farming activities. Implementing of this systematic system can also help the industry especially in the livestock sector and the implementation of halal certification policies makes it a key in maintaining the transparency and halal integrity to benefit the consumer starting from the upstream level of halal food supply chain. The study also suggested that the HAS be applied in the poultry sector in future and that it would also have a positive impact if it was implemented in other livestock activities such as others ruminant animals and fish which it is a main supply of halal meat to the Muslim communities in Malaysia

    Halal assurance management system in chicken broiler industry

    Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) had made it compulsory for the application of Malaysia halal certificate at industry level to implement Halal Assurance System (HAS). The main purpose and focus to develop this halal system was to upgrade the integrity of halal product which was based by the 'Farm to Fork' concept that involved from the raw material production up to the end user in the chain. In the application of HAS, specifically in Malaysia the focus was only at the level of receiving of raw material until the end user, instead of started from the highest chain of food supply which involved the broiler chicken farm industry. Therefore, qualitative methodology through document analysis was used in order to obtain the source of information and to explain the element of HAS such as Halal Critical Point in broiler chicken farming activities. Other than that, issues related to the halal control such as animal feed, medication source and animal welfare also discussed in this paper to discover HAS application on farm level. This systematic system and halal certification policy will benefit on farming sector and make it able to be the main reference to halal player's integrity because it will give benefit the consumer from the whole of the halal food chain

    Persepsi Pelajar Fakulti Pendidikan Terhadap Makanan Berlogo Halal

    Kajian ini dilakukan bagi mengetahui persepsi pelajar tahun tiga Fakulti Pendidikan Universiti Teknologi Malaysia terhadap makanan berlogo halal. Selain itu, kajian ini juga bertujuan mengenal pasti pandangan pelajar berkaitan faktorfaktor yang diberi penekanan dalam pemilihan makanan serta kepentingan pemilihan makanan berlogo halal. Seramai 112 orang responden dalam kalangan pelajar tahun tiga Fakulti Pendidikan, UTM, Skudai, Johor telah terlibat dalam kajian ini. Set soal selidik mengandungi 30 item telah diedarkan kepada responden dan dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk mendapatkan nilai kekerapan, peratusan dan min menggunakan perisian Statistical Package For Social Science (SPSS) versi 15.0. Nilai kebolehpercayaan instrumen kajian ialah ? = 0.817. Analisis data dinyatakan dalam bentuk jadual. Secara keseluruhannya hasil kajian menunjukkan responden member persepsi yang positif terhadap aspek yang dikaji. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan persepsi pelajar terhadap makanan berlogo halal adalah tinggi dengan nilai min 4.41. Manakala min bagi faktor-faktor yang diberi penekanan dalam pemilihan makanan adalah 4.10 dan min bagi kepentingan pemilihan makanan berlogo halal ialah 4.69. Di akhir kajian, penyelidik mengemukakan beberapa cadangan kepada pihak tertentu untuk diberi perhatian terhadap masalah yang dikaji. Kajian lanjutan juga turut dicadangkan untuk penyelidikan pada masa akan datang

    The purpose of this research is to study and identify an effective method of learning and memorizing al-Quran in Kuala Lumpur and Terengganu. The focus of the study is to know and the most effective method in memorizing al-Quran. The research has been done at two memorizing institutions in Malaysia; al-Quran memorizing institute of Kuala Lumpur and the School of Quran at Kubang Bujuk, Terengganu. 368 respondents has been selected from these institutions to be involved in this research. The instrument used in this research is a set of questionnaires, interview and library research. The data is analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 12.0. In summary, this research has achieved its objective; that is to know the most suitable and the most effective method in the learning and memorizing al- Quran

    Polemic in celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad

    The celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is one of the most popular practices among Muslims in the Malay archipelago. However, these practices often get resistance from a group of Muslims. Various labels are given to such practices as bid’ah, synonymous practices from Christians during the birth of Prophet Jesus, zindik practice and it is Jewish planning to destroy Islam. Therefore, this study is conducted to analyze the polemics in relation to the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and to analyze the opinion of Islamic jurist to the related issues. The study involved qualitative and quantitative data through interviews, content analysis, and questionnaires. A total of four respondents were interviewed, 34 documents were analyzed, and 233 respondents answered the questionnaires. The findings of the study found that the issue of the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was an issue of ijtihad. The study concludes that the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is a bid'ah hasanah, even it is encouraged with the purpose of expressing love to the him

    Food allergy consumption according to halalan tayyiban perspective: a review

    Food allergies are the effects of a detrimental reaction from the body's immuntive system on certain types of food that are considered harmful to the body. Food allergies are also considered a critical issue in food safety and food quality management systems. In fact, the issue of food allergy consumption is also discussed from the aspects of medical and food industry to prevent any risk of consuming food that is harmful to consumers. Generally, the implementation of the concept of ‘halalan tayyibban’ only focuses on the study of raw materials, food processing activities and storage of final ingredients from illegal, clean and safe to be eaten elements. However, this aspect of food allergy intake is not discussed comprehensively based on the perspective of ‘Halalan Tayyiban’. Therefore, this article uses a qualitative approach through document analysis to describe the importance of consuming allergic foods according to the perspective of ‘halalan tayyiban’ in-depth. In addition, the aspects of food allergy control and management through food quality management system are also discussed. This study also suggests that the assessment of risk analysis and food allergy management be discussed in more depth according to the Islamic perspective based on the sources of the Quran and hadith. Hence, this study will have a positive impact on improving the halal auditing process and strengthening the integrity of food product status in line with the concept of ‘halalan tayyiban.
