    A Type Inference Algorithm for Secure Ambients

    We consider a type discipline for the Ambient Calculus that associates ambients with security levels and constrains them to be traversed by or opened in ambients of higher security clearance only. We present a bottom-up algorithm that, given an untyped process PP, computes a minimal set of constraints on security levels such that all actions during runs of PP are performed without violating the security level priorities. Such an algorithm appears to be a prerequisite to use type systems to ensure security properties in the web scenario

    1/N_c corrections to the magnetic susceptibility of the QCD vacuum

    We investigate the magnetic susceptibility of the QCD vacuum with the 1/Nc1/N_c corrections taken into account, based on the instanton vacuum. Starting from the instanton liquid model we derive the gauged light-quark partition function in the presence of the current quark mass as well as of external Abelian vector and tensor fields. We consider the 1/Nc1/N_c meson-loop corrections which are shown to contribute to the magnetic susceptibility by around 15% for the up (and down) quarks. We also take into account the tensor terms of the quark-quark interaction from the instanton vacuum as well as the finite-width effects, both of which are of order O(1/Nc)\mathcal{O}(1/N_c). The effects of the tensor terms and finite width turn out to be negligibly small. The final results for the up-quarks are given as: χ03540MeV\chi_0 \simeq 35-40 \mathrm{MeV} with the quark condensate 0_0. We also discuss the pion mass dependence of the magnetic susceptibility in order to give a qualitative guideline for the chiral extrapolation of lattice data.Comment: 18 pages, 5 figures. It will focus on the pollution and purification around blood shed in homicide as well as women‟s blood discharge. The polluting power of blood and the necessity to undertake purifications emerges in connection with death and birth. It is argued that given the exact knowledge and accurate ritual procedure needed in case of pollution, it was crucial to transmit to the members of the civic community this religious expertise and ritual knowledge, using a variety of pedagogical tools and learning strategies. The divinities of Apollo and Artemis as healers and purifiers offer the mythological background that harmonises the selection of literary and epigraphical sources here discussed

They were prompted by emotional experiences, they manipulated feelings, and their result could have been a renewed emotional state. This paper intends to look at how the archaeological and ritual settings contributed to shape the emotional and bodily experience of individual participants. Active compounds such as frankincense could have helped the uplifting of negative emotions, but lead exposure could have provoked health damage. Sensory deprivation could have enhanced the sense of being in contact with the divine or could have distorted perception. The case studies include a selection of documents from the sanctuary of Demeter and Kore in Corinth (I-II CE), the sanctuary of Isis and Magna Mater in Mainz (I-II CE), and that of Anna Perenna in Rome (II-V CE).     129-136Variation of soil-microbial communities are good bioindicators of human impacts in soils, such as different soils management or contamination. Considering that traditional methods of isolation and taxonomic analysis do not consider the functionality of the microbial community, Community-Level Physiological Profiles (CLPP) emerged as a complementary methodology to study microbial communities. Several studies have shown that Biolog® EcoPlates® are very useful for determining physiological differences between communities from different samples. However, commercial microplates have some disadvantages which led us to the idea of replacing them by microplates prepared in the laboratory (Laboratory's). Here, we compared both types of microplates using soil samples from a bioremediation assay. We compared a) the average well color development for each sample, b) the averages of absorbance values for each type of microplate, c) Principal Components, and d) Shannon-Weaver's diversity index (H). Although Laboratory's showed significantly lower Average absorbance values than EcoPlates®, the principal component analysis and diversity index did not differ between types of microplates. In conclusion, both types of microplates showed a relatively similar ability to detect differences in the CLPP of the treatments studied. Consequently, microplates prepared in laboratory are a reliable and economical tool to study the physiology of soil microbial communities

    First record of brown long-eared bat Plecotus auritus (Chiroptera: Vespertilionidae) for Sicily island (Italy)

    The knowledge of the bat fauna of Sicily (Southern Italy) is scarce, fragmentary or sometimes even confusing. A recent review mentioned 20 species for the region, but it is likely that the checklist of bats of Sicily is still far from being exhaustive. To help fill this gap, in the past few years specific studies were carried out on the distribution of bat species in Sicily, especially in the woodlands of the Nebrodi Mountains. In the municipality of Caronia (Messina province) has captured a young female brown long-eared bat Plecotus auritus (Linneaus, 1758). The capture of P. auritus in Sicily represents the first record of brown long-eared bat Plecotus auritus for Sicily island, an interesting biogeographical record, as this bat is mostly known for the north and centre of the Italian peninsul
