Enhancing electro conductivity, antibacterial and UV blocking of cotton fabric by using graphene/zirconium dioxide nano composite

    Get PDF
Nano composite of graphene/zirconium dioxide has been produced and then coated on the surface of cotton fabric. Scanning electron microscope and transmittance electron microscope of sample prove the existence of nano zirconium dioxide distribution on the surface of cotton fabric. Results show that the electrical conductivity of treated sample has increased in comparison with sample without graphene/zirconium dioxide. It is also observed that the use of graphene/zirconium dioxide composite increases UV blocking of fabric. Furthermore, the nanocomposites are found to have antibacterial property against both Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria according to AATCC test method

Tie Design using Electrical Conductive Fabrics

    Get PDF
One of the clothing requirements, especially for men, is the tie that was initially used by the ancient Iranians. The designing of ties without an Iranian design on them, despite the fact that they are originated out of Eastern traditions, is one of weaknesses of fabric and clothes design. One of the new methods to create designs on textiles is the use of new technology; in this research light was used for tie design. Due to the replica tie designs on the market, this study attempts to use original Iranian designs, through conductive fabrics, to produce light and to create a new design. This study uses graphene oxide for the production of conductive fabrics. Finally, the tie design by passing electric current through the tie has been simulated and a set of tie designs are provided.

Conceptual Costume Design: Utilizing Recyclable Materials to Help Sustain the Environment

    Get PDF
Dress reflects people’s perceptions, yet it is sometimes vague and uncertain. What will be added or subtracted from dress will help to extend our future. Materials produced or removed from clothing will help to sustain our environment. Materials unsuitable with the environment constitute the bulk of the objects we re-use. This study integrates costume design and materials incompatible with the environment in creative ways. Art, with its various and special characteristics, can create conceptual clothing as a new form of art.  This project conveys conceptual costume design using materials incompatible with the environment in order to send an environmentally sustainable message. Hopefully, with public- awareness, the recycling of incompatible materials can be used in many ways such as ‘costume design’. The main focus and goal of this study is to address this issue

Antibacterial, self-cleaning and UV blocking of wool fabric coated with nano Ce/ZnO and Ce/ TiO2

    Get PDF
Ultrasonic method has been used in order to load nano Ce, ZnO and TiO2 on the surface of wool fabric. Three types of nano composite fabric have been prepared (wool /Ce, wool /Ce/ZnO, and wool /Ce/ TiO2) and their physical properties are examined. Field emission scanning electron microscope images of the samples show a good distribution of nano material, and EDX and XRD findings prove the amount usage of nano materials. On the other hand, elemental mapping is used to study separately the distribution of each nano material. Antibacterial property of the samples shows excellent result against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Also, UV blocking of treated samples shows low transmission from all samples, when exposed to ultra violet irradiation. Self-cleaning property of wool samples illustrates that doping of nano materials on the surface of wool fabric has an excellent effect on increasing the self-cleaning efficiency.

Implementing Non-Repetitive Designs on Upholstery Fabrics

    Get PDF
In this study, a new method has been introduced for the production of upholstery fabric, with a single design feature such as designs without repetition of color features to avoid  uniformity in the furniture. In this regard, single fabric design with colors appropriate to sofa structure is considered. The aim is to study the different upholstery fabrics and to reach the starting point for upholstery fabric design. The design can provide feeling of relaxation and comfort for human beings. In today’s stressful life, humans are concerned with the need to see and touch elegancy and simplicity in their surroundings, despite the lack of diversity in upholstery fabric design that cannot fulfill their wishes. Therefore, designs need to be consistent with the theme so that they are integrated in the field and lead the viewer’s sight to the surrounding, as if the design is ongoing.

Designing Costume for Circus Performers Considering the Special Capabilities of the Cloth

This paper on designing circus performers’ costume, has been written based on a play in which animals costumes are used instead of the real animals in order to protect them. In this paper costume of five main characters has been designed creatively. They are: The Turtle, the about to extinct Salamander, the Ant, the plant and the circus chief. They have been characterized through costume designing. The circus chief character because of his dominant presence has been designed based on the circus games style and the plant character is a symbol of growth while the Ant completely evokes the image of knowledge. Water and fire are the essential elements of the circus therefore, in this descriptive-experimental paper Titanium Silicate and Zirconium have been used in order for the costumes to be both fire and water resistant enough to provide the performers with better comfort

Designing Fabric Promotional Gift (Case Study: Sewing Machine Manufacturer)

The lack of supplies and complimentary products of factories is one of the problems that are being considered in today’s world. The souvenir set designs for sewing machine factories can be a better approach for advertisement. Environmental protection is the duty of every human being. The earth is the home of humans and all individuals must be careful in environmental protection and spend their energy and income on green environment for the community. In this context, special promotions to develop a cultural background among people gains importance. In this paper, an attempt has been made to use a fabric base to design accessories and promotional gifts (or complimentary gifts) for sewing machine factories, which can both semantically relate to the factories’ final product and be environmentally suitable. Accordingly, after conducting the examination, the designs related to the concept of factory products (e.g. form of yarn or needle) were made with reference to the research objectives, and initial sketches were drawn and printed on the cotton fabric via silk printing technique. The results revealed an improvement of concept transferred to the audience along with advertising and efficiency related to factory products. The designs were consistent with factory products and efforts were made to preserve the environment

Application of Laser in Production of Textiles Using Abstract Patterns

    Get PDF
In the present era, neglect of basic skills and updated technologies in the field of art has decreased progress and performance. That's why superior technologies can play a vital role in the development of art. Laser is one of the technologies used to cut a variety of materials, including textile. Laser has sufficient power, precision, and high speed through the accumulation of energy and motion in a straight line. One of the applied arts in the field of textile design is the art of cloth making. In this article, textile fabrics are made by lasers in order to enhance the precision and speed, as far as the efficiency and quality of work can be promoted. Moreover, in art section, abstract art is used in order to create designs on fabrics, and abstract designs are provided using laser. Eventually, clothes were produced using abstract designs, and with the help of laser and textile making

Combining Traditional and Modern Art to make Fabric using Poly Vinyl Alcohol Material

    Get PDF
Art in a broader sense refers to an activity that is spontaneous and self-restrained. Over many years, traditional art has represented its concepts with motifs and colors, which reflects the consistency and harmony with nature. On the other hand, there is modern art, which refers to trends of artistic improvement and modernism being affected by recent thoughts, and one wonders whether traditional art may fade away with the presence of new ideas and thoughts. Therefore, considering both traditional and modern art, one of the strategies that represent significance and prevent the decline of any one will be combination of the two arts, to harmonize with nature along with novelty and modernism. In this regard, traditional colors and patterns were used in the present study in order to design textile with the combination of modern art, since the art of making fabric has been accompanied with creativity and innovation. Therefore, Poly Vinyl Alcohol material has been used with the feature of being soluble in water instead of ordinary cloth
