An Investigation into the Effective Factors on the Intention to Commercialization of Knowledge in a University: A Case Study

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study was to provide a causal model for factors affecting the commercialization of academic research. This study is applied research in terms of purpose and a descriptive study of correlation type in terms of method. The statistical population consists of 499 graduate students at Engineering School of Shiraz University. The data gathering tool was a questionnaire. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was used to assess its reliability. In this research, the effect of following variables on attitude to the commercialization of Knowledge (ACK) of knowledge is investigated: psychological empowerment (PE), self-efficacy, university policy (UP), social capital (SC), and perceived behavioral al control. The results of this study, based on the obtained correlation coefficients, show that the intention to the commercialization of Knowledge (ICK) has a separate and significant relation with PE, perceived behavioral control (PBC) and ACK at the level of 0.01 and with the SC variable at the level of 0.05. Furthermore, the ICK has no significant relationship with self-efficacy and UP

Aflatoxins in roasted peanut in Khartoum a hidden and notorious risk to children

Aflatoxins are secondary metabolites of about twenty species of the genus Aspergillus. The most important of these species is Aspergillus flavus which was reported for the first time and referred as responsible for the X – turkey disease in 1960 in Great Britain which later on named aflatoxicosis. These toxins pose a limitless risk to man and his domestics by causing a number of diseases and carcinomas. However, since the production of these toxins is rather inevitable accordingly an interdisciplinary management is the answer for managing them. The management of these toxins includes preharvest and postharvest measures such as good agricultural practices (GAP), check of imports, exports, food and feed stuffs, specifying tolerable and action limits and curing by suitable methods. This experiment aimed at having a rapid check for the total aflatoxins in roasted peanut in samples (five groups and 25 in total) collected from the three main cities of the triangular capital Khartoum (Khartoum proper, Khartoum North and Omdurman).Rapid check of aflatoxins has a lot of merits and edge over the other laboratory methods. Twenty five samples of roasted peanut were checked using Aflacheck® test kids (the method used enabled checking 10 ppb total aflatoxins in test samples). Readings revealed that the contamination percentage was 60% for each of the sample groups collected from the two sites in Khartoum proper and 100% for the sample groups collected from two sites in Khartoum north and Omdurman, separately. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference in contamination (at 5% confidence level) between the results from Khartoum proper from one side and the samples collected from Khartoum North and Omdurman areas in the other side. However, the overall contamination percentage was 84%.These results, collectively, are alarming (0 tolerance) fora deadly health risk of this roasted peanut contaminated with aflatoxins to consumers of who the majority are children

A Collaborative Service Discovery and Service Sharing Framework for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

    Get PDF
Abstract. Service sharing and discovery play a relevant role in mobile ad hoc environments. Upon joining a self-organizing network, mobile nodes should be able to explore the environment to learn about, locate, and share the available services. In this paper, we propose a distributed and scalable service discovery and sharing framework for ad hoc networks. The proposed framework defines three types of nodes: service directories, service providers and requesting nodes. Service directory nodes act as mediators for lookup requests from requesting nodes. Joining service provider nodes register their services with the nearest service directory. A requesting node discovers the available services by submitting requests to its nearest service directory which determines the node providing the requesting service. The performance of the proposed model is evaluated and compared to the broadcast-based model that has been extensively studied in the literature

Square-Root parametrization of dark energy in f(Q)f(Q) cosmology

This paper is a parametrization of the equation of state (EoS) parameter of dark energy (DE), which is parameterized using Square-Root (SR) form i.e. \omega _{SR}=\text{\omega _{0}}+\text{\omega _{1}}\frac{z}{\sqrt{z^{2}+1}}, where ω0\omega _{0} and ω1\omega _{1} are free constants. This parametrization will be examined in the context of the recently suggested f(Q)f(Q) gravity theory as an alternative to General Relativity (GR), in which gravitational effects are attributed to the non-metricity scalar QQ with the functional form f(Q)=Q+αQnf(Q)=Q+\alpha Q^{n}, where α\alpha and nn are arbitrary constants. We derived observational constraints on model parameters using the Hubble dataset with 31 data points and the Supernovae (SNe) dataset from the Pantheon samples compilation dataset with 1048 data points. For the current model, the evolution of the deceleration parameter, density parameter, EoS for DE, and Om(z)Om(z) diagnostic have all been investigated. It has been shown that the deceleration parameter favors the current accelerated expansion phase. It has also been shown that the EoS parameter for DE has a quintessence nature at this time.Comment: Communications in Theoretical Physics accepted versio

Back ground: This is a prospective study of Head injury in Najaf. Aim: to study the causes & out come & way of transferring the rat to the hospital & best way to investigate them. Patients & methods:A prospective analytical study of 200 cases of Head injury patients, who were admitted to Saddam Teaching Hospital , in Najaf between 18 t" of November 1996 and 1st of September 1998. Results: All age groups were included in this study, male to female ratio was 4:1 and the highest incidence was seen at the age group below 14 years. The two most common causes of head injury were road traffic accident (RTA)(51 %) and assault (22%),of RTA pedestrians accounted for (87.25%). RTA accounted of (80%) in those with severe head injury. The highest incidence of head injuries in both male and female was between 2pm and 6pm. All patients brought to hospital by personal means, most of them reached the hospital within the first hour of injury. 115 patients (57.5%) were minor head injuries {Glasgow coma scale (11-15)}. Skull x-ray was taken for 185 patients, it was positive for fracture in 48 patients (24%) and negative in 137 (68.5%). There is significant number of patients with negative skull X-ray who need not to be Xrayed. The commonest associated injuries were limb fractures 35% followed by injuries of abdominal viscera 11%. The incidence of operative treatment (10%). The final outcome on discharge was complete recovery in 156 patients (78%) residual neurological deficits in 18 patients (9%), and death in 20 patients (10%), and 6 patients discharged against medical advice. The common cause of head injuries in those who died was RTA 85%& we give recommendation regarding traffic roads & culture of society & policy of investigation

Haji Makpol Bin Saimon is a founder of Kacang Pool Haji, the famous food in Johor Bahru. This food was inspired from Arabic dishes. The menu is prepared to meet the taste of Malaysian citizen especially Malays [1]. The delicious menu makes it famous among the people included VIPs and Singaporean. The ingredient used very simple and easy to dishes [2]. It is only uses “kacang parang” cooked with minced meat and mixed spices that is produced by Haji Makpol and after, prepared with Key Lime (limau purut), egg halved cooks and homemade bread. The bread that has been produced in a day is about 2400 pieces. This machine is gravity fed by the inclined delivery of bread through its blades into the receiving tray for bagging. Moreover, this machine is able to cut loaves bread into 8 pieces with thickness 3.75 cm per bread. There are no machines yet invented to meet the requirement of these breads. These breads are homemade especially for Kacang Pool Haji for his menus

AbstractCardiovascular disease is stabilizing in high-income countries and has continued to rise in low-to-middle-income countries. Association of lipid profile with lipoprotein lipase gene was studied in case and control subject. The family history, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, smoking and alcohol consumption were the most risk factors for early-onset of coronary heart disease (CHD). Sudanese patients had significantly (P<0.05) lower TC and LDL-C levels compared to controls. Allele frequency of LPL D9N, N291S and S447X carrier genotype was 4.2%, 30.7% and 7.1%, respectively. We conclude that lipoprotein lipase polymorphism was not associated with the incidence of CHD in Sudan
