Developing Muslim Communities in The Philippines Through Transformational Leadership: An Islamic Perspective

This research concludes that development of Muslim communities in the Philippinesprimarily relies on local initiatives and people’s assertive character to institute behavioralreform. It entails a transformation process involving all sectors of the society in such a waythat true and committed Muslim leaders will emerge to provide direction and at the same timeorchestrate the development of the communities.It is therefore argued that transformationalleadership is the most appropriate model that could improve the living conditions of Muslimsin the Philippines Firstly, this study provides the empirical evidence that leaders and followersbelieve that it is through Islamic leadership that their communities can be developed. Secondly, thehistory of the leadership of Prophet Mohammad and his four caliphs proved that Islamic leadership isindeed transformational leadership one, hence, they deserve to be emulated by Muslims

The Involvement of State Gov- ernment, Agencies and Local Authority Policies on the Conser- vation of Heritage Spots in Malaysia

This paper is analyzes the local policy implementation by the state authorities at two historical cities, namely Melaka (Malacca) and George Town, Penang. Both cities are awarded as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Or- ganization (UNESCO) World Heritage Sites. One of the most prominent compo- nent of tangible cultural heritage is historic buildings. Thus, it is essential to ensure the sustainability of those buildings so that they will keep attracting more domestic and international travelers. Lack of awareness from the local residents is one main issue arises due to some policies imposed by the local government concerning the historic buildings. This paper is based on previous literature and from findings of a study. The findings were obtained from content analysis of local daily bilingual print newspapers namely The Star and Berita Harian (BH) on the portrayal of cultural heritage in Malaysia. The result of this paper would sheds some light, especially on the conservation of historical buildings to both historical cities through the role of the state government and agencies in imple- menting and enforcing the formulated policies

The Current Characteristics of Entrepreneur among Millennials in The Capital City of Indonesia

Many types of research imply young entrepreneur is different from the other entrepreneur that exist. Recently the millennial generations possess more entrepreneurial potential than the previous generation. Some of the millennials believe that to become an entrepreneur could increase their career level and prosperous future. Interestingly about 50% of financial and technology company founders are the millennials, but it appears that the business world is currently being run by millennials is quite difficult to survive compare with the other that already mature in business. The aim of this paper is to explore the characteristics of entrepreneur among the millennial generations at the capital city in Indonesia. This research has been conducted on a group of 80 millennials in Jakarta as one of the capital and creative cities in Indonesia. The results of this study can be used by millennials who want to become an entrepreneur. Furthermore, this research can be used also as a self-screening to understand their entrepreneurial characteristics, before starting a new business

Relationship of work motivation and participative Leadership with functional employment behavior of education and culture of Bengkulu Province, Indonesia

This study aims to determine the relationship between work motivation and participative leadership with the work behavior of Bengkulu Province Education and Culture Office Functional employees. The selection of Bengkulu Province is one of the provinces whose development and growth is relatively slower compared to other provinces in Sumatra.The research hypotheses proposed are: (1) there is a positive relationship between work motivation and work behavior, (2) there is a positive relationship between participative leadership and work behavior, and (3) there is a positive relationship between work motivation and participative leadership together with work behavior. The population of this research is the employees who are not currently occupying positions (functional staff) at the Office of Education and Culture of Bengkulu Province, in 2018 as many as 75 people, and the sampling technique uses saturated sampling techniques. Based on the results of the study found: (1) there is a positive relationship between work motivation with work behavior. (2) There is a positive relationship between participative leadership and work behavior and (3) there is a positive relationship between work motivation and participatory leadership together with work behavior. From the three findings, it was stated that (1) work behavior can be improved by increasing work motivation by increasing the desire to achieve and increasing a sense of responsibility, and increasing appreciation for the work, and (2) work behavior can be improved by increasing participatory leadership, by how to involve employees in every decision-making, respect the opinions and suggestions of employees, and enhance cooperation

Buku ini mendiskusikan pentingnya semangat membaca kembali konteks keindonesiaan melalui disiplin interpretive social sciences dan cultural studies. Diskusi yang bisa ditelusuri dari awal penulisan adalah bagaimana keresahan penulis ketika memperhatikan kurangnya minat akademisi di bidang ilmu sosial meneliti peristiwa-peristiwa kunci dalam lingkup global atau lokal di Indonesia melalui alat teoretis tersebut. Dalam buku ini, teks lagu hasil karya musisi rock dijadikan instrument intro untuk membuat analisis sosial yang selama ini kurang diminati oleh para ilmuwan sosial di Indonesia. Posisi kreatif musisi seperti halnya aktivis sosial; mereka kerap terlibat dan memberikan kritik bangun melalui olah bunyi musik rock yang selektif dan menggetarkan. Dari cita-rasa tersebut menghasilkan semacam rumusan bahwa konsentrasi diskusi musikal senantiasa beredar di seputar ranah ekonomi, politik, dan gaya hidup. Berbagai potret sosial yang telah menjadi peristiwa penting dianalis sedemikian rupa sehingga muncul semacam hubungan ekstramusikal dan intertekstual di dalam setiap lirik musik rock. Pada masanya, rock adalah salah satu modus kritik bagi kebuntuan dalam seni musik. Ketika bermusik menjadi terlalu rumit, bahkan jauh dari keseimbangan rasio, musik rock tampil dan membawa perbedaan. Dalam bahasa lain, musik rock muncul sebagai 'alien'. suatu totalitas permainan musik yang 'lain'. Dari ke-'lain'-an itulah muncul nergi baru yang memperluas bentang suara bermusik. Ke-'lain'-an itu pula yang membuncahkan kemunculan varian musik rock baru
