Numerical study of radiative Maxwell viscoelastic magnetized flow from a stretching permeable sheet with the Cattaneo–Christov heat flux model
In this article, the Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model is implemented to study non-Fourier heat and mass transfer in the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow of an upper convected Maxwell (UCM) fluid over a permeable stretching sheet under a transverse constant magnetic field. Thermal radiation and chemical reaction effects are also considered. The nonlinear partial differential conservation equations for mass, momentum, energy and species conservation are transformed with appropriate similarity variables into a system of coupled, highly nonlinear ordinary differential equations with appropriate boundary conditions. Numerical solutions have been presented for the influence of elasticity parameter (), magnetic parameter (M2), suction/injection parameter (λ), Prandtl number (Pr), conduction-radiation parameter (Rd), sheet stretching parameter (A), Schmidt number (Sc), chemical reaction parameter (γ_c), modified Deborah number with respect to relaxation time of heat flux (i.e. non-Fourier Deborah number) on velocity components, temperature and concentration profiles using the successive Taylor series linearization method (STSLM) utilizing Chebyshev interpolating polynomials and Gauss-Lobatto collocation. The effects of selected parameters on skin friction coefficient, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are also presented with the help of tables. Verification of the STSLM solutions is achieved with existing published results demonstrating close agreement. Further validation of skin friction coefficient, Nusselt number and Sherwood number values computed with STSLM is included using Mathematica software shooting quadrature

Nonlinear model standardization for the analysis and design of nonlinear systems with multiple equilibria
In engineering practice, a nonlinear system stable about several equilibria is often studied by linearizing the system over a small range of operation around each of these equilibria, and allowing the study of the system using linear system methods. Theoretically, for operations beyond a small range but still within the stable regime of an equilibrium, the system behaves nonlinearly, and can be described and investigated using the Volterra series approach. However, there is still no available approach that can systematically transform the model of a nonlinear system into a form that can be studied over the whole stable regime about an equilibrium so as to facilitate the system study using the Volterra series approach. This transformation is, in the present study, referred to as nonlinear model standardization, which is the extension of the well-known concept of linearization to the nonlinear case. In this paper, a novel approach to nonlinear model standardization is proposed for nonlinear systems that can be described by a Nonlinear AutoRegressive model with eXogeneous input (NARX) or a nonlinear differential equation (NDE) model. The proposed approach is then used in three case studies covering the applications in nonlinear system analysis, nonlinear system design, and nonlinearity compensation, respectively, demonstrating the significance of the proposed nonlinear model standardization in a wide range of engineering practices
Variable Viscosity on Magnetohydrodynamic Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer over an Unsteady Stretching Surface with Hall Effect

The problem of magnetohydrodynamic flow and heat transfer of a viscous, incompressible, and electrically conducting fluid past a semi-infinite unsteady stretching sheet is analyzed numerically. The problem was studied under the effects of Hall currents, variable viscosity, and variable thermal diffusivity. Using a similarity transformation, the governing fundamental equations are approximated by a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The resultant system of ordinary differential equations is then solved numerically by the successive linearization method together with the Chebyshev pseudospectral method. Details of the velocity and temperature fields as well as the local skin friction and the local Nusselt number for various values of the parameters of the problem are presented. It is noted that the axial velocity decreases with increasing the values of the unsteadiness parameter, variable viscosity parameter, or the Hartmann number, while the transverse velocity increases as the Hartmann number increases. Due to increases in thermal diffusivity parameter, temperature is found to increase.</p
