Physical environmental data are collected by observation, and the socio-cultural environmental data are collected by interview. The shape, technic, and supporting instrument of adaptition are studied  descriptively. The difference of adaptation parameter is grouped on several type, sub-type, and varian by typology analyzing. Result of the research are: (1) The tumpang sari planting technic and the agricultural result managing followed the climate condition, (2) The efficience of water consumption is caused by satretaman habit whose unity in the way of live, and (3) They are always survive because has double economic activity. They are as farmer on wet season, and they are as trader on dry season

    The aims of this study are: (1). Introducing how to use Dartfish program on measuring skill development, (2). Measuring the quantitatively child motor learning development on short serve on playing badminton. (3). Find out the level of skill on short serve, of the badminton players, of 10 – 13th years old . Nine amateur badminton players were filmed before and after feedback to find out the level of skill motor learning development on short serve. The short serve was analyzed because of its importance to success in badminton. Each subject was filmed at 50 frames per second hitting 5 short serves. Feedback was given three times in a week and treated directly. The difference treatment for the experimental group (B group) badminton's players, was invited to have discussion and suggestion by either coach or researcher based on note and coach also researcher observation by naked eye, but the second experimental (C group) to have discussion and suggestion by either coach or researcher based on note and coach also researcher observation by using recording (nonconventional feedback). The result shows that their skill development of the badminton players on short serve are still low, although they have been train 3 times a week on technique exercise

    N. WULIJARNI - SOETJIPTO, 1985. Effect of desiccation and storage temperature on the viability of seeds of Citrus amblycarpa. Berita Biologi 3 (3): 95- 100. Seeds of Citrus amblycarpa (Hassk.) Ochse were dried using several methods. The seeds remained fully viable when the moisture content were reduced to around 5%. Upon storage, those seeds stored at 28°, 10° and 4°C were still viable after 287 days. Further observation showed that storage at 10°, 4° and - 10°C enabled seeds to maintain their germination until the end of the experiment, i.e. 910 days. Therefore, it is concluded that C.amblycarpa seeds tend to follow the behaviour of the orthodox seeds

    Dari hasil penelitiannya mengenai marga Dolichos L. dan kerabatnya dari Aftika timur. Verdcourt (1970b) telah memisahkan Dolichos lablab L. dan Dolichos uniflorus Lam. dari margaDolichos dan menempatkannya berturut-turut dalam marga Lab-lab Adans. dan Macrotyloma (Wight & Arn.) Verde. Sebagai konsekuensinya D. lahlab diganti namanya menjadi Lablab purpureus (L.) Sweet dan merupakan jenis tipe marga Lablab yang hanya terdiri atas satu jenis, sedang D. uniflorus menjadi Macrotyloma uniflorum (Lam.) Verde, dan merupakan tipe marga Macrotyloma. Pemisahan kedua jenis ini dari marga Dolichos didasarkan terutama pada adanya perbedaan dalam sifat-sifat putik, serbuk sari serta kromosomnya (Tabel 1)

Effect of drying and storage temperature on the viability of kemuning(Murraya panicuhta) seeds, Berita Biologi 3(8): 424 - 429.Seeds of kemuning {Murraya paniculata (L.) Jack) were dried under room temperature (28°±2°C),and then stored for a duration of 9 weeks at 28°, 10°, 4° and - 10°C. The seeds remained fully viable when the moisture content was reduced to 5%. After storage at 10° or 4°C the seeds having 5% moisture content remained almost fully viable.Their viability decreased to around 60% at - 10°C, and less than 40% at 28°C.Seeds having higher moisture contents still maintained their viability after being stored at 10°C. However, they lost their viability when stored at higher or lower temperatures.It appeared that the seeds contained much higher percentage of saturated fatty acids compared with the unsaturated fatty adds. It is concluded that the kemuning seeds do not tend to follow the behaviour of true orthodox seeds,since they do not seem to withstand subfreezing temperature although they may toleratev drying

    The Effect of Tomato Juice in Increasing Ki-67 Expression and Epithelial Thickness on The Vaginal Wall of Menopausal Rats

    BACKGROUND: Dyspareunia and pain due to the decrease of vaginal wall thickness usually happen in menopausal women. The reduction of estrogen levels cause the decreasing of cell proliferation and the thinning of vaginal wall epithelium. Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is a source of phytoestrogens, which produce estrogenic effects. This study aims to assess the effect of tomato juice on Ki-67 expression and epithelial thickness of the vaginal wall in menopausal rats.METHODS: This was an experimental study using Sprague-Dawley rats. Twenty-four female rats, aged 4 months and weighing 150-200 grams, were divided into 4 groups. Each group consisted of 6 rats. Negative control (NC) group was group of rats with sham procedure and performed by distilled water for 28 days. Positive control (PC) group was group of bilateral ovariectomized rats and performed by distilled water for 28 days. The first treatment (T1) group was group of bilateral ovariectomized rats, given tomato juice at dose of 11g/200g body weight (BW)/day. The second treatment (T2) group was group of bilateral ovariectomized rats, given tomato juice at dose of 15g/200g BW/day. Data analysis was done with Anova, multiple comparisons and regression test.RESULTS: The group with lowest Ki-67 expression was PC group (2.52±0.60). The expression of Ki-67 in treatment groups (T1 and T2) was higher than PC group, but lower than NC group. There was no significant difference between groups (p=0.771). The lowest epithelial thickness was found in PC group (21.19±3.96) and the highest was found in the treatment groups (38.73±12.43). There was positive correlation between tomato juice and epithelial thickness (p=0.647).CONCLUSION: Tomato juice increases Ki-67 expression and epithelial thickness on the vaginal wall of menopausal rats. The increase of epithelial thickness follows the administration dose, but Ki-67 expression does not exceed in the control rats. Tomato juice increases the cell proliferation of vaginal wall on menopausal rats, however the increase is still within normal limits.KEYWORDS: epithelial thickness, Ki-67, menopause, tomato juic

    Antibacterial Properties of Essential Oil in Some Indonesian Herbs

    The antibacterial activity of essential oil of five Indonesian herbs has been studied. The essential oil produced from different parts of plants (lime, lemon, Surinam cherry, fennel, and toothache plants) were extracted by water steam or hydro distillation and then examined by GCMS. The antibacterial activities of the essential oils were determined by measuring MIC (minimum inhibitory concentration), whereas some bacterial strains were used in this study such as follows: Staphylococcus aureus FNCC 0047, Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6051, B. cereus FNCC 0057, Escherichia coli IFO 0091, Pseudomonas cepacia FNCC 0063, and P. aeruginosa FNCC 0063, respectively. All the five samples used in this experiment have antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Gram-negative bacteria appear more resistant than Gram-positive bacteria. By using MIC measurement the Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria showed different sensitivities toward essential oils. Among the material study, the essential oil of Eugenia uniflora L (Surinam cherry) showed the highest antibacterial activity

    An experiment to study the effect of plant density and foliar fertilizer on the growth of Dendrobium hybride seedling was done at Sekip, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Some bottle cultured Dendrobium orchid cultivar Dendrobium \u27Spellbound\u27 x D. phalaenopsis alba was transplanted into 9 cm diameter pots filled with charcoal and Alsophylla fibers. The planting densities per pot was 10, 20 and 30 and foliar fertilization was treated with concentrations 0,00 m1/1, 0,25 m1/1 and 0,50 m1/1. The pots were arranged in Factorial Completely Randomized Design with 2 factors : foliar fertilizer and plant density. Data collected include : the length (height) of seedlings, the width and length of foliage leaves, number of foliage leaves, number of shoots, diameter of pseudo-bulbs, fresh weight of seedling within seven month period after transplanting. It was observed that plant density of 30 plants per pot and 0,5 m1/I foliar fertilizer had the best result. Percobaan umuk meneliti pengaruh kerapatan tanam bibit anggrek hibrida Dendrobium yang di tanam dalam suatu pot (community pot) dan kadar pupuk daun terhadap pertumbuhan telah dilakukan di Sekip, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Suatu Kultivar Dendrobium "Spellbound\u27 x D. phalaenopsis alba dari botol penyemai telah dipindah tanamkan ke pot dengan diameter 9 cm yang di isi dengan arang kayu dengan cincangan akar pakis Alsophylla. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap faktorial dengan 2 faktor yaitu pupuk daun dan kerapatan tanam. Pupuk daun terdiri atas tiga macam kadar yaitu 0,5 m1/1, 0,25 m1/1 dan 0,00 m1/1. Sedangkan kerapatan tanam terdiri atas tiga aras yaitu 30, 20 dan 10 tanaman tiap pot. Dari kedua faktor tersebut didapatkan 9 kombinasi perlakuan, masing-masing perlakuan terdiri atas 4 ulangan
