Penurunan Viabilitas Benih Padi (Oryza Sativa L.) melalui Beberapa Metode Pengusangan Cepat
Availability of seed lots with different viabilities is very important as the material for invigoration studies. Acceleratedor rapid aging methods is expected to serve seeds with different viabilities for those studies. The objective of this study was toobtain efficient seeds rapid aging method of rice seeds. The study consisted of three experiments i.e. rapid aging with ethanolgas, soaking seed in liquid ethanol (96%) and exposing seeds to 41 oC temperature and ± 100% relative humidity. Eachexperiment was arranged in a randomized block design with single factor that was length of aging with three replications. There were eight rice varieties used in this study, i. e. three varieties of upland rice, two verieties of lowland rice, and threevarieties of swamp rice. The results showed that the physical aging method could not produce reliable data due to fungusinfection on the treated seed. It was found that generally 60% and 50% viabilities of rice seed could be obtain by ethanol gastreatment for 4.9 and 5.3 hours, as well as by liquid ethanol for 4.0 and 4.4 minutes, respectively. Rapid aging method withliquid ethanol was the fastest and simplest method for decreasing seed viability of rice
BV equivalence with boundary
An extension of the notion of classical equivalence of equivalence in the BatalinâVilkovisky (BV) and BatalinâFradkinâVilkovisky (BFV) frameworks for local Lagrangian field theory on manifolds possibly with boundary is discussed. Equivalence is phrased in both a strict and a lax sense, distinguished by the compatibility between the BV data for a field theory and its boundary BFV data, necessary for quantisation. In this context, the first- and second-order formulations of nonabelian YangâMills and of classical mechanics on curved backgrounds, all of which admit a strict BVâBFV description, are shown to be pairwise equivalent as strict BVâBFV theories. This in particular implies that their BV complexes are quasi-isomorphic. Furthermore, Jacobi theory and one-dimensional gravity coupled with scalar matter are compared as classically equivalent reparametrisation-invariant versions of classical mechanics, but such that only the latter admits a strict BVâBFV formulation. They are shown to be equivalent as lax BVâBFV theories and to have isomorphic BV cohomologies. This shows that strict BVâBFV equivalence is a strictly finer notion of equivalence of theories
What Has Changed During the COVID-19 Pandemic? - The Effect on an Academic Breast Department in Portugal
Introduction: One year ago, Portugal entered its first lockdown because of the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The impact of this on delays in cancer diagnosis and treatment is a major concern, which may negatively affect the outcomes of these patients.
Materials and methods: This retrospective, single-center analysis compared the clinical and pathological characteristics of breast cancer (BC) patients referred to a medical oncology first appointment between March 2020 and 2021, with the same period in the previous year.
Results: Strikingly, there was a 40% reduction in the number of BC patients during lockdown. However, there was a statistically significant increase in the proportion of metastatic BC patients admitted for the first time for systemic therapy (13.6% vs. 28.9%, p = 0.003). Additionally, a statistically significant increase in the number of patients with bilateral early BC at diagnosis after March 2020 was found (7.2% vs. 1.9%, p = 0.043).
Conclusion: These findings support international recommendations for an accelerated restoration of BC screening, to reduce incidence of advanced breast cancer at diagnosis and mitigate the expected impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on patients with cancer. Further work is needed to examine in detail the impact of measures to manage the COVID-19 pandemic on breast cancer outcomes.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Distinguishing sequences for partially specified FSMs
Distinguishing Sequences (DSs) are used inmany Finite State Machine (FSM) based test techniques. Although Partially Specified FSMs (PSFSMs) generalise FSMs, the computational complexity of constructing Adaptive and Preset DSs (ADSs/PDSs) for PSFSMs has not been addressed. This paper shows that it is possible to check the existence of an ADS in polynomial time but the corresponding problem for PDSs is PSPACE-complete. We also report on the results of experiments with benchmarks and over 8 * 106 PSFSMs. © 2014 Springer International Publishing

A Simplified Cellular Automaton Model for City Traffic
We systematically investigate the effect of blockage sites in a cellular
automaton model for traffic flow. Different scheduling schemes for the blockage
sites are considered. None of them returns a linear relationship between the
fraction of ``green'' time and the throughput. We use this information for a
fast implementation of traffic in Dallas.Comment: 12 pages, 18 figures. submitted to Phys Rev

Inhibition of skeletal muscle S1-myosin ATPase by peroxynitrite
Exposure of myosin subfragment 1 (S1) to 3-morpholinosydnonimine (SIN-1) produced a
time-dependent inhibition of the F-actin-stimulated S1 Mg2+-ATPase activity, reaching 50% inhibition with 46.7 ( 8.3 ĂM SIN-1 for 8.7 ĂM S1, that is, at a SIN-1/S1 molar ratio of approximately 5.5. The
inhibition was due to the peroxynitrite produced by SIN-1 decomposition because (1) decomposed SIN-1 was found to have no effect on S1 ATPase activity, (2) addition of SIN-1 in the presence of superoxide dismutase and catalase fully prevented inhibition by SIN-1, and (3) micromolar pulses of chemically
synthesized peroxynitrite produced inhibition of F-actin-stimulated S1 Mg2+-ATPase activity. In parallel, SIN-1 produced the inhibition of the nonphysiological Ca2+-dependent and K+/EDTA-dependent S1 ATPase
activity of S1 and, therefore, suggested that the inhibition of F-actin-stimulated S1 Mg2+-ATPase activity is produced by the oxidation of highly reactive cysteines of S1 (Cys707 and Cys697), located close to the
catalytic center. This point was further confirmed by the titration of S1 cysteines with 5,5Âą-dithiobis(2- nitrobenzoic acid) and by the parallel decrease of Cys707 labeling by 5-(iodoacetamido)fluorescein, and it was reinforced by the fact that other common protein modifications produced by peroxynitrite, for example, protein carbonyl and nitrotyrosine formation, were barely detected at the concentrations of SIN-1 that
produced more than 50% inhibition of the F-actin-stimulated S1 Mg2+-ATPase activity. Differential scanning calorimetry of S1 (untreated and treated with different SIN-1 concentrations) pointed out that
SIN-1, at concentrations that generate micromolar peroxynitrite fluxes, impaired the ability of ADPĂąV1 to induce the intermediate catalytic transition state and also produced the partial unfolding of S1 that leads to an enhanced susceptibility of S1 to trypsin digestion, which can be fully protected by 2 mM GSH
