In this work it is studied the Schr\"odinger equation for a non-relativistic particle restricted to move on a surface SS in a three-dimensional Minkowskian medium R13\mathbb{R}_1^3, i.e., the space R3\mathbb{R}^3 equipped with the metric diag(1,1,1)\text{diag}(-1,1,1). After establishing the consistency of the interpretative postulates for the new Schr\"odinger equation, namely the conservation of probability and the hermiticity of the new Hamiltonian built out of the Laplacian in R13\mathbb{R}_1^3, we investigate the confining potential formalism in the new effective geometry. Like in the well-known Euclidean case, it is found a geometry-induced potential acting on the dynamics VS=22m(εH2K)V_S = - \frac{\hbar^{2}}{2m} \left(\varepsilon H^2-K\right) which, besides the usual dependence on the mean (HH) and Gaussian (KK) curvatures of the surface, has the remarkable feature of a dependence on the signature of the induced metric of the surface: ε=+1\varepsilon= +1 if the signature is (,+)(-,+), and ε=1\varepsilon=1 if the signature is (+,+)(+,+). Applications to surfaces of revolution in R13\mathbb{R}^3_1 are examined, and we provide examples where the Schr\"odinger equation is exactly solvable. It is hoped that our formalism will prove useful in the modeling of novel materials such as hyperbolic metamaterials, which are characterized by a hyperbolic dispersion relation, in contrast to the usual spherical (elliptic) dispersion typically found in conventional materials.Comment: 26 pages, 1 figure; comments are welcom

In such scenarios, bodies place themselves in resistance to heteronormative stratifcations and norms, opening space for the invention of policies/ ethics/aesthetics that extend life to its potentialities. Such discussion will take place through the lines that intersect between Psychology, Sexualities, Genders, Desires and Cinema, and will present problematizations and propositions from the analysis of the short flm "I don’t want to go back alone", screened at the 18th edition of the Mix BrasilLGBT Film Festival - Cinema, Teater, Music and Literature. In this sense, we propose to glimpse the connections and articulations of speeches, uterances, images, sounds, lights, silences, techniques, etc., that forge existential territories that force thought to think from the logic of sensations, not representations

The main objective of this paper is to present the interface design concept of Inspædia focused on the userexperience, to create knowledge in innovation and design and to facilitate collaborative intelligence. We considerinnovation in the disciplinary context of the design to inspire new design processes and to expand and diversify theframe of references in order to stimulate ideation in design, as well as to offer to the inspædiers a stimulatinginteraction and knowledge experience. Whereas Inspædia is malleable enough to inspire and operating a network ofcollaborative intelligence in the areas of innovation and design - the results achieved are a significant contribution toknowledge in design and (hopefully) to the science of design (since not all knowledge is science).Research Centre for Territory, Architecture and Design - CITAD Faculty of Architecture and Arts, Lusíada University of Lisbon. Insights on Spectrum Sharing in Heterogeneous Networks with Small Cells

    Get PDF
This work explores the viability of 5G New Radio spectrum sharing in Ultra High Frequency (UHF), Super High Frequency (SHF) and millimetre wavebands(mmWaves) in outdoor environments. In the mmWaves the linear cellular topology is considered while in the UHF/SHF bands cells with hexagonal shape are assumed. Performance evaluation includes the study of the behaviour of PHY and supported throughput for 2.6, 3.5, 28, 38, 60 and 73 GHz. While the two-slope model is considered for the 2.6 and 3.5 GHz frequency bands, the modified Friis propagation model, with shadow fading, and different values for the standard deviation, is the considered in the millimeter wavebands. With sharing, lower system capacity is supported. We clearly observe that, for coverage distances up to circa 100 m, the supported throughput is higher at the millimetre wavebands, mainly due to the reduction that characterizes the application of the two-slope propagation model at the UHF/SHF bands.Bolsa BID/ICI-FE/Santander Universidades-UBI/2016info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

This essay aims to study the Municipal Educational Project (PEM), trying to describe, understand and analyze its genesis and development in 16 city councils of Porto Metropolitan Area. The PEM are new tools of municipal governance of education and try to be unifying references of the action of the wider community, enabling populations an educational offer according to their needs and characteristics. The PEM aim to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the community / region, and therefore draw lines of action to overcome the difficulties observed, thus enhancing, promoting and appraising the positive aspects of these communities / regions. In PEM construction process it was taken into account the principles and ideals underlying the Charter of Educating Cities. The Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Porto (UCP) has been the strategic partner and supervisor of the entire construction process, involvement and development of the various PEMs, for this reason a technical team was created with UCP counsellors. In the process of building the PEM there were involved multidisciplinary and cross teams, UCP, city councils, local education partners and representative elements with educational responsibilities of the local community. The investigator tried to understand the experiences trialed by the technical team and their perspectives throughout the PEM process. A set of issues around the PEM were formulated, resulting in an overall script, from which semi-structured interviews were conducted to the technical team of the UCP. With data collected from interviews and through qualitative methodological processes, it was possible to carry out a critical assessment that would allow us to find the lines of action, similar or different, that marked the PEM construction process from the angles of the consultants. It was concluded that the PEM is an important tool for the definition of local educational policies, because it reflects a municipal educational strategy, although many find difficulties in its implementation. The PEM grants citizens the possibility of a broad and democratic participation in defining education policies. However, despite the established synergies, there is a lack of civic participation, resulting in a reduced collaborative work on finding solutions that are appropriated to the communities to which they belong

This paper intends to combine the relationship between photography and art, through the photographic work of American photographer Francesca Woodman (1958-1981). The analysis parameter will focus on Woodman's contribution to the discussions about photography as a medium, in particular, issues concerning the representation, thus, we seek to demonstrate how Woodman questioned photography precepts of her time and presented clues to the construction of a new photographic language more linked to art and its inventive power
