    "Mundu" is common name for one of the member of Clusiaceae family (manggis-manggisan).In scientific writing it is sometimes called Garcinia xanthochymus Hook.f. or G. dulcis (Roxb.)Kurz. To determine the correct name for these two kinds of plant a study was conducted to review its taxonomic status.     The Plant Species Diversity of Lasitae Protected Nature Forest and Nearby Area, District of Barru, South Sulawesi

    An expedition to Lasitae Protected Forest in District of Barru, South Sulawesi was undertaken to collect living plants for Pucak Botanic Garden, South Sulawesi. The aims were to investigate the diversity of the plants and as a dedication to the Expedition of the Republic of Indonesia Corridor Sulawesi. Using an explorative method, we collected the plants and recorded all data in the field following the tracks assisted by the field guide. A total of 179 collection-numbers have been collected from this dry lowland forest including the data for the local names. Many potential and valuable plants occur in the forest, 13 plants were highlighted in this paper for its conservation status, the potentiality for various purposes or its uniqueness: Diospyros celebica Bakh. or streak ebony (Ebenaceae), Arenga pinnata (Wurmb.) Merr. (Arecaceae), Phyllanthus lamprophyllus Mull.Arg. (Phyllanthaceae), Cycas rumphii Miq. (Cycadaceae), Lagerstroemia speciosa (L.) Pers. (Lythraceae), Garcinia celebica L. (Clusiaceae), Nervilia aragoana Gaud. (Orchidaceae), Phalaenopsis amabilis (L.) Blume (Orchidaceae), Ophioglossum reticulatum L. (Ophioglossaceae), Tetracera scandens (L.) Merr. (Dilleniaceae), Derris trifoliata Lour., Phytocrene bracteata Wall. (Icacinaceae), and Dioscorea hispida Dennst. Buchanania arborescens (Blume) Blume and Ardisia elliptica Thunb. can easily be found and widely spread

    Based on molecular phylogenetic analysis and an assessment of fruit and pollen characters, the transfer of Septogarcinia sumbawaensis Kosterm., endemic to Sumbawa Island, Indonesia and the sole member of the genus Septogarcinia, to Garcinia is strongly supported. The formal transfer of S. sumbawaensis to Garcinia (as G. sumbawaensis; the current name is G. septogarcinia) was based on morphological studies only. Phylogenetic analysis of nuclear internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences supports a placement of G. septogarcinia in Garcinia Section Brindonia. The distinctive dehiscent fruit, cited by Kostermans as justification for erecting Septogarcinia, is interpreted as an autapomorphy for this species in Garcinia. Pollen exine ornamentation is similar to G. griffithii, G. gummigutta var. gummi-gutta, G. mestonii, Garcinia sp. (Maluku) and Garcinia sp. (Batulanteh, Sumbawa)

Rafflesia hasseltii Suringar flower has been observed for the first time in Sambas District, West Kalimantan by the Flora Fauna Research Team during the Khatulistiwa Expedition organized by Special Forces Command of Indonesian Army in 2012. This finding is the first record of Rafflesia hasseltii in Kalimantan following the previous record in Sarawak. The flower has 5?6 perigone lobes.     Pellacalyx is one of the genera in Rhizophoraceae, distributed from Myanmar, South China, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. In Indonesia, Pellacalyx can be found in the island of Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi. Eight species of Pellacalyx have been found  in Indonesia, four of which them were from Kalimantan, i.e. P. axillaris, P. cristatus, P. lobbii and P. symphiodiscus. These four species generally grow in the primary and secondary forest, from lowland to an altitude of 1300 m above sea level. Information of Pellacalyx in Indonesia is still very limited , and rarely found in the wild. The last information of Pellacalyx found in West Sumatra was reported by an expedition team of the Center for Plant Conservation Bogor Botanical Garden in 2006.  The Expert Team of the Khatulistiwa Expedition in Long Bagun, West Kutai, East Kalimantan on May 26–June 2, 2012 found a species of Pellacalyx. Morphological characterization was then conducted based on the herbarium specimen for identification. The identification was carried out in Bogor Botanic Gardens, Center for Biological Research, Indonesian Institute of Sciences and The National Herbarium Leiden, Netherland. The results show that Pellacalyx specimen from Long Bagun is Pellacalyx symphiodiscus.
