Podridão do colo (Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc.) em pimenta salada ou pimenta doce (Capsicum annum) no Estado do Amapá.

A cultura da pimenta salada é uma importante fonte de renda para o agricultor amapaense. É também conhecida como pimenta do cheiro ou pimenta doce, no Amapá. Em levantamentos efetuados nos diversos municípios do estado, através de um projeto em parceria entre o Centro de Pesquisa Agroflorestal do Amapá - Embrapa Amapá e o Instituto de Pesquisa Florestal do Amapá, verificou-se a ocorrência de um fungo de solo (Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc.) que ocasiona a murcha de plantas de pimenta salada, descrito pela primeira vez por Rolfs, em 1892, em tomateiros na Flórida, Estados Unidos e segundo Moraes (1982), tal fungo apresenta uma maior distribuição em regiões tropicais e subtropicais, onde a alta temperatura prevalece durante as estações chuvosas.bitstream/item/97385/1/CPAF-AP-2002-Podridao-colo.pd

The house of the little tooth Diniz : an oral health educational project

Dental caries is currently one of the major public health problems, given its high incidence among 6-12-year-old children. This age group of children is considered a priority group, due to the transitional period of the replacement of deciduous teeth. This article intends to present a ludic-pedagogical instrument for oral health education, targeted at these children, based on the learning of problems related to oral health through a story narrative and associated pictograms. By means of a health education manual with several pictorial representations of dentistry clinical acts, we intended to imagetically reinforce the therapeutic adherence of children to Paediatric Dentistry as well as oral health prevention care, which are considered determinant factors for oral health success amongst children. The choice of a handbook format for this purpose was considered a health education pedagogical strategy with added value to the Paediatric Dentistry appointment setting, granting patients an active and leading role in their therapeutic path. Effect of an extract of Centella asiatica on the biodistribution of sodium pertechnetate (Na^99mTcO₄) and on the fixation of radioactivity on blood constituents

This study evaluates the effects of an acute treatment with a Centella asiatica (CA) extract on the biodistribution of the radiopharmaceutical Na99mTcO4 and on the fixation of technetium-99m on blood constituents. Wistar rats were treated with CA extract and, 1 hour after, Na99mTcO4 was administered; organs/tissues were withdrawn and weighted. The radioactivity was counted to calculate the percentage of activity per gram (%ATI/g). Also, blood samples were withdrawn, plasma (P), blood cells (BC), insoluble fraction (IF) and soluble fractions of P and BC were isolated and the radioactivity was counted to calculate the percentage of activity (%ATI). Data indicated that the acute treatment with CA extract changed significantly (p99mTcO4 and the fixation of the technetium-99m on blood constituents in an acute treatment

Molecular biology can be outstanding tool in the selection of probiotic candidates, based on the detection of genetic factors related to the beneficial properties of studied lactic acid bacteria (LAB). Surface proteins with mucus-binding capacity mediate the adherence of LAB to the intestine and are desirable feature for probiotic bacteria, as they can increase persistence and ability of LAB to colonize the intestine.
