The Medicinal use of Garlic is not new to the world today. Garlic plays important role in daily diet and also helps in maintaining good health thats why it is widely suggested by physicians. Lasuna is a most potent herb used in many conditions mainly used as a Rasayana in Vatavyadhi, Amavata etc. The essential chemical components of Garlic are helpful in daily routine for making physic fit and it acts over Hypercholesterolemia. The wide range of Garlic, health benefits come mainly from its main ingredient, Allicine. This widely researched component of garlic is highly therapeutic and is used in various drugs and pharmaceutics. Many Acharyas used this potent herb in many formulations like Lashoonadi vati, Lashoona ksheera paka etc. Rejuvenation therapy enhances the energy and the person's mental and physical capabilities. A number of studies suggest that rejuvenation therapy is effective in improving the skin complexion, texture, in modulating the voice and in increasing the sensing capacity of the sense organs. Rasayana is that which provides optimum quality of the bodily tissues due to which it provides both mental and physical health, prevents ageing and disease, thus enables to live for a longer period of youthfulness. In current article importance of Garlic is shown as Rasyana, as its indication and properties of Garlic as per Ayurveda suggest its work as Rasayana

Three million ago of the south Asian region, India had his own traditional system of medicine which known as Ayurveda. It explains the Rasa, Guna, Virya, and Vipaka of the Dravyas (Medicinal as well as food materials). It gives us some unique concepts to take the food (Asta ahar vidhi Visheshayatana) and its effect on body and mind. Ayurveda is science of wellness which primarily deals in food and behavioural aspects. Food and psychology has a good relation in Ayurveda. Emotions and psychological state has a very profound role in the proper digestion and metabolism of food. Ayurveda explains different psychological and emotional state of digestion, and establishment of ground rule that we should have food with psychological relaxation without any mental disturbance. As well as impact of occupational stress and weight conscious diet on digestion according to modern medical science is discussed. Ayurveda already have many references in many places of different Samhitas especially in Charak, Sushrut and Astang. They clearly told that we have to follow the rules of Asht-Aharvidhi Visheshayatana and they coded that, food has his own properties which helps to enhance the physical factors as well as mental factors of the body. Balanced food habits complete the both Prayojana of the Ayurveda which is “Swasthasya Swastha Rakshanam and Aturasya Vikara Prashamanm Cha”. Emotional status of the person at the food taking time also plays an important role of its digestion and metabolism in the body. A big question arise here that whether first psychology effect in digestion of food or food affecting the psychology of the person

Due to increasing rate of cardiac disorders in developed and developing countries Continuous on body monitoring of ECG signal using the concept of IoT and Body Sensor Network has become the necessity. In this work we are proposing a novel low complex, low power algorithm and architecturefor E.C.G. classification which can be incorporated in present era of IOT and Body Sensor Network. Rather than going for Artificial Intelligence based pattern matching and complex DSP algorithm we have used the simplicity of Hurst exponent and Haar wavelet for filtering out anomalous E.C.G. signals and normal ones

Memex: a browsing assistant for collaborative archiving and mining of surf trails

Keyword indices, topic directories and link-based rankings are used to search and structure the rapidly growing Web today. Surprisingly little use is made of years of browsing experience of millions of people. Indeed, this information is routinely discarded by browsers. Even deliberate bookmarks are stored in a passive and isolated manner. All this goes against Vannevar Bush’s dream of the Memex: An enhanced supplement to personal and community memory. We propose to demonstrate the beginnings of a ‘Memex’ for the Web: A browsing assistant for individuals and groups with focused interests. Memex blurs the artificial distinction between browsing history and deliberate bookmarks. The resulting glut of data is analyzed in a number of ways at the individual and community levels. Memex constructs a topic directory customized to the community, mapping their interests naturally to nodes in this directory. This lets the user recall topic-based browsing contexts by asking questions like “What trails was I following when I was last surfing about classical music?” and “What are some popular pages in or near my community’s recent trail graph related to music?

Short term results of endoscopic discectomy in lumbar spine

A recent modification to lumbar discectomy involves the use of a micro-endoscope instead of an operating microscope for visualization. Percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD) uses a rigid operating spinal endoscope that allows direct visualization and excision of contained and non-contained herniated disc fragments. The advantages of Endoscopic lumbar discectomy are remarkable due to minimal bone resection, no damage to paravertebral muscles, rapid recovery, minimally procedure related morbidity, cost-effectiveness and high patient satisfaction rate. Aims and objectives is to study and evaluate clinical and radiological outcomes of endoscopic lumbar discectomy over a period of 6 months.24 patients underwent endoscopic lumbar discectomy proven with MRI in a span of 3 years from 2018 to 2021. Every patient was followed up for 6 months in an observational, retrospective and prospective type of study and assessed on the basis of MacNab criteria, VAS pain score, Oswestry low back pain questionnaire. Mean preoperative Oswestry disability score (ODS) was 74.38 while mean postoperative ODS was found to be 29.25. Preoperative, while analyzing through Macnab criteria, poor results were seen in 95.83% of patients while fair results were seen in 4.17% of patients. Postoperatively excellent results were seen in 16.67% of patients while good results were seen in 83.34% of patients. Mean preoperative VAS was 7.33 while mean postoperative VAS was found to be 2.91. Endoscopic discectomy is a safe and effective procedure where patient satisfaction and pain relief are not compromised. It may be an effective and alternative treatment option for the upward migration of disc herniation in the upper lumbar area and offers additional advantage for early mobilization and faster improvement

New classification of S1 pedicle morphometry impacting pedicle screw insertion technique

Background: The conventional entry point for the S1 pedicle screw insertion has been described as ‘at the base of and lateral to the superior S1 superior facet’. However, many orthopaedic surgeons complain that this technique is extremely demanding and is faced with many challenges in execution. Therefore, alternative entry points and modifications of existing techniques are explored for a greater convenience. Methods: We conducted a survey amongst 136 spine surgeons on the technical difficulties faced during insertion of the S1 pedicle screw. We also classified the S1 pedicles based by measuring their geometric parameters on 100 random computed tomography (CT) images. Results: The S1 pedicle entry technique was considered to be the most difficult and challenging by the orthopaedic surgeons in our survey due to an inadequate medial angulation due to paraspinal muscle mass tension and an overhanging iliac crest. This could be explained by the hourglass shaped pedicle (type 3) with a desired medial angle more 50 degrees (type III) observed as the most common S1 pedicle in the study population. To overcome this limitation, most of them preferred a tri-corticate approach. Conclusions: A more lateral entry point and a longer screw might be considered as solutions for a better and safer S1 pedicle entry. Also, the use of pre-operative CT can be considered to visualize the type of S1 pedicle and hence, decide on the most appropriate technique of screw insertion.

Background: Computer Assisted Learning (CAL) for teaching experimental pharmacology is now widely accepted as alternative to animal experiments. The objective of this study was to compare the performance of undergraduate medical students by conventional teaching methods (lecture and discussion) and CAL.Methods: This was a questionnaire based observational study involving 109 MBBS students of fifth semester. The students were taught experimental pharmacology practical by both conventional methods (lecture with discussion) and computer assisted learning (CAL). Questionnaire and their filled responses by these students were taken at the end of lecture-discussion (pre-CAL) and after the CAL experiments (post-CAL), covering the same topics of experimental pharmacology. Pre-CAL and post-CAL data were assessed statistically. Results: In the pre-CAL session, only 53.39%, 47.56%, 53.39% and 49.5% of the students were having the scores above 40% in the rabbit eye, DRC and potentiation, frog heart and dog BP experiment respectively, which was increased to 77.44%, 75.48%, 75.47% and 75.48% of the students respectively in the post-CAL assessment. A statistically significant difference (p <0.05) in the performance was observed among the students in the pre-CAL and post-CAL assessment. Conclusions: CAL is a good alternative to animal experimentation. Lecture with discussion, followed by CAL experiments on the same topics, enhanced the performance of students as shown by improvement in post-CAL scores
