Gravitational Wave Spectrum in Inflation with Nonclassical States
The initial quantum state during inflation may evolve to a highly squeezed
quantum state due to the amplification of the time-dependent parameter,
, which may be the modified dispersion relation in
trans-Planckian physics. This squeezed quantum state is a nonclassical state
that has no counterpart in the classical theory. We have considered the
nonclassical states such as squeezed, squeezed coherent, and squeezed thermal
states, and calculated the power spectrum of the gravitational wave

Potensi antivirus daripada ekstrak fermentasi daun nangka (Artocarpus heterophyllus) terhadap virus herpes simpleks jenis 1 (HSV-1)
Kewujudan virus rintang dadah dan mutasi virus baharu telah mendorong saintis untuk mengkaji terapi alternatif berasaskan produk semula jadi yang kaya dengan sumber bioaktif untuk merawat dan mengurangkan simptom jangkitan dengan lebih cekap. Dalam kajian ini, daun nangka telah difermentasi (JL) menggunakan kultur simbiotik gabungan bakteria asid asetik dan yis untuk menghasilkan ekstrak yang berpotensi sebagai agen antivirus terhadap virus herpes simpleks jenis 1 (HSV-1). Ujian ketoksikan ekstrak telah ditentukan melalui asai MTT (3-[4,5dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide) ke atas sel Vero bagi menentukan nilai CC50 dan hasil ujian ini mendapati kepekatan maksimum ekstrak yang tidak toksik untuk kajian antivirus ialah 15.17%. Kajian anti HSV-1 secara in-vitro, telah dinilai melalui tiga mod berbeza iaitu pasca rawatan, pra-rawatan dan virusid. Ekstrak JL didapati lebih berkesan sebagai antivirus secara pasca rawatan dan virusid dengan pendedahan terus ekstrak kepada HSV-1 selama 15 dan 30 minit telah merencat 100% aktiviti virus tersebut pada semua kepekatan ekstrak yang digunakan. Melalui analisis penjerapan dan pelakuran yang dijalankan, ekstrak JL dengan kepekatan 7.5% dan 15% didapati dapat menghalang virus memasuki sel. Hasil cerapan zarah virus menggunakan mikroskop transmisi elektron (TEM) mendapati interaksi JL secara terus pada zarah virus dapat memusnahkan sampul virus seterusnya merencat proses jangkitan. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan ekstrak JL mempunyai potensi yang baik untuk dibangunkan sebagai agen anti-herpes yang berasaskan sumber semula jadi

Thermal and viscosity properties of medium- and long-chain triacylglycerol blends
The physical properties of medium- and long-chain triacylglycerol (MLCT) blends were characterized in this study. Blending MLCT oil with either palm olein or soybean oil changed the distribution of fatty acid groups, the crystallization and melting behavior of oil samples, and oil cloudiness. The crystallization and melting curves of both palm olein- and soybean-based MLCT blends showed that the peaks shift to different transition temperatures depending on the percent of MLCT oil added. Viscosity analysis revealed that the oil viscosity was dependent on the temperature and triacylglycerol composition of the oil samples. Blending MLCT oil with either 50% palm olein or 50% soybean oil could assist in preventing crystal growth for the first 8 h of storage at 5 and 0C, respectively
Analysis of Second Order Dispersion on Free Space Optical Propagation
Free space optic (FSO) can be regarded as a potential and attractive option to fiber optic. FSO has the ability to go beyond the limit of fiber optics. Unfortunately, due to the dispersion effect in the atmosphere, FSO suffers from signal loss and attenuation. Thus, practical and detailed research is needed to improve the system. Simulation on FSO propagation using measured parameter values is important to gain better understanding and level of accuracy on the pulse behavior in free space. Using MATLAB as the simulation platform and with the help of experimental parameter values, an accurate model can be obtained and studied. This will allow some level of prediction on the behavior of the propagating light pulse in the atmosphere and subsequently the FSO performance can be further improve
Non-Minimal Sneutrino Inflation, Peccei-Quinn Phase Transition and non-Thermal Leptogenesis
We consider a phenomenological extension of the minimal supersymmetric
standard model which incorporates non-minimal chaotic inflation, driven by a
quartic potential associated with the lightest right-handed sneutrino.
Inflation is followed by a Peccei-Quinn phase transition based on
renormalizable superpotential terms, which resolves the strong CP and mu
problems of the minimal supersymmetric standard model provided that one related
parameter of the superpotential is somewhat small. Baryogenesis occurs via
non-thermal leptogenesis, which is realized by the inflaton decay. Confronting
our scenario with the current observational data on the inflationary
observables, the baryon assymetry of the universe, the gravitino limit on the
reheating temperature and the upper bound on the light neutrino masses, we
constrain the effective Yukawa coupling involved in the decay of the inflaton
to relatively small values and the inflaton mass to values lower than 10^12

Postoperative complications after procedure for prolapsed hemorrhoids (PPH) and stapled transanal rectal resection (STARR) procedures
Procedure for prolapsing hemorrhoids (PPH) and stapled transanal rectal resection for obstructed defecation (STARR) carry low postoperative pain, but may be followed by unusual and severe postoperative complications. This review deals with the pathogenesis, prevention and treatment of adverse events that may occasionally be life threatening. PPH and STARR carry the expected morbidity following anorectal surgery, such as bleeding, strictures and fecal incontinence. Complications that are particular to these stapled procedures are rectovaginal fistula, chronic proctalgia, total rectal obliteration, rectal wall hematoma and perforation with pelvic sepsis often requiring a diverting stoma. A higher complication rate and worse results are expected after PPH for fourth-degree piles. Enterocele and anismus are contraindications to PPH and STARR and both operations should be used with caution in patients with weak sphincters. In conclusion, complications after PPH and STARR are not infrequent and may be difficult to manage. However, if performed in selected cases by skilled specialists aware of the risks and associated diseases, some complications may be prevented
Ethanolic extract of Passiflora edulis Sims leaves inhibits protein glycation and restores the oxidative burst in diabetic rat macrophages after Candida albicans exposure
abstract This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of the ethanolic extract of Passiflora edulis leaves on blood glucose, protein glycation, NADPH oxidase activity and macrophage phagocytic capacity after Candida albicans exposure in diabetic rats. The Passiflora edulis Sims leaves were dried to 40°C, powdered, extracted by maceration in 70% ethanol, evaporated under reduced pressure and lyophilised. The biochemical tests performed were total phenolic content (TP) as determined by the Folin-Ciocalteu assay, trapping potential DPPH assay and total iron-reducing potential. Diabetes was induced by alloxan injection. Protein glycation was determined by AGE and fructosamine serum concentrations. Extract-treated diabetic animals demonstrated lower fructosamine concentrations compared with the diabetic group. Our results suggest that ethanolic Passiflora edulis Sims leaf extraction may have beneficial effects on diabetes and may improve glycaemic control in diabetic rats
A Large-Scale Multi-ancestry Genome-wide Study Accounting for Smoking Behavior Identifies Multiple Significant Loci for Blood Pressure
Genome-wide association analysis advanced understanding of blood pressure (BP), a major risk factor for vascular conditions such as coronary heart disease and stroke. Accounting for smoking behavior may help identify BP loci and extend our knowledge of its genetic architecture. We performed genome-wide association meta-analyses of systolic and diastolic BP incorporating gene-smoking interactions in 610,091 individuals. Stage 1 analysis examined ~18.8 million SNPs and small insertion/deletion variants in 129,913 individuals from four ancestries (European, African, Asian, and Hispanic) with follow-up analysis of promising variants in 480,178 additional individuals from five ancestries. We identified 15 loci that were genome-wide significant (p < 5 X 10 -8) in stage 1 and formally replicated in stage 2. A combined stage 1 and 2 meta-analysis identified 66 additional genome-wide significant loci (13, 35, and 18 loci in European, African, and trans-ancestry, respectively). A total of 56 known BP loci were also identified by our results (p < 5 X 10 -8). Of the newly identified loci, ten showed significant interaction with smoking status, but none of them were replicated in stage 2. Several loci were identified in African ancestry, highlighting the importance of genetic studies in diverse populations. The identified loci show strong evidence for regulatory features and support shared pathophysiology with cardiometabolic and addiction traits. They also highlight a role in BP regulation for biological candidates such as modulators of vascular structure and function (CDKN1B, BCAR1-CFDP1, PXDN, EEA1), ciliopathies (SDCCAG8, RPGRIP1L), telomere maintenance (TNKS, PINX1, AKTIP), and central dopaminergic signaling (MSRA, EBF2)
A multi-ancestry genome-wide study incorporating gene-smoking interactions identifies multiple new loci for pulse pressure and mean arterial pressure
Elevated blood pressure (BP), a leading cause of global morbidity and mortality, is influenced by both genetic and lifestyle factors. Cigarette smoking is one such lifestyle factor. Across five ancestries, we performed a genome-wide gene–smoking interaction study of mean arterial pressure (MAP) and pulse pressure (PP) in 129 913 individuals in stage 1 and follow-up analysis in 480 178 additional individuals in stage 2. We report here 136 loci significantly associated with MAP and/or PP. Of these, 61 were previously published through main-effect analysis of BP traits, 37 were recently reported by us for systolic BP and/or diastolic BP through gene–smoking interaction analysis and 38 were newly identified (P < 5 × 10−8, false discovery rate < 0.05). We also identified nine new signals near known loci. Of the 136 loci, 8 showed significant interaction with smoking status. They include CSMD1 previously reported for insulin resistance and BP in the spontaneously hypertensive rats. Many of the 38 new loci show biologic plausibility for a role in BP regulation. SLC26A7 encodes a chloride/bicarbonate exchanger expressed in the renal outer medullary collecting duct. AVPR1A is widely expressed, including in vascular smooth muscle cells, kidney, myocardium and brain. FHAD1 is a long non-coding RNA overexpressed in heart failure. TMEM51 was associated with contractile function in cardiomyocytes. CASP9 plays a central role in cardiomyocyte apoptosis. Identified only in African ancestry were 30 novel loci. Our findings highlight the value of multi-ancestry investigations, particularly in studies of interaction with lifestyle factors, where genomic and lifestyle differences may contribute to novel findings
