On the solutions of the Schrodinger equation with some molecular potentials: wave function ansatz
Making an ansatz to the wave function, the exact solutions of the %
-dimensional radial Schrodinger equation with some molecular potentials like
pseudoharmonic and modified Kratzer potentials are obtained. The restriction on
the parameters of the given potential, and are also given,
where depends on a linear combination of the angular momentum quantum
number and the spatial dimensions and is a parameter in
the ansatz to the wave function. On inserting D=3, we find that the bound state
eigensolutions recover their standard analytical forms in literature.Comment: 14 page
The Role of Comorbid Mood Disorders in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Childhood Social Anxiety
Background: Children with a social anxiety disorder have worse treatment outcomes after Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) than children with other anxiety disorders. Anxiety disorders and mood disorders are strongly related and especially social anxiety is related to high comorbidity rates with mood disorders. The aim of the study was to investigate how comorbid mood disorders are related to treatment outcomes after CBT and whether this can explain the worse outcomes for childhood social anxiety. Methods: Participants were 152 referred clinically children (7â18 years) with either a social anxiety disorder (n = 52) or another anxiety disorder (n = 100) of whom 24.3% (n = 37) had a comorbid mood disorder. Child anxiety, internalizing symptoms, and quality of life were measured pre-treatment, post-treatment, 3 months and 1 year after treatment, using child and both parentsâ report. Results: Children with a primary social anxiety disorder more often had a comorbid mood disorder than children with another primary anxiety disorder. Children with a mood disorder had more severe anxiety problems before treatment. Comorbid mood disorders were related to greater anxiety reductions after treatment. The worse outcomes for children with a primary social anxiety disorder remained after controlling for comorbid mood disorders. Conclusions: Findings stress the importance of future studies examining why the presence of a comorbid mood disorder is associated with greater anxiety reductions, and other factors that explain the worse treatment outcomes found for childhood social anxiety disorder.</p
Optical Activity From Extra Dimension
Optical activity, like Faraday effect, is a rotation of the plane of
polarization of propagating light in a medium and can be attributed to
different sources with distinct signatures. In this note we discuss the effect
of optical activity {\it{in vacuum}} due to Kaluza-Klein scalar field ,
in the presence of an external electro-magnetic field. The astrophysical
implication of this effect is indicated. We also point out the possibility of
observing the same in laboratory conditions.Comment: Four Page
Bulk Scale Factor at Very Early Universe
In this paper we propose a higher dimensional Cosmology based on FRW model
and brane-world scenario. We consider the warp factor in the brane-world
scenario as a scale factor in 5-dimensional generalized FRW metric, which is
called as bulk scale factor, and obtain the evolution of it with space-like and
time-like extra dimensions. It is then showed that, additional space-like
dimensions can produce exponentially bulk scale factor under repulsive strong
gravitational force in the empty universe at a very early stage.Comment: 7 pages, October 201
Quantum dots in magnetic fields: thermal response of broken symmetry phases
We investigate the thermal properties of circular semiconductor quantum dots
in high magnetic fields using finite temperature Hartree-Fock techniques. We
demonstrate that for a given magnetic field strength quantum dots undergo
various shape phase transitions as a function of temperature, and we outline
possible observable consequences.Comment: In Press, Phys. Rev. B (2001

High-resolution microwave frequency dissemination on an 86-km urban optical link
We report the first demonstration of a long-distance ultra stable frequency
dissemination in the microwave range. A 9.15 GHz signal is transferred through
a 86-km urban optical link with a fractional frequency stability of 1.3x10-15
at 1 s integration time and below 10-18 at one day. The optical link phase
noise compensation is performed with a round-trip method. To achieve such a
result we implement light polarisation scrambling and dispersion compensation.
This link outperforms all the previous radiofrequency links and compares well
with recently demonstrated full optical links.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figure
Spin Exciton in quantum dot with spin orbit coupling in high magnetic field
Coulomb interactions of few () electrons confined in a disk shaped
quantum dot, with a large magnetic field applied in the z-direction
(orthogonal to the dot), produce a fully spin polarized ground state. We
numerically study the splitting of the levels corresponding to the multiplet of
total spin (each labeled by a different total angular momentum )
in presence of an electric field parallel to , coupled to by a
Rashba term. We find that the first excited state is a spin exciton with a
reversed spin at the origin. This is reminiscent of the Quantum Hall
Ferromagnet at filling one which has the skyrmion-like state as its first
excited state. The spin exciton level can be tuned with the electric field and
infrared radiation can provide energy and angular momentum to excite it.Comment: 9 pages, 9 figures. submitted to Phys.Rev.
