    This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-inhibitors in the treatment of ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) by using a meta-analysis of clinical trials. We searched PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Clinicaltrials.gov by using keywords related to the topic in August 2018. The pooled effect sizes were calculated based on a random-effects model. We also performed subgroup meta-analysis by types of ALK inhibitors (crizotinib, ceritinib, and alectinib). A total of 20 clinical trials with 10 single-arm trials and 10 double-arm trials were included in the final meta-analysis. The median overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), overall response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), 1 year survival rate, and 2 year survival rate were 19.14 months, 8.47 months, 62%, 78%, 74%, and 62%, respectively. ALK inhibitors showed a significantly superior efficacy compared with chemotherapy (hazard ratio (HR) for OS, 0.83; HR for PFS, 0.43; rate difference (RD) for ORR, 0.23; and RD for DCR, 0.10). The current meta-analysis of clinical trials showed the significant efficacy of ALK inhibitors in the treatment of ALK-positive NSCLC. Further head-to-head trials are needed to compare their efficacy with other types of NSCLC treatment regimens. PROSPERO registration: CRD42018085987

    Electronic structures of doped anatase TiO2\rm TiO_{2}: Ti1xMxO2\rm Ti_{1-x}M_{x}O_{2} (M=Co, Mn, Fe, Ni)

    We have investigated electronic structures of a room temperature diluted magnetic semiconductor : Co-doped anatase TiO2\rm TiO_{2}. We have obtained the half-metallic ground state in the local-spin-density approximation(LSDA) but the insulating ground state in the LSDA+UU+SO incorporating the spin-orbit interaction. In the stoichiometric case, the low spin state of Co is realized with the substantially large orbital moment. However, in the presence of oxygen vacancies near Co, the spin state of Co becomes intermediate. The ferromagnetisms in the metallic and insulating phases are accounted for by the double-exchange-like and the superexchange mechanism, respectively. Further, the magnetic ground states are obtained for Mn and Fe doped TiO2\rm TiO_{2}, while the paramagnetic ground state for Ni-doped TiO2\rm TiO_{2}.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

    Charge and spin ordering in Nd{1/3}Sr{2/3}FeO{3}

    Full text link
    We have investigated the charge and spin ordering in Nd{1/3}Sr{2/3}FeO{3} with neutron diffraction technique. This sample undergoes a charge ordering transition accompanying charge disproportionation of 2Fe4+ -> Fe3+ + Fe5+. We measured the superlattice reflections due to the charge and spin ordering, and confirmed that charges and spins order simultaneously at Tco = 185 K. The ordering pattern of charges and spins in this sample can be viewed as three dimensional stripe order, and is compared with two dimensional stripe order observed in other transition metal oxides.Comment: REVTeX, 4 pages, 3 figures, to be published in J. We study a topological Yang-Mills theory with N=2N=2 fermionic symmetry. Our formalism is a field theoretical interpretation of the Donaldson polynomial invariants on compact K\"{a}hler surfaces. We also study an analogous theory on compact oriented Riemann surfaces and briefly discuss a possible application of the Witten's non-Abelian localization formula to the problems in the case of compact K\"{a}hler surfaces.Comment: ESENAT-93-01 & YUMS-93-10, 34pages: [Final Version] to appear in Comm. Li intercalation effects on magnetism in undoped and Co-doped anatase TiO2_2

    Full text link
    The effects of nn-type carrier doping by Li intercalation on magnetism in undoped and Co-doped anatase TiO2_2 are investigated. We have found that doped nn-type carriers in TiO2_2 are localized mainly at Ti sites near the intercalated Li. With increasing the intercalation, local spins are realized at Ti. In the case of Co-doped TiO2_2, most of the added nn-type carriers fill the Co 3dd bands and the rest are localized at Ti. Therefore, Co magnetic moment vanishes by Li intercalation to have a nonmagnetic ground state.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures, to appear in a special issue of Physica B, proceedings of the 2nd Hiroshima Workshop on Transport and Thermal Properties of Advanced Materials (Aug. 2002; Hiroshima, Japan

    CFD Simulation of Liquid-solid Multiphase Flow in Mud Mixer

    Get PDF
    In the present study, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation was performed to analyze the mixing phenomena associated with multi-phase flow in a mud mixing system. For the validation of CFD simulation, firstly a liquid-solid multiphase flow inside horizontal pipe was simulated and compared with the experiments and other numerical simulations. And then, the multiphase flow simulation was carried out for the mud mixer in the drilling handling system in order to understand mixing phenomena and predict the mixing efficiency. For the modeling and simulation, a commercial software, STAR-CCM+, based on a finite-volume method (FVM) was adopted. The simulation results for liquid-solid flow inside the pipe shows a good agreement with the experimental data. With the same multiphase model, the simulation for mud mixer is performed under the generalized boundary condition and then pressure drop through the mud mixer will be discussed

    Charge and Orbital Ordering and Spin State Transition Driven by Structural Distortion in YBaCo_2O_5

    Full text link
    We have investigated electronic structures of antiferromagnetic YBaCo_2O_5 using the local spin-density approximation (LSDA) + U method. The charge and orbital ordered insulating ground state is correctly obtained with the strong on-site Coulomb interaction. Co^{2+} and Co^{3+} ions are found to be in the high spin (HS) and intermediate spin (IS) state, respectively. It is considered that the tetragonal to orthorhombic structural transition is responsible for the ordering phenomena and the spin states of Co ions. The large contribution of the orbital moment to the total magnetic moment indicates that the spin-orbit coupling is also important in YBaCo_2O_5.Comment: 4 pages including 4 figures, Submitted to Phys.     Neutron Diffraction Study of Field Cooling Effects on Relaxor Ferroelectrics Pb[(Zn_{1/3} Nb_{2/3})_{0.92} Ti_{0.08}] O_{3}

    Full text link
    High-temperature (T) and high-electric-field (E) effects on Pb[(Zn_{1/3} Nb_{2/3})_{0.92} Ti_{0.08}]O_3 (PZN-8%PT) were studied comprehensively by neutron diffraction in the ranges 300 <= T <= 550 K and 0 <= E <= 15 kV/cm. We have focused on how phase transitions depend on preceding thermal and electrical sequences. In the field cooling process (FC, E parallel [001] >= 0.5 kV/cm), a successive cubic (C) --> tetragonal (T) --> monoclinic (M_C) transition was observed. In the zero field cooling process (ZFC), however, we have found that the system does not transform to the rhombohedral (R) phase as widely believed, but to a new, unidentified phase, which we call X. X gives a Bragg peak profile similar to that expected for R, but the c-axis is always slightly shorter than the a-axis. As for field effects on the X phase, we found an irreversible X --> M_C transition via another monoclinic phase (M_A) as expected from a previous report [Noheda et al. Phys. Rev. Lett. 86, 3891 (2001)]. At a higher electric field, we confirmed a c-axis jump associated with the field-induced M_C --> T transition, which was observed by strain and x-ray diffraction measurements.Comment: 8 pages, 9 figures, revise
